And yeah "modern" metal singers as you say vomit in the microphone, I agree. Personally, I think Chris Cornell and Layne Staley are way, way better singers that James and more versatile, although not strictly metal.

I love Metallica. I grew up on the stuff. Been listening to the band for 20 years and Hetfield is a great metal singer but check out for instance the video of Would played live by Alice in Chains with James as guest singer. It's pretty hard on your ears to say the least. He's good at doing his James thing, but he shouldn't try to sing and do the stuff he's been trying to do since the Black Album or just after, you know when he goes "yeaah - io-io-io"... Man that's just terrible.
