I just cannot get this out of my head!! I keep coming back to this once every hour! The video is equally good showing the small things which are such an integral part of the culture...
It is very heartening to see the comments on this song as well..A very decent and civilized discussion..Great job people! :-)
dis is my great grand dads house wer d film is taken ! i love d music f dis film :) yeah itz in east godavari, near ramchandrapuram ! d name of dis village is kulla :)
The original Mathey Malayadhwaja Pandya Samjathe is a composition in the Khamas ragam by Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavatar. This is a nicely done rendition which accurately captures the essence of the song. Nice work by Mani Sharma.
Mani Sharma. Can you please give me more information about him and his past works? Reply to this message if you get the chance, so i would get it in my email.
He's a music director in South India; works mostly in Telugu films. Look up his name on Musicindiaonline under Telugu or Tamil.
The other person working on Morning Raga (but not this track) is Amit Heri. I personally find his Morning Raga tracks to be more intricate and sophisticated compared to Mani's, but I really don't know much about his work outside of Morning Raga. I think the Morning Raga album can be found on the Raaga website, and maybe Musicindiaonline too.
I am americnan...not in any way Indian or asian for that fact, but I love the india culture, food, movies, and music. I am completely facinated by this culture and I have yet to see this movie. :'( Does anyone know where I can go watch it because I've been listening to the songs for over 2 months and I love it! Shabana Azmi is one of my favourite Indian actresses. :)
1 of the best hits of sudha ragunathan..its really awesome.....my favourite....there are some songs which best suites Sudha Ragunathan...like maathey, taaye yashodha and akilandeshwari....

Nice to know there is a bharat cafe in Australia too. There is one very nice one near my place in Chennai....
@kourinsakura Visit Bay area San Francisco, you will get both filter coffee, idli and authentic chutney. BTW, I am from North India and love Carnatic music and even though I couldn't identify the song, it was clear that it is not work of some mere mortal. Superb doesn't describe it correctly.
i love this film and all songs..jus watched the songs in youtube, never heard abt this movie elsewhere..but have heard this song 50 times i na week..great job mani/amit if u c this..and ofcourse sudha's voice is great plus as always
@2696787 and the music, temples, rice fields, folk songs, dance, art, culture.
But I dont like the deforestation, DMK-style politics, hot weather, quality of water - what they call 'drinking water' I wont use to clean my hands with.
The movie is very good in parts. Overall, it could have been made better. Good effort though. Nice song, obviously!
Movie shot mostly at the boundary between East and West Godavari districts (!!!) -- Narsapur, Razole.. and surroundings.. The temple in the beginning is Draksharama (constructed around 11th century A.D.)
both carnatic and hindustani use classification schemes for ragas. carnatic uses an extensive 72-way classification scheme that allows for all associations for 7 virtual notes (sa-re-ga-ma-pa-da-ni) to the 12 frequencies in an octave. thaat is a 10-way classification scheme for ragas originated in the 18th (?) century by vishnu narayan bhatkhande.
todi in carnatic is a raga. todi thaat is a collection of ragas associated with todi by bhatkhande.
uh, yeah, she did. she's said so in many interviews and she publicly stated it on indian idol, i doubt she'd lie about something that important on such a well-watched program. most actors/actresses *have* to learn the rudiments of music.

O Mother! You are the daughter of the Pandyaking Malayadhwaja
You are the lady with the face glowing green
O Mother! You have the beauty of the moon
You have great expertise in all arts
You allow equal rights to all creeds
You are soft and sweet spoken
You express affection in music and rhythm
You inspire us with your beautiful and expressive song
You have gained fame for killing the demon Mahishasura
You protect and care for Sri Krishna Rajendra, the Maharaja of Mysore
