gearing up yes - clutch used for take-offs and gearing down. these transmissions are expensive though....up there with rossler autos, jericho's, etc

You pose a good question.. these trans are clutchless and you don't need to lift on the shift.. maybe he is trying to control the tire spin that way insted of using the clutch to do this.. would like to know what clutch combo he is running..
