This is such a sad story I'm so sorry it happen but when death comes unfortunately we cant see it but it is not the last of us for Christ Conquered death and the grave through god and lived again so too will we through Christ our lord. Let them Rest In Piece Knowing that at the coming of Christ they and all the Righteous dead will live again but this time forever so too for the righteous who died everyday. All fans come with regulators so that on can control the speed low-midium-high-super high speed. High speed (often set as default) is quite normal at Churches, Non-ac cinema houses, public halls etc, never heard of falling fan incident. Thanks

Once the coffin leaves the house it is closed but while entering the church to top is opened and kept opened till the end of the mass. When it is taken out for burial or to the cemetery it is closed once again for the last time and this is done outside the church. This is the practice followed in Goa. I saw in western counties, films etc that once coffin is closed is not opened even at the church, which is good and a safe practice, I feel. thanks

No offense, but I don't understand why the government is to blame here? Someone has to report a downed wires before anyone can do anything about it, and it looks like they didn't realize the wire was down when this happened? It looks to me like one of those tragic, inexplainable accidents that befalls decent folks in life. My condolences to your family.

The overhead wires from Govt. electricity Dept are very old and weak often snaps or break anytime. Several request made to replace the old and worn out wires but no action taken thus playing with the lives of the innocent people. pl visit my blog see links abv.

I too notice this is comparatively shallow, most others are twice as deep.

Cemetery in Goa are well compounded /Wall all 4 sides with a strong main gate. So, no chance for any animals etc. Cemetery gates remain closed all the times except during funerals and anniversary masses.  The graves are reused after 3 years. thanks and sorry for the late reply

After 3years, if a grave is dug up, all you find is sand and bones.

Plus some small non-biogradable items like nylon socks, gloves etc.

Some family members request the church /grave digger to keep the bones which in turn go in the wall in the form of a memorial (paid for space/service). In most cases such bones etc (small carrybagful) go in one common enclosed place within the cemetery. A cemetery may have abt 150 graves for abt 8k population. see pic links abv

We lost a grandchild back in 2006. Families should not have to bury their kids. However, the gov't is negligently responsible for these deaths & for the loss of this family's financial stability. I hope something was done to compensate them for their tragic loss My condolences to the family.

Where something like this happen i.e. wire snaps / breaks, power line should automatically go off (via blown off fuse from Main transformer) but in Goa they used short cut, using thick fuse wire so that it saves their time everytime the fuse blown. Lazzy fellows

@JoeUkGoa Would a proper fuse have opened if the wire fell on this ground, which may not be a good enough conductive path to blow the fuse? Fuses work well when shorted phase to phase.

Did the father not see the wire, or touched it to move it?

So.rry abouthe son also being electrocuted. Sad that he did not use a dry wooden chair to move wire away from father. Or jump up and grab the wire and fling it away while hanging in the air from the wire.

thanks. This ancident took place at night at 10 almost outside their residence.

Father was returning back frm work (after long hours at sea /fisherman). The snapped wire was on the ground on their walking pathway. Probably, he did not notice it. Son who was inside, came out after he heard his father struggling for life, not knowing what to do, I guess, he tried to save him n got electrocuted, mother too came for help but son advised not to come any closer..pl visit blog
