When I do this to my hair it shrinks and get's hard as a brick. It takes like a whole day to dry and just ends up a frizzy mess. I have no idea what i'm doing wrong...SMH

@brandi1525 The eco is a very stiff gel that can get super hard depending on your hair. The gell itself is a 10 which is the hardest hold. I would try using the clear one or the pink one that has a much lighter hold and use some heavier oils under the gel as well to help with frizz and crunch.

Your hair looks great! Absolutely beautiful. I was laughing everytime your you had to go tend to the kids. Oh, your results are so pretty! You said that if you use the Eco gel too much it dries your hair out, does it have protein? If so maybe thats why, just a thought.

i really like ur curly look. i just wanted to know what the reason for the bands? and do u ever do any styles to ur curls like pin up the front or sides? also if u have ever used the eco jel on straight hair?

@mrstuttle09 Banding your hair at night keeps your hair from getting flat and matted down as you sleep. Most of the time I just wear it free, don't like bands and stuff plus I like it big! I used ot use Eco when I was relaxed to slick my edges but that was about it, it won't curl straight hair because there has to be some sort of curl in the hair already.

@kameelean In the winter I do mostly twist outs because I like to air dry and my hair would never dry in the winter and using the dryer in the winter with the cold dry air would cause breakage for me.

I have been watching your vids for a couple of months and I finally did the Big chop after a year transitioning. don't know why i didn't subscribe!!!! so glad i saw this tutorial. I do just a little of Eddie's 'Wisdom' moisturizing cream after my ecostyler. Good vid. However, if I manipulate my hair too much with product, it completely looks frizzy and cottony, eeewwww!

@peacelovenmelons No I haven't. By the end of the week I just feel like I need to wash my hair. It's like a weekly spa day for me because after I wash I deep condition. I look forward to it weekly.

I agree with you about the EcoStyler Olive Oil gel.... the best curl definition but if used for a long period of time it will dry out the hair. I have to use mine in spurts (two weeks on-two weeks off). BTW your hair is fab.

Miracurl is waaaay better, but it holds up ok.  Personally, I have to do a two strand twist on Miracurl or KCCC for it to define my curls. It's more manageable and softer that way.

lol @ the kids fighting like teenagers I have a 11 mth old and 3 yr old that fight like the Hatfields and McCoys. Will this method work on short (about 4 inches long) hair?

@teena211 It should, if it's long enough to pull into small ponytails all over then you should be ok. All lengths of hair can use the gel.

i love this tutorial... I love Eco styler w/ olive oil, I'm really gonna have to try the "banding the hair at night" trick to help elongate my curls. & using the defuser attachment is a great idea... I'm headed to Walmart tomorrow to get that blow dryer.

love love your hair...and i was wondering..seeing as how mainly do wash and gos....do you experience breakage?...and also do you do any protective styling?..and how often do you keep your wash and gos in..because some people say lots of manipulation break your hair off...but your hair has amazing growth!...i like the cute styles but i am scared that my hair may break off...

@tashnik I don't experience breakage. My wash n go styles last a full week so I am not manipulating or combing my hair for an entire week. At the end of the week I make sure to deep condition to strengthen my hair and moisturize. You won't know what your hair likes unless you try it, don't make hair decisions based off of what others say will happen or won't happen. Your hair might end up liking or tolerating something that someone elses hair can't.
