  • Was this lineup made for a record? or just for this session...

  • @vadesdecero record...and what a great record it was.

  • This is simply unbelievable. Listening to Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock play music together is a joy incomparable. Now add to this, the most yummy and masterful voice of Corinne Bailey Rae and we have a recipe that is of life itself. Nothing could have topped such an experience... then, and what song do these three choose to cover?!!! A most ferocious and beautiful composition by Joni!!! In a masterful Jazz setting!!! I must be dreaming ❤❤❤

  • marvelous!

  • so so so so f*&^king beautiful...

  • JEEKERS, If you like this one, please also watch this one, too. Please look to your right, and click on this one: Corrine Bailey Rae - Like a Star

  • Tal Wilkenfeid... one of my favourite bassists.

  • Sounds lke a young Minnie Riperton, wonderfully soothing music and Ms. Rae is always mellow.

  • there you go joni another living testament to your genius and contribution

  • 6 people have been fucked by a donkey while listen this song...

  • beautiful song!!!

  • slow moving on

  • Wayne Shorter.......Da Sh#%!!!!! awesome.

  • How cool is this sound, It is sexy yet so soothing. This is what is what I love most about jazz.

    Bez

  • Isn't there a guitar player?

  • Oooh! It's Jeff Beck's bassist! I always forget her name...

  • @gabo1604 Tal Wilkenfeld

  • Wow. That took my breath away. -- There's nothing like great musicians doing a great tune. Thank you!

  • Simply incredible. It was so good, it was moving. Herbie Hancock is a musical genius and corrine has a lovely voice. I loved this :). I would love to see Herbie do a collaboration with jamiroquai.

  • perfect, deep, beauty.

  • Never was a big fan of Corinne Bailey Rae until I saw her on PBS - Paul McCartney tribute. Now I can't get enough. AMAZING talent...always impressed by vocalists who use their voices as true instruments.

  • did he meet melody gardot in this same episode?

  • @TCt83067695 Yes, and it was amazing

  • Tal Wilkenfeld is EVERYWHERE; you go girl

  • Jeff Beck Rhythm Section, Herbie and Wayne, and Corinne on a soul/jazz tune. Perfect.

  • @dannybighair don't forget Vinnie Colaiuta ;)

  • Time to listen to this again, "It's comin on Christmas".

  • nice sound!

  • This is great! She is made for this style....Great combo

  • wow... amazing... she sings so beautiful

  • cool

  • I didn't realize Wayne Shorter. When I bought this particular cd it was spoken of Herbie Hancock and Corinne Bailey Rae. Thank you for pointing that out. This is my favorite selection of Corinne's work. Perhaps it was Herbie Hancock, Shorter, and Mitchell's song layed out in a different way. But it was so great. I don't need Christmas to listen to it. I hear it year round. What you both said makes complete sense. So classy--dead on!

  • Who is the young lady on the bass guitar? She is amazing!!!

  • @chiliwilly39

    Tal Wilkenfeld..she is amazing.

  • @carsonh yes indeed.. she's the freshest talent....

  • @carsonh no she is not. she is just a young girl playing the bass plus fucking one of the best drummers who has the best gigs...

  • @koenigvonoesterreich

    young; yes

not amazing; nope. she is quite good fella.

you do not like her and thats okay.

  • @koenigvonoesterreich do get back in your cave, you unpleasant little caveman you.

  • i almost cried

  • An amazing composition, you you both worked amazingly together, corrine you have come on bounds since my first view of you on jolland holland, seems like years. Herbie , well what can I say a pure geniune, and very special man in my life. Keep up the great work. xx

  • This is just absolutely beautiful.

  • this track...is so unbelievably beautiful i swear...

  • Corrine: Shades of Minnie Ripperton!

    Very soothing voice :)

And Herbie, Wayne and Tal are wonderful as well.

  • Bassist is on it.

  • This song does something extraordinary to me every time I hear it. I takes me some where.

  • Oh, my..

  • Somewhere I read a quote that says: "Music is what feelings sound like". After listening to this little piece of heavenly goodness, it just solidifies what that quote really means. Watching all these heavy weights performing their craft, it's pretty evident that they can truly express their feelings in such a way (and collectively) that other people listening can be moved by what they were able to express. It's tunes like this that make me happy to be a musician! Thanks for posting!

  • I'm not a huge fan of Herbie Hancock's playing itself, but this song's arrangement is perfect. His collaborations are amazing. He always has a great chemistry with other musicians.

  • Everything Abbey Road is dope. the litmus test for quality production in music

  • Awsome to the 100th degree!!!!!! Herbie's the BEST! Corinne is Fantastic! and the rest of em Jazz bands are a sight and sound to behold! APPLAUSE from WAHAB!~ IRAQ

  • This is a new version of a song by Joni Mitchell.

  • unadulterated bliss!

  • herbie, wayne shorter, and vinnie colaiuta. gotta love it

  • Every element of every part of this performance is pure perfection. I've watched and listened to this dozens of times and I know I'll listen to it and watch it forever, not only to thoroughly enjoy it but also to remind myself of what a perfect performance is in every way. She brings the story to such vivid life, and the backdrop that Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Vinnie Colaiuta provide is, like Corrine, simply stunning. This is true art that can't be explained and must be experienced.

  • @DrumTchr Completely agree. The musical atmosphere in this version is just phenomenal.

  • Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, Happy Birthday Herbie

  • Touching how she still has her wedding ring on.

  • Sublime....

  • what year guys?

  • wayne mother fucking shorter!

  • I LOVE this song and what an all star cast, but what I love best is Herbie's smile and nod at the very end...seems like it was powerful for him as well!

  • nice to see Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock side by side.

  • Love that girls voice...

  • Beautiful. Very interesting to see Hancock wearing ear plugs... they weren't playing very loud... unless the ear pieces allowed him to hear the other instruments better ?

  • Indeed, beautiful. Herbie is wearing custom fitted in-ear monitors while the other guys are wearing regular earphones -- same function. In a low volume situation they perform rather similarly. In high volume in-ears seal out any acoustic sound that would bleed in using regular earphones. In the end it's a personal preference thing.

  • who knows whos the guitar player?

  • @jazzmelodicminor77 The BASS guitar player is Tal Wilkinfeld. She and Vinnie Colaiuta, the drummer, are quite a team playing with all kinds of artists. Like Jeff Beck, check them out. Great stuff

  • @YsBigfoot yes i know bro i have alot of albums of both of them vinnie and tal and jeff as well yes wayne herbie too hahahaha i just dont know who the guitar player the just show him in a little moment hes playing a nylon string godim guitar i think its the guitarrist of corrine and yes i also have corine albums too hahaha!

  • hypnotizing

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • very mellow song

  • Maravilhoso.. Corine e Herby.. Ela atem um grande potencial..Sao Paulo/Brasil

  • Simply amazing.

  • perfect holiday song for a cat like me.

  • WOW.

  • I think Jazz would be a great element for her. Her voice is so well suited for it. She looks amazing in this video, in my opinion. So classy and cute too.

  • i agree

  • @SpeedOfDark186Kmps I think so, too. I just heard him with India Arie and he transformed her into a superb Jazz artist, also. Oh, "The Magic of Herbie Hancock". "Herbie the Great", just turned 70 the other day.

  • what a nice melange of excelent musicians

  • that's live ?? just great !

  • Superb!

  • Wow! That was beautifully done.

  • River:The Joni Letters. A Herbie Hancock project with diverse artists featured. The band includes Wayne Shorter, Lionel Loueke, Dave Holland, and Vinnie Colauta. Grammy-winning. Released in 2007. I love it. This tune is so well done. Corinned Bailey Rae's vocal is...wow!

  • Did they record more songs, where can i get a cd of this session? This is an ALL STAR line up!! Great version of a joni classic.

  • thats some cool ass shit!!!!!! AWESOME!!

  • thanks God we have such amazing artist to enjoy. the voice of Corinne Bailey in a song of Joni Mitchell fits so well.

  • i totally agree with you guys. this is amazing.

  • STUNNING, MEZMORIZING

  • Sublime!! Exquisito!

  • This song is wonderful i did't know about Corinne Bailey...

  • Thats the perfect example of the musical term "Organic"

  • I ♥ this song. It´s very calm.

    =)

  • She's so wonderful.. I love how she shows how much she enjoys singing everytime she performs. you can always see her moving like an angel..almost floating when she sings...

  • magnifique!!!!

  • What would you listen more to now...there's nothing better than this.

  • omg. this arrangement is so beautiful. Corinne Bailey Ray is truly amazing. No one could have done it better.

  • This is the best thing I've ever seen.

  • it's a damn great album! the best i've heard for years! turn up the volume and listen...

  • WOW! Great song. Also, WOW ... Tal Wilkenfeld! She is amazing! I also see Vinnie Colaiuta too! I'm not trying to take away from this stellar performance by the entire group here, but I'm excited to see Tal. She must be having the time of her life. Her gigs with Jeff Beck and her solo album and all her other stuff is amazing. I bought the Jeff Beck live DVD as much for her as for Jeff. Anyway, this video is amazing. I'll have to check out more stuff by Corinne.

  • this is so good, not sure if it meets my love for the KD Lang, mady peyroux version

    Leo Lobos

So I can burn it to a disc .

  • use realplayer - set to high quality and download - extract audio - recode to mp3 - done!

  • In addition to the amazing music everyone has commented on... her interpretation of Joni Mitchell's lyrics in that meloncolic mood is the best i have heard in ages

  • Wilkenfeld no baixo, afff, que suave

  • man! I love the way her accent mixes with her voice and the mood of the piece.

  • WAYNE!

  • HERBIE!

  • TAL

  • VINNIE!

  • CORRINE!

  • nobody's lovin Lionel?

  • " So this is what music sounds like in heaven... "

  • Well said.

  • Tal sounds really amazing, they are just the jam; Corinne has an accent but sounds really gorgeous, just like her looks.

  • i did not know that she was this good at singing.

    she's awesome :)

  • Remarkable..! Pure talent..!

  • Wow...amazing!

  • MMM entiendo esa cara.....es magico...Gracias por tanto amor

    Gracias Herbie

  • such a perfect girl to cover that song.

    i love it to death.

  • damn

check the chick out on the bass

    oh and corrrine too

  • I only can compare he beauty of this song with a classsic from 1982 called "Take me home" by Tom Waits & Crystal Gayle, if you can get it, listen it, you will not regret!

  • Wow... I don´t know what to say!! simple and beautiful, this is what I call a really beuty song, without pretentions, so smooth, what a voice !! what a feeling they both put on it... thank you for posting I was trying to find it . and i did´nt knew who was she an I found her!!

  • ...sigh...beautiful

  • I love this song is so peacefull=)

  • does anyone know the link for Herbie Hancock Feat John Mayer - Stitched up?

  • oh my.... just great! look at this feeling! this expression at 4:56 ...

  • I think Joni Mitchell would be really honoured by listening these great artists, Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae, not to forget the young Wilkenfeld.

Thanks for uploading this treasure of music:)

  • Wayne Shorter, Vinnie Colaiuta!

  • Sorry not have to mentioned them:)

Wonderful, music once again, I always return to listen.

  • This is the best that this mediocre Joni Mitchell song has ever sounded.

  • Anyone else find themselves wishing Corrine would pronounce the words fully? The song is called River, not Wiver.

  • Comment removed

  • nope

  • No:)

  • this is a group pre-ordained by God himself. I can't believe it!

  • Vinnie is the MAN! Really sets the feel on anything he plays. So versatile.

Much respect for this album, Herbie! 'Tis brilliant!

  • The bassist is Tal Wilkenfeld. She's rapidly becoming very famous, been playing with Clapton, Jeff Beck and so on. And she's mid-20s.

  • who is that 12 year old girl playing the bass? they show her for a split second at the beginning of the video and then never again.

  • Love hearing a drummer pull out the subleties of the drumset. Vinnie is a gift. They all perform beautifully though.

  • Is this a DVD excerpt?

  • she has such a child like quality to her voice. I love her

  • tal , vinnie and corinne, 3 of my favourite musicians :D

  • aint that the truth

  • Tal was a little out of her depth IMO. An upright and less rythmic patterns would be better for this song. After all the rythm is already elegantly laid out by Vinnie.

Having said that, I think Tal is a cutie and a really nice player. Mr Hancock and Mr. Shorter on the hand are something else. Tolerant and forgiving. True masters. Corinne is sublime. And Vinnie is just awsome.

  • incredible

  • Just Amazing!!!

  • this is so incredible beautiful !

  • shit didnt mean my last post to sound quite like that .maybe god accompanied by an angel sounds better lol. just pure heaven

  • wow god on earth playing with an angel .just beautifull

  • aw, herbie looks like he's going to cry. I mean who wouldn't... such a beautiful song.

  • this song is so good it gives me goosebumps. God bless Corinne Bailey Rae and Herbie Hancock. =)
