Yep Faegan's still has flip night, it get's rowdy every Wednesday night, and that wasn't the year that Boeheim defended G-Mac that was 2006 at the Big East tournament, but that year the 'cuse went out of the tourney in the first round when we got beaten by Texas Tech
Just imagine how good that Cuse team would have been if Melo stayed more than one year. Warrick as a senior and Pace, Melo and G-Mac as juniors would have ravaged the tournament. This was one of the most impressive tournament runs, taking a 2 seed and three 1 seeds to win a title is impressive
I'm a Temple alum but have been going to the Dome for games since the Lawrence Moten/John Wallace days. I'll never forget going crazy on City Ave. in Philly when the 'Cuse won. I saw Syracuse in the final home game against Rutgers that year. I played against Gmac when he was about 14 at the CYC in Scranton. Now Temple needs to finally get over the hump!!! We're back in the Top 25!!

carmelo is by far the best freshman to play college basketball. No one came into the NCAA with the complete skill set that he had. To top it off he led the team to its first NCAA title. He set the standard for all hyped freshmen coming into college ball. Melo definitely would've been the #1 pick in the 04 draft
Yes, since the NCAA began using a tournament to determine a champion. The last time SU was champ was in 1926 (!), when they did it by consensus rather than a tournament. First men's tournament was in 1939 (Oregon won the whole enchilada--impress your friends with that bit of trivia!).

ok, sure, he made 4 threes ina game lots of times, but never did he make 6 in a half, except one time. once ever for something to happen is lucky. and as for ku 18 point comeback, that is where our premeire coaching and talent came in. as soon as gmac came back to earth, ku beat syracuse the rest of the game. ku chipped away at an 18 point lead, and they did it with no free throw shooting, and no 3 point shooting. luck, perhaps, but the luck was syracuses side, ku didnt finish the comeback off.
I'm not wanting to start anything here, but I think Kansas really deserved that game, one of the problems is, Coach Williams let them die out there, just like he did with UNC in the Final Four of 2008.
actually, i did congratulate the other team on their victory. and 6-7 threes, i dont care how great gmac was, he never did that again, and nobody else ever did it in a title game. so that is luck, what else is it? the fact that he had the best half of his career in that game was luck. think of all the games he played and the only time he did what he did was in that game. one of 100+ is lucky.
syracuse didnt dominate much of the game, they got up big early, and barely managed to hold on. ku actually won most of the game, if you look it at closely. ku played comeback most of the game, but because they were down in points, does not mean they were being dominated. as soon as it hit 18 points, ku was winning the rest of the way, syracuse 18 point lead was quickly gained, and slowly lost. ku won the majority of the game. all gmac had to do was miss one 3 point shot, and syracuse loses.
Oh please KU lost the game. Get over it. I'm not even sure they ever led in the game. Maybe if they hit their free throws it would be a different story. But they choked. End of story. Syracuse was the better team and won the national title to prove it.

Gerry McNamara (Syracuse, #3) had six three-pointers in the first half and did not score the rest of the game. He injured his hand on the scoring table. Kansas would've been blown out if Gerry had been at full strength; getting within 3 points was a blessing.
he made 6 of 7 threes and you think he would have done better than that if he was at full strength? horse crap dude. he was a great 3 point shooter, but even he was lucky to hit like he did that night. hence the fact that it was and still is a title game record for a half.

you don't think an 18 point comeback has some luck to do with it? you talk and talk about all this luck Syracuse had on their side... everyone gets lucky.. but Syracuse dominated the majority of the game and as a young team, gave up a comeback, but held on.

ok, sure, he made 4 threes ina game lots of times, but never did he make 6 in a half, except one time. once ever for something to happen is lucky. and as for ku 18 point comeback, that is where our premeire coaching and talent came in. as soon as gmac came back to earth, ku beat syracuse the rest of the game. ku chipped away at an 18 point lead, and they did it with no free throw shooting, and no 3 point shooting. luck, perhaps, but the luck was syracuses side, ku didnt finish the comeback off.

I'm not wanting to start anything here, but I think Kansas really deserved that game, one of the problems is, Coach Williams let them die out there, just like he did with UNC in the Final Four of 2008.

Congratulate the other team on a great, great game played. We were the better team and we had the best player in the country playing for us.
GMac went on to be one of the best three point shooters of all time in 'Cuse history, so to say his threes were luck is just pure ignorance.
A 50 footer at the buzzer is luck... not a team dominating another team for an entire game, and leading by as many as 18.

actually, i did congratulate the other team on their victory. and 6-7 threes, i dont care how great gmac was, he never did that again, and nobody else ever did it in a title game. so that is luck, what else is it? the fact that he had the best half of his career in that game was luck. think of all the games he played and the only time he did what he did was in that game. one of 100+ is lucky.

so he blew up in the championship game, doesn't make it luck... luck is a buzzer beater or a crazy shot, not a great shooter knocking down threes...

syracuse didnt dominate much of the game, they got up big early, and barely managed to hold on. ku actually won most of the game, if you look it at closely. ku played comeback most of the game, but because they were down in points, does not mean they were being dominated. as soon as it hit 18 points, ku was winning the rest of the way, syracuse 18 point lead was quickly gained, and slowly lost. ku won the majority of the game. all gmac had to do was miss one 3 point shot, and syracuse loses.

Oh please KU lost the game. Get over it. I'm not even sure they ever led in the game. Maybe if they hit their free throws it would be a different story. But they choked. End of story. Syracuse was the better team and won the national title to prove it.

yeah, syracuse went up 18, and then when they came back down to earth, ku beat them the rest of the way, got it all the way back to 3 points. so to say ku didn't come to play is ignorant on your part. they played a good game, except they couldn't make their shots. despite syracuse gaudy 3 point shooting numbers, ku played good D, they had a hand in the face almost every time.

the teams they played before kansas were even more stressful than this game...they were down 17 points i believe against oklahoma state and came back...and the auburn game made me bite my nails as they won the game by one point...but what a great year for them. =]

Gerry McNamara (Syracuse, #3) had six three-pointers in the first half and did not score the rest of the game. He injured his hand on the scoring table. Kansas would've been blown out if Gerry had been at full strength; getting within 3 points was a blessing.
