Thanks so much!! Thanks for the compliment. When I posted this a few years ago, I had no idea it would receive such a favorable response from everyone. I love music and making music, regardless if it's mine or another bands. This is one of my favorite DM songs.
I love this band and the song is sublime. Every once in a while you get a band or an artist that really changes things, and this is one of them. BTW If you like this check out my music, it has a similar kind of vibe.
The samples were taken directly off the "Highland" mix of Stripped. The mix has the entire song in a longer version that provides alot more isolation for each one of the samples I took. These samples are being triggered off the same Mirage sampler I originally used to create them way back in 1992. I still have the sampler(3 of them now) and eventually backed the samples up to a hard drive a few years ago. This demo was done using the original floppy. Like 17 years later a
Thanks alot for watching, Im glad everyone enjoys this. There is no Juno in this song. The Two keyboards to the left are a Roland Jupiter 6 on the bottom and indeed there is a Roland Juno 1 above that. The samples are entirely off an Ensoniq Mirage sampler..gritty 8 bit sampler from yesteryear. The only non sample is that low sounding background bass synth sound I'm playing with my left hand, thats the Jupiter 6. The samples are mapped across my Korg Triton. Thanks again!
actually wet501 it is a train. they recorded it themselves, watch the video for the making of the cd and it will tell you that.
But dude youre amazing for being able to play all of that together, if only you had a set of caver hands to be able to hit the other chorus riff that you have on the key. ;P
By the way it's not a train sample slowed down it's an original E-Mu sound from the Emulator I library it's a Harley Davidson motorcycle idling, dropped an octave or an octave and a half (forget which). Nice job on the recreation
Thanks alot, glad you like it! I will eventually do a vocal take. most likely a studio version though, the passages require way too much concentration and my vocals would suffer...I can sing the song no prob. Listen to my Sun and the Rainfall cover, I think it sounds pretty decent. Thanks again!
i have a question...the lead sound( D-E..A-A#..C-F..C-F ) is that the real sound sample or is it just a similar sound ??? and if is the real sample, where did you take it from? ( sorry about my english, i hope you understand my question.
That is a sample..Its recorded from the "Highland" mix of "Stripped". Its a great mix because of how isolated all the sounds are. The sample was taken from the first few seconds of the song,as were the drumloop, effects etc. The song is on you tube. Although my samples were taken over 15 years ago on a Mirage 8bit sampler with alot of fx to liven it up..chers
Thanx for the compliment! I agree one of DM's best, the keyboard Im using is a Korg Triton LE. The actual sounds aren't from this synth though, I've got it MIDI'ed to a Mirage sampler (old School!) for most of the samples and a rackmount Roland Super Jupiter MKS-80 for that underlying kind of organ, bass sound that I'm playing with my left hand. Thanx for watching!
yeah!!!!!! play this on my funeral... thats amazing

Hi!
This video is just amazing.
I've got a question. How did you take the real sounds from the "Highland" mix and how did you add a sound to a key?
I've got a Yamaha PSR E403 keyboard which is a midi controller as well.
I wonder if I could do the same as you did.
Thank you in advance.
