MGS4 is easily one of the greatest games ever made. Over three playthroughs and it still doesn't get old. And Metal Gear Online actually requires skill unlike multiplayer games like Call of Duty.

the thing i love about this game is that there are no restrictions, 1st play through i did alot of running and gunning just to get through the game, and it was amazing, then second playthrough i went through killing no one and having as few alert phases as possible!!

both times felt totally fresh and were so fun and the whole game is just so perfect!!

i disagree, i felt like this game really wanted me to just charge in with an automatic rifle in most sequences.

sometimes when your in a barrel and an enemy checks it, you can run from under it as he lifts it an the enemy doesnt even see you lol

To be honist I love both mgs4 and mgo. When I got my router and got connected to psn, I first started playing mgo.

Overall I love it but sometimes it becomes a bad addiction. (hey its my first online shooter)

he's is exactly right a couple of my friends have metal gear solid and a lot of them are too naive to understand just how gud the story line is... others are fixed on the idea that COD and GEARS OF WAR are better and so do not take the time to get any good at metal gear solid 4 aswell as online

I give Metal Gear Solid 4 the story mode a 10/10 without a doubt. But for the online version I give it a 6 or 7/10. I know alot of fan gayism is gonna give me negative points but WHO CARES! its my opinion. I have alot of reasons to give the online the score it deserves but its gonna be long so I'll just leave it at that. Killzone 2 and Battlefield Bad Company shows much more promise as an online game

it's pretty cool. it's a little slow and could be better, but i enjoy it a lot. i recommend getting the MEME and GENE expansion packs if you get the game.

and besides, the singleplayer has enough replay ability in itself already.

either way, i think mgs4 deserved GotY a lot more than Halo 3; heck, even gears of war 2 should've been considered more than halo and i'm not a gear's fan. i just can't stand how halo's reputation is what gives it ratings instead of sheer gameplay and games like cod4 beat it out of the water. seriously, halo 3's campaign was completely lame, you might as well skip it unless you play it on legendary and do co-op. the online is the only good thing about it and games like cod4 are still better.

mgs4 deserves game of the year. there are so little games these days that actually focus on the cinematic aspect to gaming and have actual good gameplay. halo for example has a pretty decent story at best, a lame singe player campaign, but killer online. as revered as halo is, i don't think games that rehash your typical FPS should be awarded game of the year unless it does something ground breaking and awesome. mgs4 is literally an experience that exceeds any other game; even movies!

well i dunno from my opinion mgs4 doesnt really deserve game of the year even halo 3 doesnt deserve it, im actually watching the game than actually playing it if u compare the gameplay w/o the cutscenes its like a total of 2-4 hours of gameplay and like 16 hours of cutscenes so im like watching a whole season of heroes season 1, i would of prefered more gameplay and cutscenes more balanced, but mgs4 is a great game but in my words its either gears of war 2 or mgs4 that deserves game of the year

true that the game is heavily occupied with the cinematic aspect of the game, but that's how the game separates itself from other games; the narrative behind the game is what's astonishing about it. i can't think of any other game that has 45 minute cut scenes and that a lone is a sort of 'innovation' when it comes to story telling, and the gameplay that is in MGS4 is completely awesome and only further supplements it. a good thing about mgs4 is that is has replayability and can skip scenes.
