Personally I think this is a great cover of a great song. Neurosis weren't trying to be anything they're not here. I think they managed to capture the spirit of the song while letting their own 'unique' sound shine through. And for those saying this sucks fine that's your opinion but you're taking them at face value based on 1 song. A COVER song! Trust me neurosis are an absolutely brilliant band capable touching you and moving you much like Black Sabbath who were a huge influence on them.
when a song works this well in at least two styles, it is a song that goes beyond mere genre and into metal epicness.... pardon the cliche .... and while i normally dont listen to neurosis... damn. they did a cover worth listening to! gonna have to check out more of their stuff. If its half this good I may have to add them to my favorite bands list.
This is the ultra depressive version of the song that completely deemphasizes the proto-speed/thrash elements of the original and amplifies the doom. Compare with Master's cover of the same song, which ups the speed and aggression.
hmmm I've heard of another band also called Neurosis who also covered. That version sucked ass, generic thrash crap. I'm glad these guys did this too, it's so unique and badass. Love how they threw in some of their tribal stuff in their too.
If a band covers a song and virtually plays the same song, then why cover it? Neurosis did an excellent version of this song. While you can still clearly hear that it's 'Children of the Grave', they gave it the Neurosis-treatment: it sounds like it could have been an original song from one of their albums.
@HoosierMF Ministry are a third rate Godflesh (and Godflesh are more comparable to Neurosis) ... so HoosierMF, I'm taking your side here. Neurosis and Ministry have little in common.
I just got this record today, it was quite hard to get but well worth the wait. Fucking crushing version of an already heavy song. Cheers for the upload!
a quarter of shrooms and the vibes of Neurosis will change your whole perspective and out look

Although i dont like this i have to admit that these guys are the only band that truly made a cover for this song. They didnt just copy the Sabs.

Great to hear that someone can cover a song and make it sound like their own... But this sort of music just doesn't fall into my taste :<

a pretty goog version but i hate when it hardly resembles the original.. i guess thats the point

in this song ^^ all the other cover about this song is just trash...
daffyproto 2 years ago
hadn't ever listened to the White Zombie cover. Listened to it after this. As usual they sounded like a second rate version of Ministry.
bosshallucy 2 years ago
@bosshallucy Regardless of whether you like them or not, Neurosis sound nothing like Ministry

@HoosierMF Try actually reading comment..... then reply.

@bosshallucy I did read it.
If, as you say, Neurosis are a second rate version of Ministry then they'd have to sound at least a bit similar. But they don't. At all.
HoosierMF 1 year ago
@You obviously are having trouble here...What I said was the WHITE ZOMBIE version sounds like a second rate MInistry.... jesus christ....
