The explanation for why DR.J's jumper is not really good thinking about Latty birds jumper, he also pulled the ball far over his head. Sorry if my english is not great, i'm norwegaian, what else can i say?
We all know Magic Johnson was a natural point guard. He played that position his whole life. He was the best point guard ever because what other point guard could literally play every single position? The video is not showing Magic's point guard skills, but what set him apart from other points guards, i.e., his versatility.
Everyone saying the video is incorrectly titled is missing the point here: he's the best PG because he was capable of playing this far away from his natural position in the NBA Finals as a rookie, and elevating his game to the highest level. In the end, Magic was still a PG essentially playing out of position. What other PG could dominate from other positions like this? Oscar wouldn't have been able to handle the 5. Stock, West, Cousy, Isiah, Paul, Kidd, GP? No way could they handle bigs.
Magic had incredible court vision, unparalleled intuition, and a basketball IQ rivaled only by Larry Bird. He combined that with incredible ball handling packaged in a 6' 9" frame which made him the best PG in NBA history.
The body size is similar to the SG/SF. Low post offense is the best way to attract the help defense and create the open space for his teammate. Can you imagine that the 6'0-6'4' tall PG, need to defense MAGIC, who is the skillful, smart player and ability on passing. And on the court, his work is similar to swing man or the SF/PF.
I think that MAGIC is not the best PG, as he is NOT a PG.
Cool. breakdown. I know it's hard to compare the NBA back then to the NBA now, but if you can, do you think that the teams in general are better now than they were back then?
Good Breakdown Coach Nick...Though many people don't share your opinion including me somewhat...I understand your views on why you thought Magic was the best PG of all time.
Good breakdown but its nothing about "Why Magic Johnson Was the Best PG Of All Time", you've shown barely any highlights of Magic's plays from this game! Awesome nuggets with young Daly and Riles though:)
@bballbreakdown i could never tell, was he as good a player as he was a coach, also can you do breakdowns of the kobe/shaq lakers in the finals and see why they were dominant, and also can you breakdown kobes 81 game to see how toronto let him have the 2nd greatest performance in history?
When you have these titles" why magic johnson was the best pg of all time " i WISH you can you prove that by putting several games of his career and possessions that made him the best.. its like saying kobe being the best ever by featuring his 81 point game.. that wont do it -.-
I think any educated fan can say Kareem's games 1 through 5 and playing on a broken leg(in game 5) was more MVP worthy than Magic's 1 incredible game. He did not deserve this Finals MVP.
why does the title say Magic is the best pg of all time? while it's hard to argue that notion, i'm not sure how this video demonstrates it(7 assists) other than saying he was just incredibly versatile in what position he could play. just saying. loved the breakdown as always. have u broken down any MJ games yet??
Hey Coach, do you think the sixers mentally broke themselves down in thinking they were gonna win cause Lakers didn't have kareem causing them to not play as well?
Ha! Jamaal Wilkes "silky smooth" jumper is father back than Dr J's [That's called results bias] check this same jumper in 1984 [WATER].

Why is it when Dr. J "heaves the ball" while shooting it's not effective, but when Larry Bird heaves the ball its money ever time?
