Ukrainian has very close to Polish lang. i bet if ukraine was under polish rule then we would be speaking polish. its kind strange that polish use different alpabet.
All slavic languages are close. To ukrainian the closest is belorussian. There are for example a number of words which exist only in ukrainian serbian and croatian. Phonetically polish and ukrainian quite different they belong to different groups (eastern and western slavic) so there is no reason to say that polish and ukrainian somewhat specifically close.

How dare you make such judgments about me. I have lived in Ukraine most of my life. Yes, I do live in the US but all of my friends here know that I'm a proud Ukrainian. By the way, it is impossible to say in Ukrainian "budu yomu virná" just "budu yomu vìrna". Sound "ch" in Ukrainian firmer then in Russian, vocals are different. Diminutive "travynonka" is possible but unusual. Certainly this "Ukrainian language" sound strange.And yes deep hidden sense of this song definitly overwhelming.

All slavic languages are close. To ukrainian the closest is belorussian. There are for example a number of words which exist only in ukrainian serbian and croatian. Phonetically polish and ukrainian quite different they belong to different groups (eastern and western slavic) so there is no reason to say that polish and ukrainian somewhat specifically close.

There were no Russian peasants in Ukrainian villages to work on the land. Majority of Russian real peasantry was sent to Gulags and further to the North. May be there were a few, but to be in charge not to work the land. All of these new comers, Russian and Jews, were sent to assume the jobs such doctors , teachers etc. and over government positions after the elimination of Ukrainian middle class. That how it happened in Western Ukraine in 1939-1941 and 1944-1953 and a bit easier after.

Being poisoned doesnt justify his lazyness and stupidnes. Allowing himsel to be poisoned - is another mistake he made. The point is Ukraine doesnt have any leader that people would truly believe to and stand for. Yes everything is better than bidlo Yanukovich. But this is not an answer.

Not in that way... Ethnic Ukrainians have to reproduce more. Letting in more foreign non-ethnic & non-white garbage would not solve this question. As an example you can take a look on France and Germany, and see what problems they have with the migrants.

Hey, i am ukrainian. Although i am not a racist I also don't want Ukraine to turn into smth like Netherlands were black people don't even speak the language and disregard all local customs and laws. But i think these black guys who speak ukrainian deserve to be in Ukraine
more than many from Eastern Ukraine who has lived all their life in Ukraine and don't even speak a language. As long as you respect our customs, language and laws - you are wellcomed.

btw, they say like two words in Ukrainian, the rest in English. So, site = russian, songs = english, colour = "blacker then the Poltava earth", but they're true Ukrainians. Hehehe.

They didn't learn Ukrainian though. They learned a song, its not learning a language. 100% of their interviews are Russian, some in English. So they're no better then "moscals". No foreign students in Ukraine learn Ukrainian, never, ever. Maybe a few in Lviv, but thats it, unfortunately :(((. They only Russifiy Ukraine more..

Who says I hate them? I don't like blacks in Ukraine; and I could care less if you think I'm racist. Russians and Russian speaking people are WAY more like us, then any chornozhop was, is, or will ever be, regardless of langauge.
