  • The only thing he said correctly was that chin ups are easier than pull ups. that's only because 2 muscle groups are being used (Biceps and Lats). However, pull ups are much better for back because it isolates the lats by making you use less biceps.

  • this information isn't correct. Have you ever tried doing rows with tweaked wrists? You can't do as much weight because you're putting strain on your wrists. Good way to sprain or break it.

    Back exercises use triceps as a secondary muscle much more than the biceps unless you're doing a close grip exercise or chin up.

    I'm doing a BACK exercise. Not a bicep exercise, I'm hoping my back muscle will fatigue because that's the muscle group i'm working out.

  • Both the OPEN and the CLOSED grips will work out your back and biceps. The OPEN-HANDED grip will work your lats more than the biceps and the CLOSE-HANDED grip will work your biceps more than your lats.

  • You're looking at it the wrong way; pullups and chinups are compound exercises - entirely different exercises with different purposes at that. If only wish to work your biceps to the max, go do some dumbbell curls (isolate the muscle).

    Pullups are more difficult because of the increased emphasis on the triceps. All in all, any solid beginner strength training routine WILL involve compound exercises such as chinups and pullups to strengthen the arm proportionally.

    Scott Herman has some interesting exercises but he doesnt really seem to cover the aspect of nutrition or some fundamentals for beginners. I use his videos to introduce variety into my workouts.
