Basically assign her to any specialist task you need (basically, when the crew mentions for sure that they will have to send an individual to do X) EXCEPT the barrier.
She should accomplish her mission but get killed in the process.
But personally, you should probably just reload a save and get Samara.
After this it kills about half your crew and Kelly.
