  • Loved the video. Buster looks, and acts much like my shorthair, Deuce. How was he with the Frisbee?

  • @cashstore1 Oh, he preferred the Kong, I think, but probably because that's what we mainly used. My present GSP male will chase and catch about anything you throw! :) They are true athletes. Thanks for your comment.

  • @busteremmyoscar Deuce loves his Kong too.

  • just found your video. i have an 11yr old gsp.he is my first thru marriage and then we had 3 all t gether.. they r like potatoe chips...u cant have just one! or so i am told. i am sorry for your sddness. we lost out middle "child" homer in aug this last yr. .. of unknown causes to make it worse. he was 7ys.but we are blesssed to still l have his son who will b 6 this may..time passses but you will always hold them in your heart. great pix

  • beautiful memory sorry for your loss. i have a 2 year old gsp he simply the best

  • @anime360101 Thank you. They are totally amazing creatures...wonderful companions.

  • Where are you guys from? Because my Gsp, George, looks just like yours and he was about that age too in 2005...

  • @quinkish Buster was from Staffordshire, England.

  • @rspurdue

So was George!! I have a sneaky suspision they could be from the same litter!

  • @quinkish P.s i never actually said it but Buster is gorgeous!

  • @quinkish Thanks...he was (and still is, to me)!

  • @cleaveb23 Thanks for your kind comments. I agree they are a very special breed...very noble and intense, but with great playfulness, too! Hope you get another GSP soon. :)

  • @rspurdue Ok. I dunno if it's really ideal for an inexperienced, nervous first time dog owner! They aren't too much hassle are they? They do look gorgeous and I need something to give me exercise. I've always wanted a dog that would sprint like a madman.

anyway lots of things need to get sorted out before I can think about it, the current home isn't ideal. my parents are sadly a bit cranky as they get older i dont know if getting a dog would help them chill out, or would make them kick me out!

  • @Schlockenspiel Good that you are careful about it - it's a forever commitment. No-one will ever see one of my dogs in a shelter, unless I am dead and buried, and they tear up my last will and testament. Too many loving dogs die alone in filthy shelters with a shot in the leg, or gassing, or worse. When I take on a dog, I commit to it no matter what.

  • the two best pics are together. 2:07 and 2:09

but my favourite is the first one of those two. hehe. got to love that tongue, just too adorable.

ive never had a dog ... I'm really not sure how I could cope with a dog dying pretty young like that. but still, i want to get a dog, one day.

  • @Schlockenspiel Thanks for commenting. He was worn out from a long run in muddy woods, and that muddy tongue pic is one of my favorites, too! Yes, the pain of losing a dog is extremely hard to bear, but while they are with us, they are the most amazing companions, and bring infinitely more joy than heartache. I encourage you to adopt one on if you are prepared to make it a permanent "no-matter-what" commitment, and if you have the space and the energy, a rescued pointer = a perfect companion.

  • Im so sorry You lost your doggie.... I lost my 2 boxers.. But now i have a GSP too..

  • @FreyKaz Losing them is terribly painful, but adopting another into a loving family is the best way I know of respecting their memory...I hate that so many wonderful dogs are put to sleep in 'shelters,' while people like us try everything to keep our pets alive and well. I had Buster from a puppy, but now we only take on rescues...it really does save beautiful lives. Good luck with your GSP, I'm sure you will find him/her adorable!

  • we just lost our gps. i feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest. i feel your pain.

    thanks for sharing....

  • @thelifeofhollerrats ...So sorry to hear that - I feel your pain too. GSPs are special. We hold the memory of our dogs when they pass on, but the pain eases in time. We got Emmy, a GSP rescue, 3 days after Buster died...Emmy eased our pain, because we had to focus on HER then. She's still with us (9 yrs, a real joy), & we have a GSP male (6 yrs), and a great little mutt (3 yrs) who was due to be PTS when we found her at a shelter...they're all amazing dogs, but so many need rescuing nowadays :(

  • A GSP owner once said to me when you have owend a GSP you wont have any other type of dog,He,s right.

  • u have gsp look at my channel (account) and there videos of him and urs is cute name of mine is Rover.

  • beautifull dog , i just saved one similar young dog from a car accident a month ago!

he looks so much like him!

i have him at home and we are gettinng along great.

Do you have any tips i should follow from your experience with this breed?

regards and sorry for your loss!

    PG

  • @philippgor

Thanks, and well done for saving your dog! Tips - plenty of couch time and cuddles (not hard, as you already know these dogs are beautiful creatures), high quality dried food without corn, soy, etc., no human food scraps (may develop life-threatening pancreas problems otherwise), and as much exercise or running freedom as you can manage...these dogs love to be active during the day. I know you will have the very best dog anyone could wish for! Best wishes to you both :)

  • @busteremmyoscar So true and great advice. Thanks! Even us humans should stay off corn, wheat and soy.

  • PALM GLADES SHORTHAIRS - BREEDING THE VERSATILE GSP SINCE 1972.

  • He was just beautiful. I love the bred so much.

Its amazing how much each dog has in common, like sleeping on their back.

Sorry for your lose...but im sure the new couple will bring you much joy, laughs and good times.

  • @korf78 They have helped us tremendously. Now we have three dogs - we were fostering an older dog named Bobo, who we had decided to adopt, when he died very suddenly...we were with him until the very end. The next day we felt a need to save our present rescue, Tilly, who was due to be put to sleep - she has fitted in here perfectly. Now we only adopt shelter dogs - there are far too many being killed.

  • Very sad! I have a GSP named Buster. Lost his dad to a brain tumer in Jan 09. It's was very difficult for both of us! It's even too hard to watch this video.

  • My Bffs Pointer Just Died too!:( His Name Was Levi:) I Miss him soo much:( ! What song is that playing?

  • So sorry to hear of your friend's loss...these dogs have beautiful souls and are amazing athletes, too, but are great lapdogs if you allow it! LOL. The song is called 'S fhada leam an Oidche Ghemraidh - a traditional Gaelic song played here by Dougie MacLean on his album RIOF. Thanks for watching and commenting. Kind regards.

  • take a look at our clip of our boys ..!!

  • So sorry about your loss.We have two gsp's best breed ive ever had .Buster was a beautiful looking boy.! make sure to get another someday

  • Thanks korf78. Buster died in June of 2005. Three days later we picked up a female pointer (Emmy) from Ohio GSP Rescue (she was to have been Buster's companion, and we didn't want to let her down when he suddenly died). It helped me over the loss a lot at the time. Then in July my wife bought me a male GSP puppy (Oscar) who looks very like Buster, but of course is very much his own dog! GSP's are phenomenal dogs. We also foster rescue dogs now. Thanks again.

  • Lovely dog, great photos. Sorry for your loss.

  • Thanks, Dan.

  • Found your tribute when looking at google satellite of Burton Dassett hills....... as that's where I took my dogs!

I know he's long gone but what a lovely fellow he was,

nice montage, very poignant. Get another one!

    Kind regards,

    Sheko.

  • Thanks Shekobeach...we did! We now have 2 pointers (1 a rescue) and another foster dog from the animal shelter...you can never have enough dogs, can you? LOL

  • That's good news! We're down from 4 now to 3 and soon probably only 2 but I do agree "excess is never enough" with dogs.

    Cheers,

    Sheko.

  • So sorry about your loss. Very nice tribute to Buster. He was a fine looking dog. I currently have a GSP, so I know about that special bond you all shared.

  • Thanks gspnme...they are amazing dogs. Best wishes for you and yours :o)

  • Beautiful. I love the image at 3.02.

  • Thank you austenpal :o)
