Newton has less to do with what's going on here than Heisenberg does. This violates the first law of thermodynamics. Unless it can be shown that the magnetic flux used here has enough energy to translate into self-sustained inertial motion, this demonstration is fake. @ionglacier I'd say no... the water is evaporated by the Sun's energy, carried in clouds to the mountains where it rains and goes into the ground from where it streams downhill and down a waterfall to be evaporated again by the sun and carried back up the hill by the clouds... it's a cycle, but not perpetual motion, as it needs the sun to carry the water.

This is a awesome idea about magnetic catch and release. But the only problem with this video is that it basically shows "ONE" cylindrical magnet perpetually spinning a disk with magnets. And its amplifying. Its been tried for countless years. Plus notice how you can hear the mechanism speed up about 1 second before the two magnets are stopped. I am not saying that this idea is impossible, all i am saying for it to work you need precise manetic shielding in certain areas at exact times.

Ever try one of those gadgets where you turn a handle to generate electricity? If there is no light bulb connected to it, the handle turns very easy since you only need to overcome the friction. But as soon as you connect a light bulb, it becomes very hard to turn the handle. The energy is now leaving via electric current. The magnets in this video may be able to overcome the friction in the gears, but as soon as you hook up a large light bulb, this thing will quickly stop spinning.
Actually this thing should stop spinning regardless of wether there is a light buld connected to it or not. Magnets do not store energy. Fricction is the only factor. Provided that there is no trickery involved, the fact that it does not stop spinning will not be understood easily by science. It has got to be fake, it must be.
Magnetic fields are a source of potential (or stored) energy just the same way as gravitational fields are a source of potential energy. The spinning wheel does not necessarily involve any trickery. It just needs magnets strong enough to over come the friction in the gears. The trickery is in getting people to think that this is "free energy" when in reality it is not.
What makes you think the there is energy "stored" in magnets? (ie potential energy) Think of it as gravity. I order for an object to gain potential kinetic engery you must lift it, spending energy, then releasing it as you let go of the object. Magnets are the same. In order for a magnet to gain potential energy, you must first get it close to another magnet, thereby spending energy on it. No way can you get more energy out of a magnet then the amount you spent on it.
I probably am wrong about this but isn't a water turbine just water pushing a magnet or two inside a some copper wire because my science teacher had us make a machine that would generate some light bulbs and what me and my partner did was make a turbine out of magnets a nail, cardboard, and some copper wire and im sure you get the idea from that but wouldn't you just need to wrap copper wire around it to generate electricity? Well if Magnets extert a force then the magnets on the outter part exert a force on the magnets on the inner disc. This causes the disc to begin to rotate. As it begins to rotate the magnets on the disc exert repulsion on the outer magnets. Therefore forces are being exerted both ways over a distance. Therefore energy is being created.
I'm no physicist, but doesn't the law of conservation of energy state that energy cannot be created, only transformed. Since the electromagnetic field of a magnet is a force, rather than energy, isn't this basically creating energy out of nothing? Which, unless I've missed something, is impossible, right?

My analysis:
- Poor scene setup and illumination, edges are not visible.
- The positioning apparently is important, it takes 2 tries.
- Audio hum obscures giveaway noises.
- At 1:08 the audio hum increases, exactly at the time the device is started. Something is switched on off camera.
- the size of the device could allow batteries inside.
- The planar setup point to magnets under the table surface. The wide air gap make the magnetic coupling weak, that's why it's hard to get going.

It is my understanding that perpetual motion was originally outlawed by Newton's laws, but there are high-powered scientific lawyers working on this stumbling block to make perpetual motion a real possibility. Glad to see some people are doing the creative ground work on these machines in the mean time.

Why cant science be wrong?. Before newton there was a theory by someone, but newton came up with the best theory which has persisted until now. Well times change as do redundant ideas. These ideas have held humanity back and kept the banks rich. All machines are designed to consume not to produce. Energy is continuous as a stream of north and south pole magnets. Hang a piece of aluminium foil on a plastic coathanger, attach a multimeter, and you have energy 24/7. Newton was wrong!

now if this is real, what would be super awesome is if you recorded the speeds of ur initial spins to get the things started. As in, get multiple sensors, hook it up to ur computer, and record ur entire process. that way people will b able to see/understand the timing and intervals.. so others should hopefully be able replicate ur results...

This is a awesome idea about magnetic catch and release. But the only problem with this video is that it basically shows "ONE" cylindrical magnet perpetually spinning a disk with magnets. And its amplifying. Its been tried for countless years. Plus notice how you can hear the mechanism speed up about 1 second before the two magnets are stopped. I am not saying that this idea is impossible, all i am saying for it to work you need precise manetic shielding in certain areas at exact times.

Ever try one of those gadgets where you turn a handle to generate electricity? If there is no light bulb connected to it, the handle turns very easy since you only need to overcome the friction. But as soon as you connect a light bulb, it becomes very hard to turn the handle. The energy is now leaving via electric current. The magnets in this video may be able to overcome the friction in the gears, but as soon as you hook up a large light bulb, this thing will quickly stop spinning.

Actually this thing should stop spinning regardless of wether there is a light buld connected to it or not. Magnets do not store energy. Fricction is the only factor. Provided that there is no trickery involved, the fact that it does not stop spinning will not be understood easily by science. It has got to be fake, it must be.

Magnetic fields are a source of potential (or stored) energy just the same way as gravitational fields are a source of potential energy. The spinning wheel does not necessarily involve any trickery. It just needs magnets strong enough to over come the friction in the gears. The trickery is in getting people to think that this is "free energy" when in reality it is not.

What makes you think the there is energy "stored" in magnets? (ie potential energy) Think of it as gravity. I order for an object to gain potential kinetic engery you must lift it, spending energy, then releasing it as you let go of the object. Magnets are the same. In order for a magnet to gain potential energy, you must first get it close to another magnet, thereby spending energy on it. No way can you get more energy out of a magnet then the amount you spent on it.

I probably am wrong about this but isn't a water turbine just water pushing a magnet or two inside a some copper wire because my science teacher had us make a machine that would generate some light bulbs and what me and my partner did was make a turbine out of magnets a nail, cardboard, and some copper wire and im sure you get the idea from that but wouldn't you just need to wrap copper wire around it to generate electricity? Well if Magnets extert a force then the magnets on the outter part exert a force on the magnets on the inner disc. This causes the disc to begin to rotate. As it begins to rotate the magnets on the disc exert repulsion on the outer magnets. Therefore forces are being exerted both ways over a distance. Therefore energy is being created.

I'm no physicist, but doesn't the law of conservation of energy state that energy cannot be created, only transformed. Since the electromagnetic field of a magnet is a force, rather than energy, isn't this basically creating energy out of nothing? Which, unless I've missed something, is impossible, right?
