this song take me back was before the J Goodman stuff All I know is that I got to see them play almost every week in Chicago and the BURBS rock on guys !
My brother Mike was in a band at Waukegan High School named The Associated Press. They did all of these songs from The Mauds, The Buckinghams, etc. I was born in '67 so some of my very earliest memories are of hearing these songs blasting from our basement.. LOL
This is a cool song. These guys should have made it big. They were underrated, I think. This is a very talented band that, in my opinion, got overlooked. I mean, this is a great song from the '60's.
JCANELAKES:See notes under The Flock-Clown on this page I posted 2 days ago giving props to Bob. I saw both brothers bands many times at Lugen hall, Slovenic hall and the Wild Goose. I met Bob in North Chi at a house just off S. Jackson and Commonwealthin in '67 when his song was hitting for the Flock and remember tossing a baseball on a summer day and talking about music and things. A great memory. Peace to you all
@A1MaxJones You sound so old school Waukegan. It's funny. My brother just sent me an old Wild Goose calendar today and the Flock was on it, so I had to hear this song. I sure did like the live version better. Check out the "Waukegan area bands 50's 60's 70's 80's" on Facebook. Gturk
The song's composer, Robert Stanley, is my brother. He's still writing music and recording. The Flock did a good job on this song. But, as stated, they never did become as big as they should have.
@JCANELAKES: Thanks for the post. I clicked your message and up popped The Story In Your Eyes. I Loved the Moody's, too. Saw them at the Amphitheatre w/ delaney& bonnie. I had some other threads of connection to the early days. A small Bryds photo b/w taken at the McCormick's mansion ruins in L.F. which was a hangout for adventurous souls. Jim W. tutored a very good friend of mine on guitar and the guy was great. I think the road is named after Jim's family that runs from Barat W to 41. more...
@spacepatrolman Guercio produced the Buckinghams' top singles of '67, then produced BS&T's second album in '68 (w/David Clayton-Thomas on vocals). His biggest success was with Chicago.
@bze2nlz4 bs&t 2 sold 6 million copies there is a steve lawrence record recorded in chicago with someone named robert guercio on trumpet they threw danny serphine out of chicago because he was selling their tapes to the mafia
Flood opens the mind tons; of Memory's from 1967-68 This group is great :? Canoff crazy great Freddy should keep writting, thanks ti Mr J. Goodman who is still out there this was lost for way too long

My diary entry dated 1st January 1974 reminds me that this tune was hugely popular on the 'Northern Soul' scene at the time!!!!

@A1MaxJones Great comment, thanks! But you have to hit the reply 'button' next to JCANELAKES's comment or otherwise he may not see this... :)

@A1MaxJones The house you're referring to was Dave Inman's house. Dave was the bass player for the Bryds.
