Drugs are terrible. I've seen first hand what they do to several loved ones of mine and I had a problem at one time too. I've noticed in America they only advertise against smoking cigarettes and marijuana, but honestly that's the least people need to worry about right now. They need to go back to advertising against the stuff that will really kill you, I see children younger and younger doing the hard stuff.

So many of these CCA PSAs were so terrifying that they are stuck in my head permanently from when I was a child. There was also one with a puppet with scary eyes that traumatized me. I think the CCA ads were very effective. But I also think they were aired too early. They were just too dark for little kids who didn't understand the message anyway. I remember with this one being worried that the broken glass had hurt the mouse. I thought that was the "them" they were referring to.

If I can recall, there were some similar PSAs to this one that aired on YTV, also made by CCA. There were about four of them, one being titled "Elevator", and another titled "No Label On Drugs". Despite my best efforts, I was unable to find them.

I can't remember that well because this was around the time Teletoon first started (1997). The "Elevator" PSA, if memory serves me right, depicts an elevator going up to a certain floor, the cables snapping, then plummets at high speed while a narrator compares the effects of drugs to a broken elevator (or something along those lines. I might be confusing this with another PSA). These other three PSAs have since faded into obscurity.

I heard that the "Syringe" PSA (the one you are watching right now) has been banned from TV since 1996 because it was shown at "inappropriate" times during the day.
