However Cassandra and the hugely underated Day before you Came are also briliant. The video was all wrong. For me the words are about how all was dull and familiar until "He" came. But the speed of the tune does it.. Picks up at home time for example

As for the meaning of this song, I've always pictured it about a woman who got in over her head and was being pursued by gangsters or a crime outfit wanting to do her in.  Would have made for a great video clip.

I always thought at the time of it's release anyway, that it was the closest that ABBA ever came to what was then called "new-wave" music. To me this would have fit perfectly on the Voulez-Vous album.

I've never been into the LYRICS of a song as much as the MUSIC 1st and the syncopation of the lyrics 2nd. I've heard songs that were deemed satanic or negative that would still be great songs if the lyrics were changed.

I guess it's just a question of opinion then. Super Trouper is one of ABBA's best albums and I don't agree that Elaine is "better than half the songs" on the album. Another reason why Elaine was not included was the fact that, perhaps, the lyrics were deemed too negative, as were those of "Put on Your White Sombrero". Well my name is not Elaine but I'm still going to make a comment... I don't agree with you Meadeser, Elaine is a good song but not good enough to be included in the Super Trouper album. B&B were right to leave it out, it didn't fit with the other songs, the sound of the song is a bit of a throwback to early 70s music with the Wah-wah effect and I don't think it would have fit with the other songs on the album. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song but not on the Super Trouper album.
