  • Excellent presentation. The day Huygens landed I was so happy that it was successful!

  • Oh look, off-topic political bullshit on a video about astronomy. Even a Godwin! I'd say "grow up" but that always falls on deaf ears.

I wonder if Dr. Sagan would still be so optimistic about humanity's future if he'd lived to witness Youtube comments.

  • Titan is a great place to escape.. I mean

About 5 Billion years the Sun will enter the red giant Phase, We will see the sun the same size as the Earth. Saturn has hold so many secrets to be found.

  • I see no correlation between this video and these comments before.

Here, let me show you how to do it right:

    1) Watch video again

    2) Understand

    3) Feel something valuable

    4) Share with others

    Ok here goes:

I think it is great that humans are finally getting a peek at so many wonderful places within our home solar system. It helps us understand how rare and fragile our planet is, and we are. Maybe we should try to remember that we are all in this together.

    Got it? Your turn.

  • your voice is the one you would here on a cheesy advert advertising something rubbish

  • Awesome!

  • i know but you like it enough to have it right there, i can beat that i have a ww2 collection, footage of britain being bombed to ruble, the japs evaporating and the allied powers taking Germany, at the time they included you but Patton traveled twice the distance and still beat you there so i think you need to open your eyes, i guarantee this middle east war will be over very soon.reason you attack us we retaliate until there is no proof life ever existed at this location

  • @duffmann3 you give Americans a bad name.

  • @ParkerFarker i think he gives Americans the true name of being stronger and persevering, fuckin a right more than 60 percent own guns civilians are the real military and people underestimate us everyday...a truly fatal error of judgement

  • @The357python no. His is an anger-fueled comment comparing dick sizes with other countries from behind an anonymous computer screen. The reason you've got so many guns in America is because you can't even trust your own neighbours. There's a lot of people in my country who I wouldn't trust, but reason goes a long way, my friend. Something obviously lacking in a lot of America. Comparing yourself, on any scale, to something else is what creates social divides: extreme poverty and extreme wealth.

  • 25 percent of britain is clinically obese not to far from the us but unlike you we have been taking action for years and watching the numbers fall btw it is more than 60 percent blacks and latinos who are the fat ones, i graduated from Pinkerton Academy thats like a fuckin university to u people

  • on the boat behind the mayflower i am a Goodwin there are 600 of them in the northeast alone you do not know who you are talking to frenchy

  • military power does matter it keeps us safe and secures our superiority as the worlds superpower,so many nukes we can blow up the world including oceans 10 times over why don't we? because we are good guys so stop fucking talking shit about the greatest place on earth , the American revolution basically started the french one , there are not many who think like me and know the truth because they believe what they here and don't question it. Also that i am a true blooded american

  • i need say only one thing your using something that was invented by america and im happy you brought up minority's i never expected anybody other than a smart white true America to understand and since America the beautiful is composed of fifty states it really is more stable than any other i dont like people from other country's because the world hates us for helping more than any civilization ever has. people come here because there is no better place and a couple of boats in our revolution

  • @duffmann3 lol our economy is going to collapse hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahh hahahahhahhahaha ha aha ha ha ha hahhahaha aww lol thats funny btw India hahahaha ok wait lol India is the most pro America country other than ourselves lol damn your stupid you need some American funded education lol

  • @duffmann3 it is dickhead, take your head out of your big fat american ass and read some news, oh wait sorry all your news is censored or biased. try looking up fort calhoun nuclear power plant the one thats flooded and should be of concern to everyone. Nothing !!!!!!!!!! its been blacked out by YOUR great government because you cant handle truth because it makes you cry. you dont know how nations are really laughing at you right now waiting for your demise.

  • @NationDumb your anti american i watched your gay movie intro for a second and stoped it on 911, i wish i had some royal wedding 911 footage lol or Eiffel tower but those are not good targets they would not start a war,the worlds lagest buildings at the time were,by the way if you know about Nebraska's power plant flood, you musty know that the trade centers had daycare upon daycare throughout its 110 stories, i bet you dislike your own soldiers fighting in the middle east, 2,752 Americans agree

  • @duffmann3 i speak for those who lost there lives that day

  • @NationDumb your just a pussy brit when we came here we changed we evolved into the american stronger faster more intelligent...better looking lol in every way possible we have proved to be the best and will continue to do so long after the fall of all you, in my opinion you are weak and useless a mass somewhat leeching off the earth for resources, when real civilizations are thriving

  • @duffmann3 leeching off earth for resources ? how the hell do you get yours then dickhead ?! buying oil from the middle east when you have your own largest oil fields in the world and you get screwed for $4 per gallon ? is that intelligent ? NO ! invading countries for terrorists that the usa made up and the government killing its own people for the sake of a war for more oil ? usa was great at one time but now its turning into a TSA run dictatorship just like germany under hitler - good luck

  • Respond to this video... oh and just for the record... that wasnt my movie intro, i have no video uploads (: but i forgot you have your eyes shut. enjoy your FEMA camps.

  • osama, sadam, whitey bulger America is unstoppable i wish you could prove me wrong America needs a real challenge

  • NASA! you nob.... British probe. European space agency mission. get it right.

  • NASA! you nob.... British probe. European space agency mission. get i right.

  • Methane is actually odorless. A lot of people think methane stinks. The same with propane or butane. No, that's other gases, like hydrogen sulfide, or thiols. Thiols are chemicals that contain a hydrogen and sulfur bond. Ethanethiol is an additive for commercial hydrocarbons for example. It's used to make it stink so gas leaks can be detected by olfaction. Many hydrocarbons are odorless. Also, the probe doesn't actually sniff the atmosphere. It detects gases using methods like mass spectrometry.

  • Astronauts had no proof of Titan's life.My friend told me that Titan is like life on Earth

  • That moon's air must smell like a rank fart

  • @innHD well, we don't need to go all the way to Titan in order to breathe that in...

  • so titan has water and the pictures blow and nothings clear talk about some bullsheet

  • @NOPANDEMIC liquid methane not water, from what I have read

  • Carl Sagan couldn't wait for this probe. It's so sad that he died :(

  • @selearemus Yeah! I'm feeling so sorry for him!..

  • Awesome! Another place to live???

  • Was it real or computer animation?

  • @Crazyfuqndude it's a real photo that is enhanced and CG-fied

  • could have done without the first 1min 20 sec of the video along with the stupid commentary

  • @CapzLockCrew so wrong

  • it is a european prob not nasa.thats right! but i think after earth and mars, titan can be the ideal place for life in our s.system.

  • @handsom02 Actually scientists believe that Eyropa is the most likely place for life in our solar system. (Europa is one of Jupiters moons.)

  • @farzanjava It was an ESA and ASI contribution to the NASA Cassini mission. It was carried to Titan by the NASA Cassini probe and the entire program was jointly managed by NASA/ESA at NASA JPL labs.

  • Nice video, thanks for sharing. I can't help but wonder about the narrator's accent - if it's natural or if it's an attempted Sagan-ish voice?

  • @negativewashout is that important?

  • @farzanjava LOL what are you talking about??? Huygens has been ENTIRELY developed by ESA, and it's been built in Cannes, France. Actually you're taliking about a FUTURE PROPOSED mission of NASA. Nothing to do with this one.

  • @mariusrodrigo Not entirely. The ASI made contributions to hardware on the probe and the parachute and trajectory were developed by British and German aerospace firms and the whole thing was carried to Titan by NASA. Besides national pride has nothing to do with collective human scientific achievements.

  • WATER ICE WATER ICE WATER ICE WATER ICE

    SO BOOTYFULL

can please be microbes and simple organism?

for those of you who say life cannot survive in such arid and cold conditions, check out "Water bears" on Wikipedia. They can survive terrible radiation (such as in Jovian systems) and they can go for years without water. They can even survive the cold of space. Keep in mind that water bears evolved on the most pleasant, temperate planet in the system. Titan microbes will be hardcore.

  • seigneur, c'est magnifique !

  • fak all you fags, wheres the video about my probe landing on endor bitches?

  • If Titan was only closer to the sun.............

  • Comment removed

  • How come anything relating to space causes people to say that they're covering up pictures of massive alien cities or that all space operations have never happened? It's okay to believe that humans can accomplish tough things, and it's also okay to understand that unhospitable conditions won't give rise to intelligent life. Contrary to apparently popular belief, scientist generally know stuff about what they're getting payed to do, like know that cold=dead.

  • These days, everything is american :)

Just watched a 1 hour documentary about Venus and they didn`t mention once that russian probes have been there first and several times...

  • i've been to titan, its a bit foggy but has some nice lakes to swim in and the food is amazing.

  • they should of put a sega saturn on the probe and when it lands it should place it there cos that would be cool

  • Alright, enough! I want to go live on Titan and probe it's vaporous atmosphere!

  • this video is amazing. positively brilliant.

  • The Huygen Probe is actually an ESA mission project.

  • fuck you all, this mission is NASA/ESA mission

  • wonderful simulation! Third (robotic) landing to an alien planet or moon, after luna and mars. One step further for humankind!

  • @interted

Actually we've also landed on Venus.

  • Yeah, it was a Soviet Union probe, but it was destroyed in minutes by the extreme heat.

  • it wan't just the heat. It was the extreme pressure too!!!

  • What do you call Venus?

    What about Eros or Itokawa?

  • @Boy75402 Yeah, I forgot the Venera spacecrafts, awful mistake. Of course landings to asteroids are very important as well.

  • probes landed on Venus as well

  • NO! Its Venus, Mars Jupiter (Galileo probe) and then Titan. The Galileo did not show images of solid ground but it was a plunge into the gas giant.

  • I LIKED IT!

  • people have been faking god(s) for thousands of years and religions still have millions of followers. sorry cosmored you have a weak argument.

  • just go fuck yourself

  • serisouly go fuck yourself just because you still live with your mum and you can't execpt the truth doesn't mean you have the rights to piss everyone else off

  • @Cosmored

if anyone took that seriously they would look it up for themselves. Don't bother posting this again.

  • @Cosmored I just un-spammed you. But you're still an e-git. Scientists don't fake space missions.. they have other scientists watching them.

Yes, we, humanity, landed on the Moon. Get used to the concept.

  • As Carl Sagan pointed out, exploring space is (in real dollar terms) as expensive for us as exploring the world by sail was for 17th century Europeans. So perhaps fewer pointless wars of colonization would help out here...

  • where are you going to get ur vitamins and minerals? :P

  • This is EASILY the least interesting work in Lewis Black's voiceover career.

  • Unfortunately true... I recently looked at a picture that was a visual representation of the US government budget. Out of hundreds of billions, only 17 billion goes to fund NASA. Now, the Obama administration is calling the new moon missions "too expensive". This is really pathetic. If humanity is going to even survive in the long term, we need to explore and expand, and we just aren't.

  • Terraform please I want to be first man on Titan please after its earth like plz?. Is that too much to ask?

  • @Agogaraxis First man on Titan after terraforming? Too much to ask? Too little to ask. Much greater would be to be numbered among those performing the terraforming.

  • NASA and EASA know that all the space journeys and equipment they are acquiring are mainly for theoritical and academic studies of these celestrial objects. To justify their expenses, in my own view, NASA and EASA would say they are looking for worlds that we may live in if the earth were to go pear-shaped; there had been good spinoffs though from these space programes like satellites and space stations but to talk about humans living in some planets in space will take millenia to achieve.

  • Why not build Orion and travel to the stars

  • I really liked the music

  • This is not a NASA probe! It's european!

  • @mariusrodrigo NASA/ESA/ASI probe.

  • @mariusrodrigo Cassini is Nasa, the probe Huygens is ESA. both are working well, eve the Cassini mission has just been extended

  • @rochelimit55555 Yes you're right.

  • @mariusrodrigo I seen Uranus when european

  • @mariusrodrigo

True! But, at the end, who cares, it's human ^ ^

  • @mariusrodrigo if you were truly interested in space like America you know NASA and the european space administration are working together on this project together but its not like we need your help, just remember when you look at the moon every night that its ours

  • @duffmann3 NASA and ESA are working together on the Cassini-Huygens mission. BUT: Cassini is American, and the Huygens lander (in the video) is 100% European, and has been built in France.

So America has nothing to with this lander like it or not.

Oh and BTW the Moon is not yours, since no country is allowed to claim a planet or a satellite, and the Soviets landed there first with their robots..

  • @mariusrodrigo yes America does own the moon our flag that i love and all of you hate is up there in the sea of tranquility along with footprints of the only people to walk its surface so i win? idk anyway most powerful military the world will ever see

  • @duffmann3 Are you idiot or what?? According to the OUTER SPACE TREATY (1979), signed and ratified by the US, no country can claim the soveregnity of a celestial body since it's the common heritage of mankind.

I think you've failed on this one lol.

BTW NASA is now finished due to all the budget cuts, and I'm very sad of it cause they made great achievements.

America is now a declining power, and China will soon have a more powerfull military.

  • @mariusrodrigo ww2 ,should have let the french die they got attacked by the Germans on the same route as ww1 seriously you are fucking stupid, just so you know America has the fastest growing population still to this day there is a child limit in china, good there rats crawling on each other reproducing...like rats,America will never decline we had a stable government from the start something nobody has ever had btw you wouldn't know America is declining because you don't live here

  • @duffmann3 btw France wasn't involved in the outer space treaty because they are weak and they don't matter i believe i win

  • @duffmann3 France signed and ratified the treaty, just like the US.

Oh and BTW, France is the 3rd world space power, so check your facts.

  • @duffmann3 Funny isn't it? We're on a space exploration video, and you're talking about WWII lol.

Too bad so many americans have a complex vis a vis Europe and the rest of the world. Otherwise you would be a great people.

PS: Be happy France was there for your revolutionnary war..

  • @duffmann3 Like it or not, the US is declining. Your economy is likely to collapse this summer (not a good thing for the world economy too) due to the debt, the military expenditure will be cut by $100bn within 4 year. Your white population is declining, and without the latinos and blacks, you would have a serious demographic issue.

Even if the birth rate is low in China, they are 3 times as populous as America, so you have no chance. China will have surpass your economy by 2020. And India..

  • @mariusrodrigo If china surpasses are economy that's not bad

They have fucking like.. 1.5 billion people man. they should already have a bigger economy with that many people, but they don't due to their low standards

  • @duffmann3 I sure hope you're trolling. I spent 2 years in texas and i'm glad people who think like you aren't many. War isn't a game, kid. We don't measure the value of a country by its military force. The only thing I can advise you is to travel a bit, open your mind up. The shit that just came out of your mouth makes you no better than our past enemies.

  • @mariusrodrigo we can do this and fight a war at the same time unlike typical pussy France god we have to help you guys with everything...not my call i say we let the weak fall...America Fuck Yeah!

  • @mariusrodrigo and i love what the description says american technology got it there, watch apollo 13

  • @duffmann3 Yes the NASA probe get the European lander there. This is what I call intelligent cooperation.

Thanks god people like you don't work in space agencies..

  • We have probed Mars, we have never sent a man to Mars.

  • @Roovensally Aren't we still probing Mars - the rovers still roving? Technology is the extended hand and eyes of man.

  • I think we should set up a research and mining operations on Titan rather than Earth's Moon. It's the most hospitable world ever, everything you need to power your own colony is just laying on the surface ready for use. It's probably the best place to set up a permanent settlement, especially when the sun starts to expand past the orbit or Earth and heat Titan to habitable temperatures.

  • Terraform that shit!

  • @versalmighty dumb comment... ever done some cloud-gazing?

  • oxymoron616:

"Whoever did this is imitating the new prez. Discolored, obfuscated - those dark regions are due to NASA's censors. They sure as hell won't show real pictures from Titan, not after they released an image of the coastline including LARGE buildings with arched entrances, and roads."

It must take years of practice to construct such utterly sensationalist vitriolic nonsense. Well done sir.

  • @AleximusMaximus

    e-git

  • @8DX

Ok, you replied to an 8 month old comment. That's insane. Moving on: based on your other comments, we appear to be on the same side? Did you misread my comment?

  • @AleximusMaximus Oh, sorry - I didn't see the quotes.. Comes of rushing through comments while waiting for my late-night laggy videos to load.

    Cheers!

  • @8DX No problem, it's happened to me before :)

  • @AleximusMaximus Notice that this is an animation, all that is missing i tha Mc Donalds & Coca Cola signs.

  • @taxituer46 I'm not sure what you mean

  • @AleximusMaximus: Don't feed the troll.

  • @albedoshader I didn't feed the troll. I pretty obviously said he had cultivated his trolling skills well, and congratulated him.

You however, are guilty of practising necromancy on comments over a year old. Cease and desist newfag.

  • @AleximusMaximus: I'm sorry for not looking at the age of the comment, what I normally do, oldfag.

  • @AleximusMaximus

There will always be those who always see what they want. Many of these guys even cry conspiracys about NASAS pictures being upside down, when its a original picture...

  • i coudn't hear a word he was saying. it was all fuzzy. but it's an awsome vid still

  • The ground is made of dusty materials, but not made of rocks like on the Earth. The dust is made of ice.

    -RC

  • Fantastic...

  • This movie was built with data collected during the 147-minute plunge through Titan's thick orange-brown atmosphere to a soft sandy riverbed by the European Space Agency's Huygens Descent Imager/Spectral Radiometer on Jan. 14, 2005......Continue reading!

  • Comment removed

  • This is not a NASA probe, it's european (built in France).

  • @mariusrodrigo NASA/ESA/ASI. Don't be so quick to discredit everyone involved.

  • @DonutsNeedSprinkles NO Huygens is a 100% ESA probe. Cassini is American, so the mission is NASA/ESA, but certainly not the descent probe!! Get your facts mate.

  • wtf are you talking about?

  • hm, just wondering

  • Don't worry. Just one of those New World Order conspiracy theorists who thinks there's some single secret person or group controlling the world.....aka just paranoia caused by blazing too much weed while simultaneously watching the Wizard of Oz and listening to Dark Side of the Moon.....

  • Hey illuminatislut! They would have to actually get to Titan first; these space programs have put crafts into orbit, but the moon missions and probes are simply farces made possible by mass psych ops and advanced imaging technologies.

(Why do I have the feeling there will be a heckler on this comment....)

  • heckler ;p

  • @feverblistery heckle heckle.. oh 1 year too late..

  • @illuminatislut Right now,the attention is paid to terraforming the Mars, rather than Titan. Titan will probably never be terraformed,it's to distant from the Sun,plants cannot grow there, but colonization is possible.

  • I would MUCH rather see money spent on space than on welfare trash like some of the ones addicted to crack and meth in my hoem town!

  • you shoulda voted republican then...

  • Republicans have never gotten rid of welfare or even spoken about it and the Democrats approved the mission you just watched... Obama himself is for investing in private-public space partnerships which will bring profit and commerce to Erath orbit and bring down the cost of science missions.

  • i was just playing on stereotypes, im not even american. lol.

  • lol

  • @dobermans4you2 fuck yeah

  • lets chat

    ANY GUYS UP? SW

  • come on lets chat

  • of course, its a simulation.

  • Thank you very much for this video!

  • amazing achievment

  • thats awsome

  • it took the men of nasa and the european organisations 14 years to construct and blast off cassini and you dont even show a little respect i cant believe it

  • why are u such a moron dude?

  • Iwas going to say, "it takes one to know one!"

    Hahahahahah...well to answer your question,

I do it because it is REAL HARD WORK, and I like to be challenged. Being a moron is not

so easy, I have to take away REASON & ACCOUNTABILITY!

  • but stuff to do with the American space program is soo friggin important...do u know why....cause if our planet was to ever be compromised what the hell are we going to do....just sit here? id like to think not some of the planets around saturn and jupiter have the possibility to maybe create life and the space program is the only way to study and possibly make it to these planets so if u want to be a moron and die then u can but im gonna suport these space projects....sorry

  • you are so self-righteous, you must be very young. Listen Bucko, the earth is the only planet we've got, and inter planetary space

travel will take centuries...we'll both be

long dead by then. But it is good to have

dreams, work hard to make them come true!

  • im not self rightious you idiot i just want people to have an actual choice to die or not and im sure even u want that option! And plus if u want earth to be the only planet so be it but other people trieing to do more than just sit here and say "fuck it"

  • Right comment! wrong place!

  • Awesome post. So are you saying that 100% there is no Carbon Dioxide on this moon?

  • Titan has no oxygen. The water found on Titan is just mainly made up of methane and other natural chemicals. And the reason for no oxygen is because there is no Co2 which is what plants need to survive, the plants produce oxygen by recycling the Co2. It may be possible for life to eventually exist on Titan, but as of now, it's pretty much impossible. unless you have a huge filter big enough for a whole planet to purify the methane out of the water. and a bunch of other things.

  • is there oxygen on that planet cuz water is h2o and the o mean oxygen so how cud there be water with no oxygen... just tryin to think logical.. and is the difrence between a planet and a moon is a planet has a core and a moon is just a solid rock?

  • Is this true footage of the landing? or a simulation? I dont remember seeing the sun from the surface, but if its possible, it means Titan must get spectacular views (if it rotates) of Saturn!! Can anyone confirm this for me?

  • titan does rotate, but i doubt you would get an view of saturn. titan has an extreamily thick atmosphere. but on some of saturn's other moons with little to no atmosphere, you would get some very impressive views of saturn!

  • its just methyne liquid planet not water like europe...
