How about if I walk through the airport screening with only my boxer shorts as a quick way to avoid pat downs? How is that different from being told to strip or "pat downs?"
Getting twice through those security machines is not a good idea. After all, those work using radiation. While they claim is safe, no amount of machine radiation is safe. Eventually, cancer or other chronic disease develops and of course... no one is to blamed for but the ill person.

I have gone through airport security many times. I have always been treated politely and with respect. If I were asked to be patted down, I would comply, because I would have nothing to hide. I have been patted down going into sports events. I would not "feel like a criminal" just because somebody was doing his or her job. I think these protests are misdirected anger.

You voluntarily agree to wave your 4th amendment rights every time you go through airport security, if you don't want to be searched then drive in a car, take the train, or fly in a private plane. If you refuse to submit to a search then the TSA can refuse to let you into the airport. Refusing a pat-down isn't an offense, it's your right, but attempting to enter a secure area when you haven't been cleared is a breach of the peace.

I have gone through airport security many times. I have always been treated politely and with respect. If I were asked to be patted down, I would comply, because I would have nothing to hide. I have been patted down going into sports events. I would not "feel like a criminal" just because somebody was doing his or her job. I think these protests are misdirected anger.

If you refuse to submit to a search then the TSA can refuse to let you into the airport. Refusing a pat-down isn't an offense, it's your right, but attempting to enter a secure area when you haven't been cleared is a breach of the peace.

Why not do background checks and interview people to see if they could be a threat. If they're cleared they can get an ID that would allow them to fly without going through this ridiculous process?

I think its ridicules that this happens. I believe the USA should adopt the Israelis system of which works more efficiently. Only the US uses this kind of tactic. I think the US has caused more harm to the general public in constantly hammering into the un-educated minds of its citizen and this kind of thinking has caused more terror then necessary. You can thank GW bush for all this terror.
