Performed Saturday, 10/21/89, following the "Quake of '89", 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, 10/17/89. 7.1 on the Richter scale, epicenter in the Hollister area. Neither rain, nor sleet, earthquake, nor gloom of night shall stay the Cal Band from the swift completion of its appointed rounds... Consecutive halftime Performance #5 of 9 this season.
IIRC, we were rehearsing the first section of "Hard Day's Night" when the quake hit. With all the repeated pivots, I thought I was just getting dizzy.
Later on, I remember a certain DM from the tower, something like: "We've heard that the Bay Bridge has collapsed. OK, back to the top, let's get a clean run-through." :)
Awesome show.

THE SEASON OF ONE-WEEK SHOWS! The IRON MAN of college marching band seasons.
If you look close, you can see the crack running down the field. ;-)
