@WiiMan1133 its visually implied in the story that krypton is a dying planet, it's supposed to look like a crystal city iced over, its glory now in decay, the sun has expanded as a red giant giving less heat. this creates irony to the fact that the council refuses to evacuate the planet content with accepting their fate

Jor-El is actually a rebel who defies the council and sends his son Kal-El in hebrew קל-אל, means "voice of God" to a young star system
