I'm from Mexico and I couldn't understand the full story becuase they never said the whole details in the game but I could guess that that the Y's Goddesses were fenna and the girl that played the harmonic. when I saw the anime my I knew that I was right.
"Adol you are lucky because you was blessed by two beautiful goddesses".
I was 4 when I beat this game with my mother. I was in Puerto Rico and she was the only one that knew English. If it wasn't for her I would've never gotten to the end of this game, but the tunes behind this game I shall never forget. And from "Rest In Peace" all the way to the "The Morning Grow" to the final credits.. such a fascinating game / series.(this was back in 1990 - 91). I am 24 now lol.
I was just testing out my old Master System games to see if they still worked, I ended up playing this game for hours; I'll have to check out spell caster another day.
Great game for the Master System, I beat it a long time ago and still have the game. Love the music, especially at the ending. Funny that the title screen has a phonetic description of how to pronounce the name of the game.
Try playing the TurboGrafx version, aside from incredible arrangements of the music, and actualy voice acting, it has the second part of the story. Ys is actually a 2 parter.
Well, I have played it on a real pc engine duo. And yes, it is better in every way, I guess, but I played the sega version first, so I'm more nostalgic about that.
Couldn't get through the whole of game two.
Got stuck in the underground fortress, or whatever it was called, near the canals.
It's funny when you can turn into a monster and talk to the monsters. Especially when one of them says: Whatch out, there's someone going around killing us monsters!
this game gives me a nostalgic feeling lol. When I first played i thought it was lame but then after playing it more and more gradually started to like it. Though game to beat at first though.
Oh man...I remember when me and my brother spent days trying to figure out how to save in this game only to find out that you couldn't. You could save, but once you turned off the system, it was gone. I never went far in this game but I did enjoy my time with it. Thanks for showing the ending.
God I loved SMS crappy endings! LOL...just text on a black screen and normally just an "End" shot! And these were back in the days of no "saving" so you'd have spent hours finishing a game just to get a crappy ending! I remember Sega Shinobi was the worst with just a "Game Over" after you killed the final boss?!
Well, to be fair, the story of Ys is a 2-parter. Ys 2 takes places immediately after Ys 1. You can play both on the Wii Virtual Console - originally for the TurboGrafx-CD.
name of the ending song: 'see you again' look for soundtrack of Ys in ThurbographCD best Ys ever made way better than sega master version!

Wasn't that some problem with your cartridge? I always saved normally. Great game.

That just means your battery was dead. A new battery would solve that. :)
