  • Magic!!!! No dislikes...let's keep it that way

  • I am a 27 year old woman from South Africa, and I am absolutely convinced I was born in the wrong era. I love watching old movies, and lives to good music.... Unfortunately, the good music seemed, for the most part to have stopped around the 90s.... In fact, I dare say, that is in all likelihood EXACTLY when it ended.

I really just do not understand modern music in general, and am of the opinion that people of my age are missing out dearly on these fine classics!

    That is all :P

  • @catycue lives = loves listening. Typo error of the year.

  • Great voice.

  • After 50 years, I still cannot fathom why this show is not on DVD.

  • @Juliaflo You raise a very, very good question. I sure hope whoever holds the rights gets to it pronto.

  • Ah yes..Three stars ....Jessica Alba, Emma Stone and Ashton Kutcher..they shined alright.....if you mean IGNORED me as I asked for an autograph...

  • One of my Mum's major pin-ups....as was Rock Hudson....God! ma, what was thing you had about gay men?

  • Well known to be handsome AND gay! sorry girls lol

  • Haven't heard this for years!! I can remember having a load of pics of him scotch-taped to my bedroom wall as a kid. He even came to a Mall where we lived and saw him in person back then. We went crazy!! Thanks for the memories.

  • I never had a doctor like that.

I sort of did, but not LIKE that

  • the last picture make me breathless.

  • I really love this beautiul song !

Thank you very much for posting

  • what a fox

  • He has one of the most beautiful and expressive speaking tones of any man I've heard, and does a lovely job of singing, as well.

  • What a Beautiful voice!!!! It brings back many happy memories from the 60's of Richard.

  • Love this, love Richard! Thank you for sharing~

  • Thank you so much. It brought back such memories.

  • FABULOUS. THANKS FOR POSTING.

  • Just watched THE BOURNE IDENTITY, theTV serial he was in with jacelyn Smith. Even better than I remembered. Bourne with HEART. $7.00 DVD on Amazon.

  • I have the original LP and nearly wore it out playing in the 60's. Always a favorite. Thanks for posting.

  • I love the story behind this song.

David Rose, composer of "Bonanza," was hired to work with Richard on his very first record. David and his orchestra were skeptical of Richard, thinking this big heartthrob probably couldn't sing.

At the end of the day in the recording studio, however, David and his band all stood up applauding Richard; they were so impressed with Richard's beautiful singing voice, and how hard he had worked on the song. A really big thrill for the young Dr. Kildare!

  • Not many people know it, but Vince Edwards could sing.

  • @threebrs

    He had a beautiful voice.

  • i still come back here--thank you for making me a child again, laying on the summer lawn, looking at stars, making wishes, running this song in my mind, and believing. thank you for reminding me of believing. Lovely song, wonderful voice--kind persons who post memories and make us how we dreamed of being. The comic books, the Lancer paper backs and love.

  • ....words so thoughtfully spoken, I do believe I see a falling star, Look over yonder, and the mimosa scent blew ever so gently thur the summer night....

we are so very blessed by our childhood memories....may they come back again and again....

  • suziestew Your comment reminds me of the scene from the movie "Doc Hollywood? -- towards end of movie when he is now in LA and calls the small town he has just left, and hears the local weather girl reporting in a relaxed tone about the fireflies, cool breezes etc That slow paced, small town friendly relaxed feeling he misses in the movie and many of us conjure from our past!.

  • .....thank you for your "insight'....for you are so correct-Ive just returned "home" from California where I lived for 2 years-- my childhood was so idealized--for that I will be forever blessed...and memories are golden--I hold on to them tightly and sometime like this song brings them back so sweetly....for that I am blessed. Again, thank you for "getting it"

    blessings to you

    suziestew

  • thank you more than i can say

  • Dr Kildare.... My absolute favourite in the 1960's.

  • ....enjoyed watching and remembering, yet once again...

    bless you,

    xxx

ps my cousin and I would fight over who was the the best looking and better DR. Dr Kildare or Dr Ben Casey....

and ....she too married her Dr Ben Casey...

  • How funny to read your comment...I was in love with Dr. Kildare while my older sister preferred Ben Casey! It's so nice to hear this song again! RC does have a lovely voice. The instrumental version (original theme for the show) is quite nice, too...I must look for it now!

  • I am glad you enjoyed the comment...childhood memories for me now are so very precious....

    blessings,

    suziestew

  • Richard was my first love. I had his posters in my room and this albumn was almost worn out. This song brings it all back to me -thanks for posting and making me smile and remember.

  • He was my first love too. I went to my friends house to watch the program each week. I just was totally in love. I am 65 now and feel like crying because things didnt go as I planned.

  • I had to respond to you-I just turned sixty, and after watching this video, I realized there's still something that can do it for me! WOW! Sorry your "plans" didn't work out. :)

  • I sent you an e mail but I am not sure if it works that way..I really enjoyed your comments. for me its difficult not to look back. I felt happy then. This song and the clips and theme song of the program brought back a flood of memories Margie..sunnitwo

  • I did get your e-mail. It's fun knowing someone else ( I'm sure there are many more!) ladies in our age group who have similar memories. I sat and watched many of these videos.....really takes me back. to junior high and fan clubs, etc.I remember arguring with my friend who liked Ben Casey better-I still don't understand that!

  • I actually still have the original single of this song from the 60's - the B side was a song called: "A kiss to build a dream on".

    Good times!

  • I know what you mean Nancy! This song sends me floating as well.

    This hit #10 in 1962.

It's on my 1962 playlist now. You can step back in time with my 'year' playlists from 1950-1999

  • I belonged to his fan club and had his album when I was 13! This is so cool !

    hugs, Chris

  • He sang much better than many other actors who made attempts they shouldn't have ~ I know he recorded for M-G-M and even had a song out called CLOSE TO YOU which later was done by The Carpenters!

  • I love this clip so much!!!!!!

  • I had Dr. Kildare's autographed picture up on my wall when I was 16. This show was fantastic!

I was married to a man that looked like Dr. Kildare and he became a Emergency Room Physician...we divorced after 16 years of marriage...

I hope that star of love will shine down on him....x

    blessings,

  • oh how sweet and sad both. I was so in love with dr Kildare..how handsome he was..My marriage lasted 42 years..but it wasnt good, and I know It would have been better if Dr. Kildare could have been in my life.:-)

  • I remember him being on the Diana SHore show in the 70s she tried to have him sing this song and he refused. He really really sings nice. I guess he wants to be known as a fine actor, as he is.

  • Good screens, great movie :D

  • So handsome mmm so gay. But what does it matter. He gave my teenage years something to dream about

  • at 0.38 he looks a little like Ben Affleck...but better:)

  • Ahh.... again one of my very first crushes..sigh

I would love to have gotten him for a DR back then but I was just a 5 yr old. But him and Ricky Nelson.. Ahhhh......

  • My goodness! I have forgotten how handsome Richard Chamberlain was as Dr. Kildare. And this song - whoa, I don't thnk any of the other "TV doctors" who came after Dr. Kildare ever had a title song quite up to par. Jettie66, thanks for a great job.

  • He had such a beautiful voice and was not given the credit he deserved for it.

  • I remember he was on Diana Shore show in the

the 1970s and she wanted him to sing this song
