  • How does this compare to the Minimoog Model D?

  • @thedcmule Sorry, i have no experience with that moog model D. but maybe someone else can help here on my channel. Any takers? I would also like to know. also try in the youtube search for that Moog Model D.

  • thanx to tony!5 stars from hamburg-germany

  • @blauwolfenduro Thanks Much!

  • i'm very new to keyboards, i just started playing it in my band recently. i have a microkorg but i've been watching a lot of videos on moogs n stuff and have begun saving up for one. one question though, are the little phattys monophonic too? or can you play chords on them? (i know the minimoog is strictly monophonic but i was just curious about that subject,) if someone can let me know, i'd appreciate it. thanks :)

  • It is a fully monophonic synth, so you can play just one note at the time. I hope you have a lot of money, because this beasty is expensive, but it is worth the money ;)

  • do i need software for this? a computer? i dont want a synth i have to run a computer to

  • @MinusGorgon you don't need any software. It's a real synth. It exists in the real world. You don't need a computer except to record.

  • you only need an amp or stereo set. this thing is amazing. you can input guitars and basses other keyboards. you could record into a mpc or direct line ins for m-box or another digital interface.

  • @MinusGorgon you dont need any computers for an analog synth. Digital synths you can program stuff which requires a computer but IMO analog ALWAYS sounds better. It's amazing how good analog synths sound in person without any sort of post processing. Even the cheapie Univox synth i have sounds full and fat.

  • great demo. I'll start saving to buy me one of those :-)

  • Thanks! you won't regret it!

  • i think i know the answer but can you mult-track record yourself on the LP ?

  • Why yes you can. Its tedious to multi-track. specially doing Musical cords. But fun, if you have the time to set-up.

  • The LP is awesome, and you are a great keyboardist! Nice playing, good sir!

  • Thanks A Bunch! Its a fun thing to play thats for sure.

  • I love the little narrations in between each rif. Great playing man!!!

  • Oh, just me being a little silly and havin' Fun. Thanks!

  • virtual vst synth plugins, etc. are all well and good, I own and use a whole bunch regularly for the convemience and control, they can sound amazing in thier own right...but, analog/hardware has that there magic one cannot deny. this little phat friend will be mine soon...

  • I never really experienced Vst Synth plug-ins. I always was a hardware Synth person. I hope you get your Moog Little Phatty Soon... You'll have real instant fun and creativity at your hands. Might have to wait for the baby to warm up a little. Thanks for posting a comment!

  • My pleasure, thank you for responding. Curious though, do you have to wait for it to "warm up" like a tube amp? As in it sounds different, flat, etc. when it is cold. I know this of analog devides in general, but what is your experience with the tone difference in temp changes/right off the boot?

  • It doesn't have tubes in it - it uses solid state analog circuits.

It is a good idea to let it warm up for a different reason - it may go out of tune otherwise.

  • Yeah man, I know it does not have tubes in it, I said "like a tube amp" because I am a guitarist and suffer from guitarist disease, making reference in those terms only to ask how often, how long, and the impact warm up/non warm up has on this particulat analog device....because I like it and also play a bit of keys.

  • i don't think i'll ever afford an actual hardware synth, but i've been looking at this one as it kind of took my fancy.

did you make those patches, or are they factory sets? either way, you're a great keys player, and even though i write tunes just fine by ear, i wish i had the dedication to learn keys as well as yourself so i could jam out - those arps are wild!

good sound though. thanks for the demo.

  • Thanks for the Kind Words. I was just having fun puting my first Moog demo out for youtube viewers. The Patches were all Factory presets and just added some filtering. Anway, Just keep writing your music and Just Have Some FUN. If you like ,check out my other videos or Just subcribe to my Youtube channel. Take Care

  • I'm quite the synth begginer, and I'm looking to get my first Moog. Price is somewhat of a problem, so I am considering the Little Phatty quite a bit. Although I would rather have the Voyager Old School, because I quite like the aspect of a completley analog interface, but for my needs the Little Phatty seems to be enough for me. Any suggestions? Great demo by the way.

  • Hey thanks for watching. If you're a synth beginner, then I think that you would do great with the Moog little phatty. Its easy to program and it comes with amazing presets patches.(Moog factory Sounds) A little education and practice go hand in hand.

  • Thanks a lot dude.

  • This is a really awesome synth. Cool video, 5 stars.

  • Thanks Much!

  • Worth every penny, I say! I absolutely love mine. I will say I've got the Moog bug pretty bad. I also have the $275 MF-102, the Phaser, which goes for a cool $289, and the $300+ CP-251. I actually didn't pay attention to the price of the 251, I wanted it so badly.

  • I found out that you also had your Little Phatty tricked out.(Customized)I found your post on moog forum. I want to get a voyager someday. Anyway, Have fun! and send me a video of you playing your new updated Moog Little phatty.

  • Thanks for the nice reply! I'm looking at the Old School myself! When I post the video, you'll be the first to know! Cheers! And yes, I'm a regular on Moog Forum, so you'll always have the most up-to-date info on my Moog-related activities.^_^

  • Do you have any 'finished' tracks (recorded using the phatty or anything else) anywhere on youtube?

(I have nothing bad to say about the wiz really, he even helped me out when I asked him for some advice on synthesizers)

  • Yes. Not really finished songs but more demos of me improvising with my fantom S-61 and the moog little phatty using leads and the roland fantom with drum and piano. I'll be adding more demos of my moog and Roland soon.

Yes, Wiz does know is synths. he also helped me with my videos to make then sound and look better.

    Take care!

  • I can't believe I'm saying this because it sounds so corny - but you've actually restored my faith in the Moog Little Phatty (believe it or not, after the keyboard wizard made it look so lame - sorry wiz!) the patches you are using all sound brilliant! Excellent work - I'm now going to check if you've made any more Moog LP videos, thanks

  • well, whats nice about the moog little phatty is, Its a personal choice of sound design and playablility. keyboardwiz, I think is amazing on his Moog little phatty Special edition. He's the one who inspired me to play and to create new ideas with my moog. Check out his other videos. You will be impressed. This was my fist video of my moog and I'm glad you are taking interest. Peace!

  • Cool. Nice little toy. Is it expensive?

  • $1250.00 and well worth it for a Moog instrument.

  • I seen this on youtube and was intrigued and I bought a Moog little Phatty. You won't be sorry. And also, I'm Sorry I made you buy one to!! Have fun when you get it.

  • I'm soled fuck it I need one! :) lol thanks for selling me on it :)

  • you should learn "subdivisions" by rush on this thing

  • Yes, I check out the song on Rhapsody music service. Great song.

  • it sounds too clean...to sanitized...

I want to hear something that can tear through walls

  • Yes me to. I like full rich sounds. But sinc e this was my first time with the moog and the audio set-up wasn't that great. I'm just oing toa revap

  • nice chops man. Are you running that straight to an amp or are you using one of those CP-251, what are your opinions one those, if you've used them?

  • Yes, I was running the moog synth out to a Peavey keyboard amp. Reverb effects. CP-251? Never heard of it. I'll do some reading on this unit. Thanks!

  • Cp-251 is a control processor from moog. I have noooooooo idea what it does though. I see videos where people will plug in a cable into one jack and feed it to another jack in the same unit.

  • i'm making a CP-251 and Phatty video right now :) check it!

  • Nice video! I'm getting a stage II as soon as it comes into Aus.

One question but, is it pronounced Moog with a moo sound, or Moog with a moe sound like you say it. I've heard both so I really have no idea.

  • HI, Its pronounced Moe or say the letter O and you get Moge. This is one of the first Video's I made when I purchased this back in june of 2007. Great Synth! The stage II also. Features like, an APPREGIATOR and USB Computer connect. NICE!

  • way better than that keyboard wiz guy!

  • Keyboard wiz is still the wiz... I watch all his amazing videos. We just have different playing styles. Thanks for the nice comment.

  • thanks tony. you were helpful.

  • Glad To help...Moog Synths are fun.... great keyboard action. It seems like the moog Little Phatty plays all by it self sometimes.

  • wow! Little green man of steve vai on a Moog...Ilike it!

    Great Job Tony ;)

  • Thanks! Just some fun little sounds and songs!

  • wow thanks tony thats a great piece of equiptment thinking about putting together some clams for one myself.

  • hi tony. good work, even if i like play the moog

a little more "rock". keep moog alive!

  • It's nice to see a more musical synth demo for a change. I like it that you show what the instrument can be used for in real life, rather than just make some boring bzeep-bzap-blings while trying out each knob and button.

  • I'm glad you liked my demo version of the Moog. I do like experimenting with the sounds you can make with a moog! With this demo however, I was just having fun with all the presets that the moog came with. Making the moog sound musically sounding instead out experimenting with the fiters and Oscillators.

Thanks for the Comment! Check back soon.

  • I'm gettin a Moog Little Phatty real soon

    great sounds

  • Great! You won't be sorry! I play my little phatty at least 4 or 5 times a week. Some times even more so... let me know how the synth is working for you. Thanks for watching.

  • Rick Wakeman.

    Where's the cape?

  • My wife bleached my black Cape!Sorry! But keep watching! Anyway, thanks for the funny comment!

    Keep watching

  • Anytime man. That's great stuff. The LP is just an awesome instrument. I'm a drummer but I have just as much fun on a Moog as I do on my kit.

  • Bravo !!

  • Wow I am a bass player, but I want a Moog LP very cool sounding synt. Thanks for the demo

  • Toyn that moog smokes swettnes to my ears and your phenomenal on the demonstration as well Mark drumhead cna extrodinare

  • Great video, I'm getting a Little Phatty very soon and love seeing somebody who knows what they're doing play with one rather than giving a rundown of technical info.

  • Thanks! Hope you get your Moog Little Phatty soon! Its a amazing Synth! Hope to Hear & see your demos on Youtube.

  • Awesome synth, awesome demo. But you should try connect it directly to your camera/PC/recorder: much better quality. Also very cool: you showed sounds with and without external filters.

  • Yes, This Synth is Fun and thanks for watching! I'm going to try to get a new sound set-up so my demo of my instruments can really be more pleasing to the YouTube Folks ears. Away, thank for the comment. check back again soon!

  • good work. it's nice to see someone who actually knows how to treat a moog right.

  • Thanks, your Right! I'm giving the moog machine respect. Trying to make it sing to the world! Thanks for the nice comment.
