  • @chechenwolf

Come on, it fits the video perfectly.

  • Well done...

  • @chechenwolf It's not THAT bad, at least it's not Let the Bodies Hit the Floor AKA the music in EVERY OTHER MONTAGE.

  • Look at frames 3:25 and 3:26, you only see it if you pause it, it reads "POSA" then goes right to "Post boost flight", it's too fast to see unless you look at the individual frames

  • Is this actually how the top of the missile silo opens before launch?

  • @BamaKattt Yes it is. The blast door has an explosive charge that when detonated, shoots the door off along rails at about 35 MPH. Need to get it clear some how.

  • cool, thanks for responding, it looked more like something out of a hollywood movie. I remember the old school silos I guess.

  • @BamaKattt yes, so they don't have to wait for a slow opening silo hatch, so why not blow the door off and fire that thing in under a minute

  • Where did you get those clips in such good quality?! I tried looking for them on Grumman website but there isn't any. Could you post a link from which you got them?

  • Why have a system that takes 30 minutes when from Minot AFB to Moscow, It could take 25-27 minutes? From the stage 3 separation of the PBV, the MGS could be carried with the Re-Entry vehicle, and not go that far out into space. The spiral created by the SGG could result in the MGS being put with the Re-Entry vehicle, and shortening the length of flight. Also, put a larger blast warhead or a more tactical warhead on the missile if you can't use the MIRV anymore, I'm 14 and I understand that.

  • we don't do the PK anymore, at least we don't test launch them anymore here at Vandenberg.

  • Minuteman III is an awesome weapon however I'll stick with the rail launched PEACEKEEPER, I like big detonations, huge yields, and thalium ionizing radiation. It scares the shit out of North Korea, Pakistan, and morons. Or, we can threaten them with another Nuetron Bomb. Either is fine. That should have been several MERVs spinning into action but I did like it.

  • @RubberIceCream You're welcome to stick with it, but you do know that the Peacekeeper Rail Garrison was never deployed, correct?

  • am i trippin cause...I DIDNT SEE AN EXPLOSION WHERE THE FUCKS THE KA-BOOM

  • Go, airplane, go! That's what the news says they are these days.

  • '

why this vidoecamera shake shake shake,,,

    no need it shake

  • '

    what about MX missile

  • До России не долетит

  • smaller Yields are used so more ewarheads can be put on one missile around a city one missile can launch warheads at the industrial are the military base and one at the city centre . A few smaller warheads spread out do far more damage than one big warhead in the middle. 3x 300KT raining down is plenty remember Hiroshima was destroyed with 1x 15KT warhead.

  • limited to 3 warheads not 1 due to agreements with russia.

  • it would have been better with a nuclear explotion at the ending

  • 1:15 of credits.....

  • I don't think the reentry vehicle would be that slow, right?

  • This vid makes me proud to have been able work on a great weapon system. 41131A all the way

  • Ich kenn das von dem Film The Day After - Was das anrichten kann! O.o.

  • The video animation here was not produced by anyone in the credits. This animation is a drdp production. The 341st changed the music and added titles, but did not create the animation!!!

  • MMT!!

  • I always hate clips like this: almost TWO minutes of pointless text noone will ever care about.

  • Only 450 of these jewels left on alert and reduced to one warhead. Most of the deterrent is on subs now. SORT will reduce this further if it gets ratified. I'm sure Iran loves Obama for that.

  • The video part was good, the music part sucked. Gave me a headache throughout.

  • I'm not looking forward to the day, but when the comes, God Bless the 341!!

  • The video was excellent. As opposed to that ridiculous music, however, i would have preferred a voice over explaining some of the science behind trajectory and re-entry.

What would the yield of the war head be? Can the yield be adjusted in flight?

Also, seems such a waste to only have one warhead per missile. Damned Strategic arms limitation treaties!

  • Comment removed

  • @geoffck6969 Yield was 170 kilo tons. No way to adjust in flight. One war head due to treaties. Can take 3.

  • @TheJohnboy1968 170kt yield, huh? It's primary role must have been as a counterforce weapon then. Just guessing. Any idea what the average yield was (is) of countervalue warheads? I'm guessing in the range of 200-250kt, likely based on MIRV'ed Trident missiles. That sound right?

  • @geoffck6969 170kt aint enough to bust a modern silo only soft targets..u need at least 300-500kt to do that.

I think countervalue can be anything from 100-500kt.

  • @jamrocx If they're limited to only one warhead now, then why not use 1MT capable device like the Topol M or Minuteman I?

  • @TheJohnboy1968 I believe the yield is 300kt with a single warhead (W87).

The 170kt warhead (W62) was the oldest warhead then the W78.

I think the warhead is also upgradable to 450kt.

  • Very nice video and music!

show how the ICBM and MIRV work, I'm curious about that for a looooong time....

  • Thanks!

  • The music is by Scorched-Earth Policy - Train Rolls Without You (Got from YouTube Audio Swap)

  • that is some amazing engeering!!!

  • @TheDevoFan You REALLY want a boom from a NUKE?! It was mostly computer graphics anyway..........

  • song anyone???

  • Shitty music is shitty.

  • Awesome vid! USA...hell ya!!! Can anyone answer...what is this song???

  • Typical missile dudes. A bunch of credits and no shit?

  • 2 minutes of credits on a 5 minute video ????

  • emt hooah

  • *cough* Trident C4 *cough* The D5 didnt get deployed until 1990... The Soviet Union was well on its way down the tubes by that point. Sorry for the late comment... :P

  • Being that my sn is mm3mmt i feel I must say it was awesome to work on such a bad ass weapon system! MMT!!!

  • wt song is tht?

  • Crazy Americans with their missiles and their rock and roll.

  • lol! correct

  • @MajicTwelve and theyre cheeseburgers.

  • Peacekeeper is out of service already, isn't?

Anyway 10 warheads on MX did not impress compared to soviet 38(!) warheads fitted on "ss-18 satan" ICBM

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • SS-18 Satan brings 10 warheads! And at least 6 of them are not independently targetable warheads. SS-18 is placed only in silos. Now Russia just have 59 rockets of all modifications of SS-18 Satan (Р-36М).

  • awesome video, thanks

  • it keeps the peace, becuase it is a deterant.

It keeps peace in a way so the user wont get attacked else it gets used, and dont think the attacker wants that, so instead keep the peace

  • @Fercurix the way it is termed is "Powerful deterrence through the threat of massive retaliation".

  • That's sweet, i love how they put them in orbit,

    Bye Bye Iran!!!

    lol jk

  • Because of the START II treaty, signed in 2001 by Bush and Yeltsin. START II banned the use of MIRVs on ICBMs. The Peacekeeper could carry 10 MIRVs, the Minuteman 3 MIRVs. Since all ICBMs now can only carry one reentry vehicle, the added expense and size of the Peacekeeper became useless. So now the US ICBM fleet is made entirely of Minuteman IIs with one warhead each.

  • *typo meant to say Minuteman III of course :)

  • not exactly, you see the US didn't sign START II, however, SORT made it so that missiles could not carry more than 3 warheads unless it was a retaliatory strike, the trident for example still carries 3, although it can carry up to 8, and the Minuteman III with RRWs can fit 3 warheads, they just use the old peacekeeper ones due to their lower cost compared to RRWs

  • That's what I get for trusting the wiki :P I had the wrong date and even the wrong Bush!.

It seems the US did sign START II, but it was bypassed by SORT before any action was taken on START II.

    Thanks for the clarification.

  • so what are u saying... that a icbm with more then 1 warhead is illegal.... because russia still uses a version with multiple warheads

  • the LGM-118 Peacekeeper is more reliable and more accurate, but yes the ICBMs were decommissioned on September 19, 2005

  • i like the peace keeper better

  • please somebody let me know the song of this vid.

  • Damn you dont need 5 years of indtoductions!

  • Hahaha LMFAO!

  • brilliant - just get rid of first 118 secs and the music

  • no kidding, all the music in these video suck and ruin the video

  • Extreme pwnage.

  • content starts at 1:49

  • get rid of the first 118 seconds

  • yeah why would you put that shit on a youtube video. this isn't the movies. fucking annoying

  • ya man, 118 seconds of life gone down the shitpan.

  • The intro is dumb long.

  • cool vid

the minute man III aint even new tech either, no telling what they have now they don't tell you about.

  • It cut land bassed ICBMs down to 1 warhead, and from 6 down to 3 for SLBMS

  • this is a kick ass video. I got on erection. xD

  • Good luck getting an erection after one of these lands on you.

  • what is the name of the song and who is the band ....it is driving me nuts

  • Good video. I could take or leave the music. Total silence would be boring but a voice narrator would've been cool.

  • What i readed MTHEL works only when there is few artillery shells etc incoming. What if there would be real bombarment? i dont think MTHEL would be any good in real war.

  • I heard by the time the missile returns to earth it dumps party confetti on everyone. That video was lame as hell. I hope the payload those ICBMs pack are a helluva lot more than what the cartoon depicted.

  • ss-18 is a lot better ICBM (10MIRV and 11000-15000 km)

  • very beautiful for one of the most evil things ever built

  • there's nothing evil about the magnificent launch system! it's a work of art :)

what you put on the end of it, on the other hand....

  • RV's do not reenter point-side down. Ablative forces are much less intense when opposing a flat sided surface. So the animation is a tad inaccurate.

  • Why are they shaped that way in the first place then? You sure that's not just for human re-entry capsules where you actually want to decellerate the payload?

  • Lepermunna is exactly right. RVs most certainly DO enter point-side down. This allows them to retain their velocity, and as such they are less easily intercepted and their accuracy is greater. But HardCase is also correct in that the RVs need an extremely robust ablative heat shield as a result.

  • ya know, its funny how one of the engineer's (Philip Kramer) went missing in 95. the same guy who was said to have discovered the mathematical formula that would allow matter to travel faster than the speed of light. the same guy who has ties with terrorists, the same extremist group who killed OJ Simpson's wife. And i'll bet a million bucks, that in a cave, somewhere in the middle east Kramer in being forced to make this bomb, and will probably hit the USA. oh ya where is Husein's WMD's???

  • omg d00d THERE WERE NONE

  • super cool gave me chill bumps! but don't the mm 3 have muilt- warheads?

  • The START Treat limits ICBMs to one warhead... but yes the mmIII has the capability to employ three warhead .

  • which is the max speed the missile can reach? or... which is the speed of missile when it reach the target?

  • Range: 6,000-plus miles (5,218 nautical miles)

Speed: Approximately 15,000 mph (Mach 23 or 24,000 kph) at burnout

    Ceiling: 700 miles (1,120 kilometers)

  • Comment removed

  • why is the intro so long?

  • three stars is the most I'm going to give this vid...there's absolutely NO EXCUSE for a video that's under 6 minutes long to have a 1 minute-20 second intro...learn how to make a video pismopier...

  • Am I right in saying that the warhead actually detonates above target and does not actually hit the ground?

  • There are two targeting options - Air burst (20,000 feet usually with a 5 mile diameter ground zero) and a Ground Burst which detonates near ground level and vaporizes a dome of 'ground zero' total destruction of from 600 to 1000 feet in diameter with vast blast and radiation damage in a straight line-of site outward.

  • depends. the warhead can be programmed for an airburst or an impact detonation.

  • What's the name of the original, AC/DC, song from this video?

  • Back in Black

  • Bummer about the audio change. AC/DC really fit the video well.

  • Apparently AC/DC was upset that I used their music without their approval, so YouTube gave me the option of yanking the original video, or substituting my original audio with a handful of choice. I chose Creed... I am working on replacing the video with some other rockin' tunes. Please check back. Thanks, PismoPIER

  • oh wow! I can't believe they actually picked that up... it's a shame because the last mix was awesome, I found another vid with the song and played it in the background while watching this one muted, worked a treat haha

    cheers for the vid!

  • + is it possible to get the old audio back?

  • woah.... did the music for this video just change overnight!?!

  • Ha ha. Nope. Just ask the poor guys who refurb the launch facilities at Vandenberg AFB after Minuteman launches...

  • they make a mess, do they? :D

    must totally trash the silo!

  • You might want to verify the source of your information, because it's incorrect. MMIII is most definitely a MIRV'd ICBM. Not the capacity of the PK, but it certainly has multiple RV's, despite what START II called for. MMI and MMII carried single warheads, however.

  • Go Malmstrom!!! I was stationed there btween aug 04-jan 08

  • Peacekeeper was cold launched from MMIII silos using a canister system to hold the whole system. There is a video on here of the Peacekeeper doing a cold launch. Pretty impressive for those big birds to get going that way.

  • You should see the Russian R-36 and its commercial variant

Dnepr being ejected from a silo. Amazing.

  • hippy

  • go hug a tree, because a tree will give you more human contact than any other human will give you.

  • o go suck a dick

  • No nuke at end :(

  • lol, thats what i was waiting for too :[

  • It's psychpathic. Pure Strangelove. A very peculiar video. It is like you are waving the bomb at the public and showing how entertaining you find it that you are showing us what you can do to us. He who controls the nuclear weapons controls life on the planet. We are on to you "Lockheed Martin".

  • nice vid , i hope you dont mind me asking but whattype of software you are using? i am using premiere pro 1.5 with after affects, i eventually want to get to this standard of aninmation, production but i think it will take me time to get to lwevel 3 and then on to a degree course lol! but what can u do but try

  • awesome!!!

  • We had "Launch On Warning." The holes would have been empty by the time the Soviet weapons hit.

Titan II, Minuteman, Peacekeeper were the backbone of the Triad. Subs were there to clean up and hold off a second strike.

  • Great video and great missile, despite its age.

  • Flyboy is a Faigle

  • true story

  • wow you guys are way to bored over in that office lol. nice additions to that animation vid btw.

  • Wow very nice! Thanks for the post!

Do you happen to know if there is more of this animation? I swear I have seen clips of that Minuteman animation but with a MIRV payload instead. Any help would be awesome.

    Thanks again!
