Great Review.. i was thinkin about getting it but the probs you say if has made me change my mind lol.. im used to using my Ipod Touch where you just barely touch the letter on the keyboard and it registers and i dont like having to basically push down on a touchscreen phone for it to register.. This isn't a review. This is more like a video criticizing the phone. I dont have any problem with my phone. Oh and you dont need to do the whole double touch on the phone. You can just put your finger over what you want and click at the same time. and most likely the reason this dude is having a problem with his phone flipping back is because hes used it so much its starting to lag. What he needs to do is take the battery out and put it back in and let it boot back up.
Most of the reasons for those bugs is multitasking. Most of the time people don't realize that they still have multiple apps running in the background. Admittedly that's one thing they could improve on.
the responsiveness has been greatly improved and flow much better, however, you could wait and see when the blackberry storm 2 is going to be available, and i heard from a friend that works at blackberry that they may be releasing it as early as this month, which would be helpful as my contract runs out on the 24th.
So if i were u i would wait a little for the announcement of the storm 2 but i am now very happy with my current storm on the latest firmware. Now there seems to be no lag.
ohh nice, okay. luck you , you could get the storm 2 as soon as it comes out. the contracts will probably be 35 a month if you want blackberry services though :(. i'll wait and see, thanks for the help.

good review but i have to say that i firmly disagree with a few of the key cons that he stated. with the new software updates haveing been reliesed the phone operates ALOT faster. the typeing has been good for me, i was previousily useing an ENV 2 and the switch to the storm was very easy and i still can type rather fast.

umm i got my storm last month and i haven't had any problems with it. the typing is actually fast on mine and when i turn it the screen responds immediately.
yeah all of these reviews are from when the phone came out (or a couple months after) and there were still a few bugs but once you get the firmwear update its fine

I strongly recommend the curve. I have an iPhone and a Blackberry Bold, but before I swithed to AT&T, I had a curve and really liked it. Great size, easy to use and doesn't lag or have bugs like the Storm.

I agree...he is very cute. I have had the Storm for almost a month now and I really like it. There were a few quirks at first but they didn't really bother me because I remembered the iPhone and iPod Touch had a bunch of problems when they came out. I haven't had many problems with the SureType or full Qwerty once I got used to them and I actually prefer it over my old Curve and the Bold. Another plus about this phone is Verizon's outstanding network and customer support. I am impressed.

Ok I have had the Storm for a week and it is the biggest piece of crap that I have ever owned. I have been a bberry user for over 7 years. I have also owned a Q and several other devices. This thing is a pig. Had a Pearl so I understand suretype. One thing never mentioned, if you live in a Northern climate and your hands get cold, the touch screen wont work. I have an old Nokia from 15 years ago that was a better device. I am selling my RIM stock.

I've got a bold, a storm and an iphone (blackberries for work, iphone is personal). The iphone is by far the most enjoyable device to use. The Bold is very functional and good purely for work. The storm is chuggy, fairly useless and doesn't have wifi, It's going back :)

The phone does have some bugs and lagging issues, but the capabilities and fun in using device over weighs the bad. Imagine new software. There are random crashes but many, The iphone initially crashed a lot. That was one of its main problems. crashing!
from the day i had my storm i watched youtube videos right from the browser plus you can download your youtube application on the internet like you can with any other blackberry software. Even the pearl that i upgraded from played youtube videos. they didnt have the app for that one but it played in its media player like the storm does.

even jobs himself called the iphone a game phone. Black berrys are about business first and multimedia second. Now that the audio player rocks on the storm and the video player is great, its a great platform.
The iphone is great for my grandmother.
The storm is great for my whole IT Department and whole work staf, 200 strong.
Ask an systems administrator to get iphones for its entire staff and watch him laugh!
And I love mine, it doesn't suck. I can type very quickly in suretype mode. I find that the OS is fast enough, yet can lag, but RIM has shown that they are committed to getting the firmware right. Removing VZ Navigator and Visual Voicemail speed up the device a ton. I recommend the Storm, its definitely the best phone on the Verizon line.
First it was the Verizon Voyager, than the Diamond, than the Instinct, than the G1, than the Storm. All said to be the iPhone killer. Now it's the Nokia phone N97. Do anyone see a trend???

the storm does have problem rotating. it would be great if the audio kept up with the video. but i think everyone has told you that. still amazing videos.

This thing is a pig. Had a Pearl so I understand suretype. One thing never mentioned, if you live in a Northern climate and your hands get cold, the touch screen wont work. I have an old Nokia from 15 years ago that was a better device. I am selling my RIM stock.

well i am a sorta big txter and enjoy taking pictures i go to alot of conerts and extremesprts shows anyways i need a device whos browser is good, that wont break if i drop it has a great camera, wont bore me or piss me off after the first week or so can do myspace and facebook and has a good screen hope that all makes sense let me know if that helps narrow it down

I've got a bold, a storm and an iphone (blackberries for work, iphone is personal). The iphone is by far the most enjoyable device to use. The Bold is very functional and good purely for work. The storm is chuggy, fairly useless and doesn't have wifi, It's going back :)

I think its more of a matter of the way it was uploaded and that something happened while YouTube was "processing" it.
This problem has happened to me before and the video when on the computer is perfectly fine until it is uploaded.

The phone does have some bugs and lagging issues, but the capabilities and fun in using device over weighs the bad. Imagine new software. There are random crashes but many, The iphone initially crashed a lot. That was one of its main problems. crashing!

from the day i had my storm i watched youtube videos right from the browser plus you can download your youtube application on the internet like you can with any other blackberry software. Even the pearl that i upgraded from played youtube videos. they didnt have the app for that one but it played in its media player like the storm does.

both are excellent phones, and both have their own issues...but by no means does the storm suck. In my opinion, the iPhone sucked during the whole 2.0 to 2.1 process and its now finally starting to regain some its stability from the 1.1.X erra

even jobs himself called the iphone a game phone. Black berrys are about business first and multimedia second. Now that the audio player rocks on the storm and the video player is great, its a great platform.
The iphone is great for my grandmother.
The storm is great for my whole IT Department and whole work staf, 200 strong.
Ask an systems administrator to get iphones for its entire staff and watch him laugh!
Iphones are great for some.
Blackberries are great for others.
Done.

And I love mine, it doesn't suck. I can type very quickly in suretype mode. I find that the OS is fast enough, yet can lag, but RIM has shown that they are committed to getting the firmware right. Removing VZ Navigator and Visual Voicemail speed up the device a ton. I recommend the Storm, its definitely the best phone on the Verizon line.
