You are correct though about the stick handling. Demonstrating skills alone with the puck is certainly not an indicator of how well a person plays during the intensity of an NHL game. I would argue that Kovalev demonstrates the same high level of talent in game situations as the many videos on Youtube will attest. To take this video for anything more than it is, which is to say a glimpse of an incredible talent having a bit of fun at practice is unfortunate.

Sad to say that leafs season ticket holders are a pathetically corporate lot (no offense to whoever took this video). There's no real appreciation or dedication to the game or the team. Most would rather chat up their clients in their fancy boxes and talk business all game.

Any habs open practice would be packed no matter what and loyal fans even flock out to Brossard to see pre-season practices whenever it's allowed.

You make a point about a large number of the "fans" that make up the platinum section at the ACC... There's a reason those seats remain empty a few minutes into each period. The business types that sit in that section would much rather eat sushi and play with their Blackberries than enjoy the game. Our seats are in the reds however and there are always very passionate fans in the arena, especially as you move farther away from the platinums..

The Habs practice was part of an event held during the season that any season ticket holder could attend. It included a talk with the coach, meeting some of the players, and being able to watch both the Leafs and Habs practice.
