How sad that Vieri at the peak of his powers was injured on the eve of Euro 2000, i believe he had been the highest scorer in Serie A that year until then. His left and right foot worked both well, in world cup 2002 his right foot was rubbish, yet in 98 he could score with both feet. They would have won the tournament with him.

It is stupid talking about goalkeepers.Toldo did a mistake on wiltord but nobody can know if Buffon has saved the penalties with holland and so we played the final.Euro2000 had that destiny.

I remember this tie very well. I was nervous as hell and the thought of not qualifying was very real. In the first game the thing that always stuck out was Buffon's save and then Cannavaro giving Buffon a chest-bump with his head. And the orange ball playing in the snow, of course. 1-1 was a good result with the road goal. The return was nerve-wracking as well. I always remembered Albertini's long ball for Casiraghi's goal. After Italy scored, Russia never came close to scoring. Italy were in.

I saw both games on channel 4 in England. In the first match Buffon came off the bench to replace Peruzzi. Perhaps Italy would have won Euro 2000 with Buffon goal; he never makes mistakes- he would definately saved Wiltord's equalizer
