You should have failed this report because of that background music being too loud. It's not that the project was about being really good at video editing or anything like that but the general rule is if you are going to use video for a report, you can't drown out the content with music so it can't be heard.
I mean I can strain to hear it but it's really tiring and I miss words and names here and there.
Also you have commercials with their own soundtrack on top of the music alreayd playing.
haha.. sorry.. 12 yr old here.. peace :D thanks for the informative vid anyway ^_^.. didnt mind the music.. but i guess twill be better without it.. or maybe another with a slower tempo
like to point out one mistake that i notied the first gui was not apple it was Xerox with both apple and miscrsoft stole there idea from The GUI was first developed at Xerox PARC by Alan Kay, Larry Tesler, Dan Ingalls and a number of other researchers.
Is the music more important than the history of the pc? It is a bit like the overall irritating music you always hear in shopping malls etc. It does really not ad a bit to the information!
awesome, extremely insightful, and very, very useful! and despite what everybody seems to be saying, I think the song choice is absolutely perfect for this video. good job!
Typical mistake of first time doc heads, music too loud: remember - there's a big difference between simply remembering what you already said ( and adding music to it ) - which is what happens when you listen to something you've recorded: and having to hear what somebody else is saying for the first time.
ditto on the background music. i tried to forward it to see if the music would end, i couldn't get any information on it because of the music. sorry, dude.
Sorry, I couldn't watch more than 2 minutes; note to potential video posters: ditch the intrusive backing music, a good documentary doesn't need to made like a music video. That's what's wrong with all factual TV programmes today.
Just so you know, the IBM PC was *far* from the first computer that small businesses and home users could afford. Machines from Commodore, Radio Shack, Apple and others all pre-dated the IBM PC.
FACTOID! IBM was founde inthe 1800s and was clled the tabulating mashine compony and they made mashines thet used punch cards to coculat for the census
also Xerox invented the GUI based on a hyperlink program controlled by a mouse developed in the late 60s. steve jobs was just a techno pimp along with bill gates.
a few errors: The IBM PC was for bussness use, it was designed to be used at work, however the PC lead to the PCjr which was for home use, but did not take off like intended (my family had a PCjr.) apple was not the first to create a Graphical User Interface (GUI) but it was xerox, apple made it popular, then Microsoft took that idea. i do not have exact stats but i would say way more then 55% have computers in their homes at least 75%
the apple one should have a mention in this video. apple computers should big businesses like ibm that personals computers would be the next milestone in technology. everyone thought it was ridiculous that everyday people would want computers in there home and now here we are were it could be considered crazy not having a personal computer
Why the HELL must every freaking documentary these days have loud, thumping music pulsating all the way through it? This is why I stopped watching the Discovery Channel, too. I think it's because kids these days have such short attention spans they need to sugar everything up with tedious youth music. Totally spoiled it for me. Redo it and take the music out, do everyone a favor.
Boring pictures? If you find pictures of vintage computers boring then perhaps the subject of computer history isn't for you. My point is that some interesting, insightful and informative narration would have been better than thumping music because after all, the purpose of a documentary is to inform. Are we so dumbed down now that all we can do is look at pictures and listen to music?
Look, dumbass!, just because you don't like the music doesn't mean we should all see it that way. Take your little Nazi Scum to a store and gripe over there if the movie of your choosing doesn't meet your satisfaction. OMG this is YOU TUBE and it's a free service! You're a dick!!!
Wow...Nazi scum? LOL - someone didn't get his Corn Pops this morning! And since when were movies on You Tube immune from criticism? A little touchy aren't we! Wassmatta kid...did someone steal your Bob the Builder DVD?
A wonderful video, DigitalPulseSynd. This video, is not only informative, but the visuals match very well. The music, contrary to what others say, is in my opinion suiting the theme and a very appropriate and catchy space filler. You should have (if you didn't) get a A on the project for APUSH.
oh my god! i wached this on my PC!!!

The music towards the second half of the video is far too loud and makes it difficult to understand. Come on, I'm trying to do work on this.

In hindsight I realize that the music was not the best selection, however, without it the movie was rather bare and uneventful, just a filler.
