  • does any one know what dvd players play cd rom data cd's ..i know that phillips does but which other?

  • Wow you are a genius!!!!!!

  • This problem is easily solved on a much simpler way ...

Recommendation to the desk like a little problematic ...

  • How do you fix the part that spins the dvd?

  • @Beepers100 you smack the piss out of it till it spins it worked for me for a while then it dosent spin now :P

  • @1959CRL That's what I seriously felt like doing. lol

  • wtf dont talk to me about how the inside works when you clearly have special needs opening the case, then commence your repair on the outside of the machine.

  • What's up? I have the same dvd player that you are using in the video. I plug it in and I get the red light that tells me it's got power. But when I press the power button nothing happens. Can you make a video of how to fix this problem? Or tell me what the problem is?

  • Hi, I have a Phillips Dvd player. Its been working fine for a few months, until my dvds skips from the middle of the film or sometimes stops. The movie skips 15 to 20 minutes foreword. It mostly happens towards the end. And my cd drawer does not come out fully, say it remains a quarter of an inch inside.

  • do you have any idea why my dvd player buttons are not responding! i get the menu screen, but cannot do anything from there, same with the usb option!! neither through the remote controller or the player's buttons???

  • @Balikosify That one I'm going to have to think about and let you know. What brand and model is it? My best guess is that the card that holds the buttons also holds the IR receiver, and the connector to the main controller board is either loose or dirty. But that's just a quick guess.

  • @Balikosify

    First things first.

Unplug the player and leave it that way for a few moments. Plug it back in and see what happens.

  • Tut tut...a real geek would have a battery powered screwdriver :-D

  • @getmysatisfaction1 I have one, but as a currently-unemployed geek, it's too costly to buy batteries every few weeks. Besides, I prefer a real screwdriver for most applications.

  • this is the kinda guy should work at best buy for the geek squad still cool tho

  • @kamelamiller Should work for Geek Squad, yes. Would work for Geek Squad? Hell no, lol. Geek Squad is a rip-off, which is why tutorials like this exist. No one should have to pay money to have someone reinstall Windows for them, and they certainly shouldn't have to pay more than $50, but it happens every day.

  • @woodywood245 you have a very valid point before now if i need them i prably would have call n paid them thanks for ur totorial

  • @woodywood245 , right-on Woody, I agree completely. they have ripped me off a couple of times. Finally got fed-up. If it wasn't for guys like you and your tutorials, we all would still be going back to them. Thanks for your help bigguy, you the man.

  • Holy shit!!! Is this RJ Berger before he got his MTV show? jk :)

  • @DanDLyeIn3 Yeah, I don't know who that is.

  • @woodywood245 Well, maybe you can help me before I put a bullet in this 10 year old - new, still in the box - JVC piece of crapola that worked fine yesterday and is dead now. Now I put the movie in the player and it says no disk. The movie worked fine yesterday. I opened it up and the disk is loaded & spinning. It says reading on the front. (Although the player is working overtime on the reading part.) And the laser is working. It goes up and down, then the laser comes on. Its a JVC- XV-N412S

  • @HemiHead66 Have you tried cleaning the disk and lense? How about trying different disks or a CD?

  • @woodywood245 I ran a Q - tip over the lense for the hell of it - not a speck of dirt on it. The player is brand new - only out of the box for a day. And I tried putting one of my music CD's in there and it doesn't stop reading. With the DVD movie it'll read for about 30 seconds - stop - and say no disk. I don't get it because it played fine the night before. I fell asleep watching a movie. Then in the morning I hit play and it wouldn't work.

  • @woodywood245 Ya know, I have a digital multimeter, but I don't know how to use it for testing electronics. I don't even know if I can. And isn't there some kind of software that operates these things? Is there any way to reset them?

  • @HemiHead66 Since I have never used a multimeter before (I cannot afford one), I can only guess as to how to use one, and in engineering, guessing isn't a good thing. I can only suggest two things: read the manual, or do a Google search for "how to use a digital multimeter." Sorry I couldn't help you further.

  • He hasn't seen the sun in days, but with all the shit around I probably wouldn't want to either

  • @shot040 What's the Sun? :P

  • This is my problem

    1. DVD player turns on perfectly but when I hit menu nothing comes up and when I hit open nothing happens, It's just sit there with open display on the DVD

    player.

    2. My dvd is a Samsung DVD recorder, the model is R130

    3. I open it up, clean out the lens but still nothing.

Thanks, any help would be nice.

  • @eldersmit It sounds like a problem with the firmware, or the tray may be shot. I'll do a little research and let you know what I can think of.

  • Thank you @woodywood245 for taking the time.

  • friggin' geek!

  • @8ibonek9 Why, thank you! :)

  • hey got a question i have one works fine but make clickin noise when it reads disk but the movie does not play

  • @eviltrucks101 Try this: get it open, and while it's open try ejecting the tray and put a disk in. My hunch is the drive motor is shot, which means the disk won't spin. Try it and let me know if it spins or not.

  • Ugh. I've managed to repair 2 out of 3 players (which makes me feel good) but I am stuck with a Go Video DVD/VCR combo that doesn't spin. :( Could use some more advice on what to do to get it to cooperate... :-/

  • if you looked at the bottom of the disk player you would have noticed it dented in pushing the dvd mech up would of been better pushing out the dent no EXACTA KNIFE.

  • my dvd player rom wont detect dvd's o cd's, when i put in dvd for example it spins for a wile then it stops, but the dvd wont open on computer! my dvd is pretty new i dont think its broken or something..

  • This is a common but difficult problem to fix. First, when you open up My Computer, is the drive listed?

  • yes it is, and weird thing is (i only now noticed) that my computer wont open ONLY empty cd's/dvd's, it perfectly runs game/movie dvd's..

  • You said it's DVD-ROM? If it's DVD-ROM, it won't read blank disks because it's not designed to. You need a DVD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD-RAM for that. So just confirming, is it a DVD-ROM?

  • Hey..maybe you could tell me what's wrong with my sony dvd player and if can be fixed. It's not a very old model but not very new either I think like 5-6 yo. The door opens and closes just fine. The problem is when I put a dvd in it starts making these weird noises..like I can hear it spin but with some kind of weird noises and it does that for like 30 secs. After that it tells me that the dvd can not be read. It does it with cd's too. Pls help..and btw I think you're great. Ignore the haters.TY

  • Would you describe it as a grinding noise? Perhaps another loud, low-pitched noise?

  • Yes..just like you described it! But I opened it last night and the dvd wasn't spinning at all when I'd push play..just the noise like it was trying really hard and couldn't spin lol. Sounds funny. Anyway I went and bought another one last night cause I'm not very good at fixing electronics and really needed one. But still I liked my old dvd player better than this one. This new one that I got makes noises too..and it's new..not that bad though and it plays the dvd's. Tnx alot for the reply

  • Depending on whether the new DVD player is low-end or not, it could make a little noise. It's not something you should worry about unless you notice it getting louder, and in that case, I hope you got a warranty. As far as the old DVD player, it sounds like the spin motor was shot. There is no easy way to fix that, but if you're still interested, I'll pull out a dead CD drive I've got (essentially identical mechanism) and see if there is any way I can instruct you to fix it. Thanks for watching!

  • Hey I have a question for you. Saw your Video very helpful. I have a Polariod Dvd player got wet . I have power and also the red laser light comes on but no spinning. Can I repair it. If I still have power on the board?

  • It sounds like the disk motor is shot. Does the thing still eject and go in like normal?

  • Thks for responding back. Its a Portable Dvd Player PDX-0073c. Its looks pretty simple to fix. If I can find the part for it..Any suggestions much appreciated...

  • Let me do a little research and get back to you. Does the tray still eject like normal?

  • Its a portable. It has a push in button and it pops open in front. But its not spinning only the laser light comes on. Question I just found out by polariod this particular model is discontinue. Would it be harder to repair now?

  • lmao hes the definition of geek XD

  • You really are a fucking GEEK

  • My dvd player doesnt turn ON , it just doesnt work, can u help me please? I dont have money to get a new one...

  • now to take my dvd player apart *ZAP* son of a bitch
