  • HEY ASSHOLE WHY DONT U JUST WRITE A BOOK.......

  • the most underrated halen album !! good songs and flavour's Halen a go go

  • 1978-1984 were the good times. When 1985 came two things happened that fucked the country up. Crack and Aids. All downhill from there.

  • @Endisnigh666 And Dave left Van Halen.....

  • Wish the new album sounded nearly as good as this. You can hear every nuance of Alex's drumming and Ed's guitar. Plus the mix is balanced just right. Fuck John Shanks and his phony baloney piece of shit Shammies, uh, I mean Grammies.

  • Not one of their best. Eddie must have been shitfaced on this one cause he's off key a few times, not really noticeable unless you have a keen ear for music.

  • @AAtomicPunk dude, theyve said on several occasions that this album was hastily recorded with out alot of takes, relying on spontaneity, also relying on alot of cover songs.however alot of VH fans like this album best and u gotta love the spontaneous feel of it,mistakes and all.

  • @hirskdubbi Many good tunes on this release just sayin that this track seemed weak to me in comparison. Lets face it, as VH fans you get spoiled and maybe i judge each track too critical.

  • @AAtomicPunk Thanks for letting us know you have a keen ear for music.

  • @AAtomicPunk So you're saying you're not impressed with the song because of a few bum notes? Or you just don't "feel" it.

This is one of VH's most badass songs in my book.

  • david lee roth- a guy with a talent as a front man and ladies

sammy hagar- croaky voice and no feeling

    gary cherone-who??

  • @LOMAZ5150 Wow, that's some expert analysis there.

  • @MegaKoeyKue why thankyou

  • @MegaKoeyKue Like ya irony dude, yeap more personal feelings statements here than common facts .-)

  • @jdhj25 Where did they go with Cherone then?

  • alex van halen is so fucking underrated

  • Eddie Van Halen is what made this band what it is..... I personally enjoy both Sammy and David.... as long as there is some sweet guitar playing that'll make nearly any song great in my opinion

  • I don't have anything against DLR but when you're dissin' Sammy you're dissin' a man who has written the lyrics and sang (and often played guitar) on 3 platinum, 2 3x platinum, 1 4x platinum, 1 6x platinum and 3 gold albums since 1973. The man is a rock legend and righteously so. Music is a matter of individual taste and opinion, but considering credentials backed by record sales, Sammy clearly wins between the two.

  • @OU812SanDiego Up a against a man with two diamond, one 5x Platinum, one 4x platinum, one 3x platinum, one 2x platinum, 2 platinum and one gold album since 1978. I agree that Sammy is quite good but not as good as Roth.

  • @jdhj25 Roth is Van Halen..........

  • VH was different with Sammy than they were with Roth, but to pretend that the stuff they did with Sammy sucked is just stupid. ANY real musician will tell you that the stuff they did with Sammy was much more technical and mostly totally awesome in its own right. To act like Dave was a "harder" singer than the guy who began with Montrose, the Red Rocker, a guy who Dave surely looked up to as a younger man seems ludicrous to me especially considering the fact that Sammy sings circles around Dave.

  • @OU812SanDiego Sammy cant write a song without the word "Love" in it..........I'm from St. Louis(his stronghold) and I never could stand him.....Thank God Diamond Dave is back.....

  • @WhySoSerious1966 ... Sammy has written more songs without the word "love" in them than DLR has ever written period ... easy ... if I must prove you wrong I will on Monday ... but that'll be a lot of posts!

  • @OU812SanDiego Simple fact though, Van Halen with Roth is what made then famous, and to date still considered to be Van Halen in most peoples minds. The songs were better, the shows were better, and they were a rock band, not a pop band. I Sammy is so great, why does Chickenfoot suck so bad then?

  • @WhySoSerious1966 VH's success early is mostly attributed to the awesome guitar playing of Eddie accompanied by great bass licks and backing vocals from Anthony, and the pounding beats of Alex fronted by a great and extremely attractive young showman DLR. DLR is a great showman and only a decent musician/vocalist. It is and always was a fickle business. re: Chickenfoot, stating that J Satriana, Michael Anthony, Chad Smith and Sammy suck again shows your ignorance. Not as popular true suck no

  • @OU812SanDiego i'm a real musician and i'd say the early stuff w/ roth is way more "technical" as eddies guitar playing sort of declined ,for a lack of a better word ,after 1984. Musicians and Van Halen fans ,would you agree with that???

  • @hirskdubbi absolutely. Eddie lost the "fire" in his playing after "1984". He tended to use the same licks alot. He seemed to lose the "testosterone" in his playing.(They say your testosterone drops when you get married. hmmmm..)

  • @cptneurotic1 I'd say he lost it during "1984"

  • @ClassicShotMK3 u may have a point w things like jump and a couple others.though things like girl gone bad, eddies classic talent shines through

  • @hirskdubbi in general I wouldn't say his playing declined i'd say he has always had his own very distinct style and he's stuck with it his entire career. Although, as his drug and alcohol use finally caught up with him it did affect his playing drastically.. but the same could be said for countless rock stars

  • @kenroy916 its cool, but your basically saying his playing didnt decline, but after drugs and alcohol caught up w/ him his playing declined lol. So the bottom line here i think we can all agree. Eddies playing eventually declined, lost its fire, however you wanna say it. Ive seen some new performances lately and i have to say eddies playing great, especially compared to the last tour. It seems like he's been clean and practicing alot im sure. Cheers Edward! we love ya man!

  • @hirskdubbi Maybe,up untill........NOW!

  • So are some of you all in here stuck in 1985 or what? Sammy was in the band now he isn't. Dave did solo stuff. Eddie is a drunk. Alex is Alex. Michael just seems like an awesome dude

  • To me, who gives a sh## if Van Halen went No.1 on anything....Anything they did with Sammy was soooo damn soft anyway, if it did go No. 1, it must've sucked anyway.....

  • Double bass drum! like it and cow bell! nice work....

  • @jdhj25 incorrect

  • @xTheFormlessOnedx ugh I hate van hagar...

  • I still crank "old" VH in my car all these years later...but I don't gush over Ed like all you lifeless sad saks. Most of you boobs are probably in your 50's on up! Sad.

    P.S. ED LOOKS LIKE SHEMP!!!

  • @PerryGunnite

and it's common knowledge that Shemp used to fuck your mom and pass her on to everyone of his buddies as well

  • Am I the only one who thinks this solo is epic ?

  • @evanderguitarist no. you aren´t the only one.

  • @evanderguitarist nope!!

  • I like the early Van Halen with the original members, that's for sure. Yet, all of Van Halen's music has been awesome including the later stuff with Hagaar. Moreover, whatever band Eddie is in, that is Van Halen.

  • Say what you want, but Eddie and Alex were always present, and that's all that matters. Van Halen didn't go Number 1 on Billboard until Sammy anyway....so don't get your yamaka in a bunch.

  • @MegaRain8 Jump from the 1984 album hit #1 on the billboard charts.

  • As long as Eddie is in the band..It still Rocks. He's the best Guitar player in the world.

  • One ear to the ground - listenin' to the dead

  • you can hear mozart's influence on eddie...

  • @InternationalThugg Yeah, fucking rock me Amadeus!!!!!! Partying like it's 1784 man! Ahh. See what I did there, instead of 1984? Yeah, you got it.

  • 2 people dislike??? more like one with two accounts yeah sammy hagar

  • Only 78 thousand views? What kinda bullshit is that?

  • AWESOME!

  • ビートたけしのTV番組「レッツゴー南野くん」で使われた曲ww

  • 2 people are fuckin stupid

  • hah tre :)

  • 2 people should be hung high

  • @EVHrocks1 higher then high dude

  • no Michael Anthony, no Van Halen

  • @SonicGem5 ill trade dave back for michael anyday than again im a humble person

  • This song is a great example of Eddie's rhythm skills. So syncopated and dynamic... then one balls out kick ass solo. Rock music at it's absolute finest.

  • Bad to the Bone!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My favorite song from this album!

I'll never forget, back in the day, how many complained there were too many remakes on this album! Funny stuff

  • woow

  • You need a reality check Rickster. Michael was in no way a traitor to VH. Eddie decided on a whim he wanted to play with his son and he made the decision to have Wolfy play bass and basically kicked Mike out of VH. How you connect those dots and determine that makes Mike a traitor is pretty good. Must be fun living in your delusional fantasy world. Eddie once rocked, but alcohol has destroyed much of his talent for many years. Hopefully he can stay clean because he's a superb talent.

  • i hate modern society all the music is shit these days

  • I dedicate this song to The Gay Ass Kid who is famous this day in time... You may know who im talking about initials are JB... HANG EM' HIGH!!!

  • @MidnightRambler73 That's just my opinion. You're free to think whatever you want about it. (Personally, though, I think I'd rank OU812 lower.

  • Love that break...Eddie fuckin flyin high...the whole band on this one are untouchable!!

  • I'm pretty sure this is the fastest song VH ever played... 264BPM.

  • man i just cant get over the deft touch and ears and just fascinating phrasing by that guitar player. And the control in those paws. And man the whole band was just so practiced up and started so young playing together and gigged couple hundred times by late teens. VH rules I may just surround myself by at least cheap cardboard cut-outs em, perhaps erect- no poon intended- statues of em, build a stage in the basement, put em on it. I gotta get it done b4 wife wakes up...hmmm...

  • Good job and thank you for sharing.

  • Little Dreamer Atomic Punk Light Up the Sky are my favorites

  • @goldenthug9 All great songs. I love the LUTS drums solo.

  • Ever since I was 5 I thought Eddie Was the greatest Guitar player in the world.

  • This is a pretty good album for a rush job, forget the cover tunes, the original jams are great, they're awesome, totally awesome!

  • I think Dave is the best visual show man and a great singer, Hagar was good, but he took Eddie away from his guitar, Dave let him at it. However you just cant beat Humans being except for Jump which only Dave can do.

  • @erik530195 Not to say Jump sucks, but Mean Street is their best song, and I think Humans Being is one of their worst

  • @cford1992 I like Humans being. Not one of my favourites, but not bad. I (personally) loath Top Of The World. Really, I think that album was one of the Hagar days' worse ones.

  • @PowerMetalEuphonist All Hagar albums suck. When Dave left, the band sucked except for Eddie, Alex , and yeah even the traitor Michael Anthony Chicken foot bitch!!

  • @rikkster100 The Fuck you talkin bout willis. Michael A got the boot from Eddie and was replaced by Wolfgang. Gotta feel pretty shitty to have a little fat punk to take your place after thirty years with the band. Whats he supposed to do hang his bass up for good. Get real

  • @rikkster100 Actually Ed fired Anthony, and Michael, being the bad ass he is, said he wasn't gonna sit on his ass and do nothing, he didn't betray anybody- Eddie's ego went to his head

  • Nobody better dislike this, if you do, your ass better run, because Van Halen's gonna hang you high

  • Playing the guitar like he does... man, it's like mozzarella melting, it's like juggling 10 balls at once and lighting up a cig, it's like sex on Viagra at 18 ****

  • @mizukisoupe Does that stuff really work?

  • THIS SONGS THE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • I typed in Hang Em High and Iwas expecting van halen but at the front page was My Chemical Romance . WTF!!!

  • and thus pilate washed his hands and said: hang em high. happy easter everyone!

  • i hate how people dont like sammy. they had really good songs with sammy. Sammy sings better live any ways. But yet i do agree Dave fits Eddies style a lot better. But sammy is a good singer you cant say hes not

  • @kDelPrete101 Sammy is better live because Dave use to perform live drunk. At lease that was the case when I saw VH in 84.

  • @swlabr21

Dave farting in a fucking jar is better than Sammy playing at his best....Sorry, it's the way it is!

  • DLR + EVH = Destiny!

  • AND IM A BLACK GIRL!! talk about toleration eh!

  • DONT WORRY @CFORD1992 YOUR NOT THE ONLY 90'S OFF SPRING WHO HAS TO TOLERATE SECOND RATE BS LIKE JUSTIN BLUBBER! I was born in 91.... if i could just live one day, maybe even an hour in the 80's to see shit like these... I WOULD!

  • Sammy Hagar is nothing compared to Diamond Dave.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Sammy in Montrose is cool, but not Van Halen

  • Alex is so under rated

  • These guys were so on fire here...

  • 1:44 to 2:05 best

  • Being an 18 year old, and growing up in today's society where music is ruled by weirdos like Lady Gaga, overrated assholes like Kanye West, and little queers like Justin Beiber, I can honestly say that it has been an honor to know that Van Halen is a timeless band that will never fade unlike the assholes who rule the charts now. This is one of those songs that make Van Halen a timeless band, but only with David, Hagar's a useless tool. LONG LIVE VAN HALEN!

  • @cford1992 I found this dude called Junior Brown cruising the YT stuff. Check his music out. Its like old cool country with rock, surf and even a great Hendrix Foxy Lady cover. For 18 you have great taste. I have Kahler's 1979 NAMM guitar, 80s guitars and bass and this was when I could just practice 8 hours a day. The Satchmo is horn related but Eddie was for EVH. The jocks tagged me with that one. I see total hacks on M TV now and I thought it sucked in 1985, and its 100x worse. Unbelievable.

  • @cford1992 In exactly the same position as you, tired of modern "music". So i started listening to old Rock, Heavy rock, Metal, Heavy metal. Anything that "normal" people hate, i love.

  • Zero dislikes? Fuck Yeah

  • it didnt sound like Van halen with sammy lol it was Van Hagar.

  • Love it!!

Dave blows Sammy away! Sorry, but it's true...

    VH sucked after DLR left..

  • @41jarse

Yep, I don't even listen to VH past 1984.

  • @41jarse Disagree, the sammy years were the highlight of the band's career.

  • @mochacola1323 my vagina says the same thing.

  • @41jarse Yeah, all those number one albums david lee roth had.... Oh yeah, they didnt have any number one albums until Sammy Hagar came around... and they had 4, not just one.

I dont understand why people are so biased to DLR.... I enjoy both equally. Not sure why you types limit yourself.

go listen to "AFU" if you want to hear "raw" van halen with hagar.

  • @JgHaverty DONT be silly roth sold more

  • @41jarse Sammy Hagar's solo work is much better than his work with Van Halen!

  • @41jarse Hagar's a fucking useless ass tool, so very true

  • Really could have been the perfect band...except for DLR's voice. DLR had everything -- looks, smarts, stage presence, charisma coming in spades...but his voice just doesnt have ANY range whatsoever. Would have loved to seen a truly great singer with this band, a young Robert Plant, Chris Cornell, in that vein.

  • @khuddle its been provin that van halen is dlr along with the others, sammy had some luck with um but the fans including me dubbed them van hager and gary sherone was out before he was in

  • Really could have been the perfect band...except for DLR's voice. DLR had everything -- looks, smarts, stage presence, charisma coming out in spades...but his voice just doesnt have ANY range whatsoever. Would have loved to seen a truly great singer with this band, a young Robert Plant, Chris Cornell, in that vein.

  • @khuddle they tried that with gary cherone. It lasted... one crappy album lol

  • Dave, Eddie, Alex, & Michael.....VAN FUCKIN' HALEN!!!

  • Exactly.

  • This song proves that not all 80's music sucks.

  • Do you know how hard it is to play those leads in perfect time with the rest of the song? Do you have any idea? God!

  • This is so Cool I love the begining and the end IT ROCKS MAN!!

  • A fantastic ass-kicker of a tune - and that hook is STILL hell to pull off after all these years....lol

  • 57 votes up

    0 votes down

It had better stay that way or ill open up a can o' woop ass on which ever cock sucker voted down!

  • Van FN Halen

  • this song clocks in at 240 beats per minute...with double bass....that makes this early thrash metal disguised with that Van Halen sound.....bad ass song. I metronomed it at 235-240...its in 4/4 cut time. never realized that....impressive for 1982

  • @netrioter

More speed then thrash metal. I think Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and (these guys are the thrashiest) Venom would be the earliest thrash metal.

  • It has a Western-ish feel to it. Ed always knew how to converge a tone to his listeners when he wanted to.

    Today's music lasts a week.

    Good music lasts a month.

Legendary music lasts for 20 years and longer.

Van Halen made it's rightful place in history, If you had to put Van Halen on a Tier scale of music, It would definitely go under "God-like" in my book.

  • My fave part of this song is when Ed slams the bar to rip into the solo, then hits it again when he ends the solo. Listen to how fierce those book-ended dive bombs sound. Has the same intensity of a Harley a split second before it peels out.

  • @monsta64 you are spot on my friend. All in one take into the bargain. There's lots of little stuff he does in the verses which is just pure feel. Rhythm and lead all just rattled off like dat. Beer down, play, NEXT! That's classic VH - and class guitar playing. I only hope EVH has rediscovered that spirit of falling down the stairs to see if he lands on his feet! We'll soon find out.

  • @gyugug Thank you! That's the magic of Ed. In an interview once, I recall him asking the interviewer to just simply listen to his rhythm on the FAIR WARNING album. Ed was always about pure feeling and constructing sound. Hope the new stuff coming up adds to his legacy.

Speaking of solos my fave all-time Randy solo is from "Diary..." on a track called S.A.T.O.

Check out the different parts that make it up. I would love to hear Zakk play that one especially with his screaming, 1-note "bites"

  • @monsta64 i love randy

  • I would love to see sammy sing this :D

  • Great song, so underrated WTF! Van Halen is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    !

  • Fantastic song. Huge influence on me and probably one of my top 5 fave Van halen songs!

  • One of the coolest, most overlooked Van Halen songs ever. Thanks for posting this and the album. Have missed this one...

  • great song..........great drumming

  • Some old school with a touch of classic' Thanks poster'
