@BogMonkey53 no you must use a thermastable IC3000 liquid nitrogen container, easy to get confused with the IC2000 with half the amount of cooling rods inside, don't make that mistake when you buy one. Yeh just get one of them and ONLY then will you be able to do it.

I got a better one. Put a beer in the fridge for 3 hours so it is cold. Show the audience that it pours like normal, then take another bottle and hit it on the top. The force from the hit will travel down the bottle creating bubbles which instantly freezes the liquid inside. make sure you dont hit it too hard or too soft or it wont work

@nirvanafrik No there are a few other items it works well with, but the Co2 needs to be of the correct saturation, although it also works with mineral water, but if there is any contamination inside the liquid it wont work correctly.

Any contamination will "seed" the ice crystals and make it freeze as normal instead of just super cooling the liquid.

Its actually been supercooled in the freezer, this makes the Co2 thats saturated within the liquid "supersaturated", when the bottle is banged and the Co2 is released it expands and freezes the also "supersaturated" liquid.

Its basic Physics 101....well for some parts of the world anyways.

You're question doesn't make sense. I assumed it was sodium acetate INSTEAD of freezing (I stand corrected). That's how I figured it. (I could quite easily colour some sodium acetate, pour it in an empty corona bottle, force the cap back on and pretend to freeze it by knocking it.)

If I said it was sodium acetate AND freezing I would understand your query.

beer doesn't have nearly enough alcohol in it to keep it from freezing. Most Macro brew beer is around 5%. Even your micro brews are usually under 10%. Liquor under about 35% (70 proof) will freeze in an average freezer.

What actually happens is that part of the CO2 comes out of solution when you bang the bottle agains a hard surface, and that gas coming out of solution forms bubbles.

These bubbles form the nuclei where the supercooled liquid can start to freeze...

this cannot be done with water, as it is the carbon dioxide molecules in the drink which were in a liquid state, when bashed turn gaseous and for this they will go through an endothermic reaction, taking heat in from the drink, thus lowering the temperature of it and making it go below the level at which beer freezes, making it freeze.
