  • I love annas voice and she is a drop dead georgeous woman! But this is a little strange, ...if you are going to do marilyn, you can't with that voice. Its just funny and weird !

  • Genial!

  • Why can't opera stars have fun once in awhile ?

  • Entertaining, energetic and beautiful..what is wrong with this? Does opera have to be boring?

  • I like very much the Anna's mouth totally opened. Very sexy. It is the only thing that I could have stood out against this scene jejeje

  • what are you all afraid of ? a little sex and fun? Opera was written for the masses! hello this is joyful and great oh her part beautiful voice! lighten up guys!

  • @Umbriaga I agree, I don't know why people have to always be so negative!

  • I could see Natalie Dessay doing something this gross but not Anna.

  • Artisitic and sensual to match the party. Anna shows herself a real actress apart from bueatuful singing. All sorts of cabaret may have a rest.

  • Eccezionale Manon.

  • What a shame! This performance suits Broadway, not an operistic stage.

  • @irineide2010

    I beg to disagree.

Netrebko sings beautifully, despite the Monroe-like nonsense.

  • @C I think that she over acts in all her performances, sometimes to vulgarity. Opera should be more than that.

  • a pole? in the 18th century=)) damn. It`s too vulgar even for me and I`m young.

  • c'est chanté en français?

  • Awfull direction.

Why and for what to humiliate opera-singers with these modern manoeuvres on stage? What a shame.

Each opera has its own message de son époque. Why to transforme it? (En plus like that: because Manon has originally a totalement différent message -just read the book or the libretto!)

If you don't (want to) understand it, you'd better to go to cinéma.

    Modernisme. Saleté et désert.

    Fortunately, Anna keeps singing.

  • magnifico!!!!!!!

  • The lack of sophistication among opera fans always startles me. The vitriol in these comments reminds me of childhood arguments about whether the "Stones" or the "Beatles" were the best group. Some of these the comments are just as infantile as the banter between Beavis and Butt Head about some video. If you don't like Netrebko, or Callas or Bartoli, why do you watch the vids? Do you take joy in diminishing the joy of others?

  • è ingolata come sempre.

  • Maravilhosa, Diva, Diva, Diva... quero sangrar as mãos batendo milhões de palmas pra ti!!!!

  • greaaaaaaaaattttttttttttttttttt Anna!

  • I hope she would never dare sing this role in Paris, or in France anywhere....

  • This is probably some director's idea of modernity..it's vulgar, as is her singing.

  • Awesome Anna Netrebko! Period!

  • c'est bien, mais on ne comprend rien!

  • She has her detractors and admirers. I think she has a beautiful voice and she puts so much passion in her roles, that it is a pleasure to watch and to listen. Now, everybody has different tastes and that is OK . Keep the tone civilized and let's enjoy the music.

  • why should she say no??? It was a great artistic idea? true to the meaning of the opera, why not?

  • @babajaga39 Artistic integrity would have made her say no, but a wench like her has none. true to the meaning of the opera? LMAO! Manon is based on the 1731 novel L’histoire du chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut, set in France and Louisiana in the early 18th century; so the stripper pole and Manon are mutualy excluding, this was many things but a "great artistic idea" was not one of them.

  • @NEBESHIKU Oh, God, heads like you shouldn't attend to the opera nowadays...

  • @babajaga39 today's freak show side shows can hardly be called opera.

  • @NEBESHIKU you should know that I read the original novel...

  • @babajaga39 well it would be a miracle that you could read.

  • @NEBESHIKU what is wrong with the stripper pole? try to make at least one figure

using it and you will see how difficult it is; and sing at the same time, then we can discuss

    the rest:)

  • @konisia i wouldn't expect someone who knows how difficult it is to make at least one figure using the stripper pole to fathom why one is so out of place in Manon and for that same reason trying to explain it would be of no use since it's complexity will always be a conundrum for you.

  • @NEBESHIKU Fine! This is YOUR opinion and you have right to express it freely!

    I will stick to MINE!

  • @konisia It's not an opinion, it's fact. Massenet would be disgusted with this filth. He would say this is not the opera house, it's a whore house.

  • @NEBESHIKU

Seems you are in a close relationship with Massenet knowing his thoughts:)

    Congratulations!

  • @konisia what an amusing comment, specially from someone who knows how hard it is to work the stripperpole. If you haven't been able to read the letters of Massenet expressing what he wished for this role, much less the score.

  • @NEBESHIKU

I am glad you like my comment:) the world is changing and even Massenet has to give up;) but there is still hope for Manon being staged in the future without the stripper pole:) keep the fingers crossed; all the best!

  • @konisia classics don't change, when pop Netrebko's carrer is over, wich will be any time now since she is getting old and fat, she will be quickly forgotten, her "fans" will soon be on to the next "pop" opera wanna be star.

  • @NEBESHIKU Have you listened to Netrebko's Manon /Waldbuhne Berlin 2011 /with Jonas Kaufmann; no pole at all there... I felt uneasy...

  • @konisia i wouldn't waste my money on her.

  • @NEBESHIKU

Greetings cause I am out and away:)

  • @konisia have a wonderful holiday season! have lots of fun!

  • Puede haber , y de hecho que las hay mejores cantantes de ópera, pero compararla con B Spears, me pareceque entramos en el terreno de la boludez

  • The russian bimbo showingoff her true skills, the ones that got her out of cleaning toilets and on to the stage to reveal that even Britney Spears has a better voice and sings better. Her slut ways are evident, totally out of style, to hide how she can't take the coloratura she adds a stripper pole (wich were unheard of during the time when the opera takes place), art reduced to the tackiest form of camp possible.

  • @NEBESHIKU I don't think she was the director of the performance.

  • @babajaga39 when you have artistic integrity you can say NO to the director of the performance.

  • @NEBESHIKU She is not the director. I hate Eurotrash productions as much as anybody, but singers have no say today. You should know it. Also, last time I checked Manon doesn't require coloratura. Additionally, your dislike of Anna Netrebko's singing doesn't justify calling her names. But then you call any singer who isn't Callas names.

  • @jewelmarkess Singers do have a say, they rather get the money because they have no artistic integrity. They can always say no. They choose not to. This russian bimbo is eurotrash at it's worst. Wenches like her are always after the money. The only thing that NEtrebko does live up to in the role of Manon is that both are whores.

  • @NEBESHIKU In case you didn't notice, there are very few good traditional productions out there, near none in Central Europe. A singer that says no will be unemployed. Also, I wonder why you aren't able to write any comment without personal insults toward singers you don't like. It's perfectly find to dislike performers and criticize the singing; but being rude and resorting to name-calling tells more about you than singers you are criticizing (which is almost everyone today).

  • @jewelmarkess true artists would rather go hungry than sell out! They are not insults, they are truths: Netrebko is a whore, Sutherland was very stupid with a tiny IQ, Caballé is a lard bucket, Flemming is a Phlegm, Sillas was a canary, i could go on and on.

  • @NEBESHIKU "True artists would rather go hungry" - this is hypocricy and demagoguery. Have you ever experienced hunger? I seriously doubt that you did, it's very easy if you are well off and fed to talk after dinner how others should sacrifice their well being and comfort and their ability to work. People with zero talent love to insult those who do. I do understand that one doesn't need to be a singer to criticize one, but criticizing is one thing and insulting is another.

  • @jewelmarkess I knew that you limited intelligence would make you take "True artists would rather go hungry" literally. True artist would earn their livelyhood some other way rather than selling out. The most telling part is that you talk of NEtrebko as if she had talent; she does have a talent, but opera singing is not ne of them. Her true talent will be seen when her sex tapes with Valery Gergiev surface.

  • @NEBESHIKU As I said I had no issues with your disliking Netrebko, I respect that different people have different opinions - you clearly think your opinion is the only right one. As to so called "sex tapes" -- you are starting rumors with no base whatsoever guided simply by your pathological hatred of Anna Netrebko. Did you even listen to her early recordings e.g. from St Petersburg conservatory or her first performances at Mariinsky?

  • @jewelmarkess i doubt you have the skills or education to be able to use the word pathological. I've listen to Netrebkos "work". Her tone is beautiful as is she (what a lucky trollop) but her singing has always been a train wreck. As i've said before i wonder how long it will take for those videos to surface, i have no doubt that her PR would love for tht to happen, so many talentless bimbos like her have made carrers from having such tapes.

  • @NEBESHIKU Of course, your language shown your superior intelligence as well as your inability to discuss anything without resorting to personal attacks. Pot kettle? Hint: personal attacks, conspiracy theories, using insults instead of legitimate criticism have never convinced anybody. Whatever. I am done arguing with you. Considering your comments about all singers other than Callas, I think Netrebko is in good company as far as your views are concerned.

  • @jewelmarkess Poor thing, did you think i was trying to convince you? LMAO! If you think NEtrebwhore is good company it must be because you must both worked the same brothel.

  • @NEBESHIKU As to "limited intelligence" - I think the fact that you are completely unable to make an argument without personal attacks doesn't speak highly of your intelligence. BTW - the reason I mentioned Netrebko's early recordings is that her voice was very different - lighter, higher and more agile - and becuase I know someone who doesn't like her now but liked her a lot then.

  • IF ONLY Netrebko would sing Massenet's THAIS then she could go totally naked on stage ...

  • @KathrynARyder I'm sure that will be next.

  • QUEREMOS VER PELOS!!

  • la più bella con la voce più bella !!!!

  • Netrebko: presença de cena notável, tanto em música alegre como romântico sempre é fascinante.

  • "interesting" performance. anyway, a great artist.
