I use an AKG C1000, which isn't strictly the best mic for vocals (in a moderate price range). I've got my eye on a Rode NT1-A. The C1000 is a condenser mic that is excellent for mid to high frequencies. Such as guitars and some percussion like cymbals etc. I did EQ the vocals a bit :) I hope that helps.
