@IAINoodle The movie is called, "Back To The Beach". It's a REALLY fun parody of all those old beach movies that Frankie & Annette did back in the early `60's. They poke fun of themselves a number of times in this movie! I forget who did the song first, but it's from WAY back in the days of the original beach movies, back when Ska was stil called, Blue Beat. There's a video or two of it here on YouTube, just look up Jamica Ska and you SHOULD be able to find it.
@JustinCombustion oh man.....i remember this being my favorite scene, when i was 7. now that im a grown man, and love fishbone, i can understand why this was my favorite scene.
I loved being in this film as an extra. 5 days work at Zuma and great memories.
I loved seeing Annette, Frankie, Peewee Herman and the rest. Of course Dick Dale. I used to see him each week at Harmony Park dance place in Anaheim..He played there weekly. Their all great. After this was made, Annette was diagnosed w/ MS and it broke my heart. She's magnificent
oh the 80's. i think this movie and tapeheads with the swanky modes were my 2 favorite movie soundtracks back then. Fishbone is in both, so that has a lot to do with it.
This movie came out waaaaay before the Propaghandi song, and right around the beginning of the third wave (what Propaghandi refers to as "ska revival"). The song itself is a Byron Lee song from the 60s that was produced specifically to break ska in to the U.S. charts.

Still lookin' good though....
