I just had my first taste of English tobacco as well (Dunhill My Mixture 965) and it absolutely blew my mind, i don't know if i will ever smoke anything else. Does anyone have any suggestions of other great English Tobaccos that i could try?
Just tried my first English Tobacco last night. Was smoking an aromatic called Fireside, but was impressed with the English Tobacco. No great room note, but the flavor was spectatular. I think it was called King's Ransom or smething.
since i started smoking english about a year ago i just cant stand aromatics anymore!(taste wise).as u said english doesnt smell good but god damn it tastes awesome and addictive.
The only aromatic I like alot is captain spice from tinder box. tried philosopher which is an english and it was way to strong maybe I ill like another better. I love smoking a latakita early morning while just chilly outside.

Dunhill early morning, and the tobacconist gave me a few samples of english house blends and they all were great. The first time i smoked a non aromatic i knew i would never be able to look at them the same.
do you like any virginia or virginia/perique blends. i have a couple tins that are great. i may be getting more after i pick up some more english blends
Well, pipe smoking is not all about aroma. Flavor prevails every time! Does one no good if a tobacco smells like heaven and tastes like hell. A new car smells good, but I would never try and smoke one.
I wish they would still make original tobacco instead of the crap they make today. Not only does it taste better, but it is better for you as it has less poisionous things added to it. BTW nightcap is my favourite ;)
I started smoking with a corn cob pipe and some sherry and cherry tobacco from pöschl tabak i liked it but when i bought my first briar pipe i also started to smoke english and i really like the taste and sometimes people say that it smells good like a fine and expensive cigar my first english was dunhill my mixture 965
I've noticed the same thing you're saying; i recently got some "classic english" tobacco and it smells remarkably different than other tobaccos i've smoked, but it tastes very good.
It does please me - A LOT! I know NOTHING that tastes better than Nightcap! Sadly, Dunhill has rescinded its contract with its sole importer to Brazil and didn't get another one. So, it can't be found here any more. :-(
this might sound a bit weird, but it worked for me on reviving dry tobac. just drop some ample amounts of water directly into the bag, shake and put near a warm place...i use a space heater, or u can do sunlight areas of the house. You will see initial condensation on the side of the bag, and then it dissapears and the tobacco is nice and sticky again.
Haha.. yeah it can be powerful stuff in a small room.. Do you have a favorite English blend.? Also do you find the local blends from your tobacconist better or the more well know brands such as Dunhill.?

just wondering, my local tobacconist sells a pipe tobacco called BCA. i was wondering what it stands for, its a dark cavendish, and very good.
also what are some of your favorite blends, not only english, but favorite overall, im still exploring new blends every week

One of my favorites is an aromatic tobacco blend of Barley and Virginia. It is very good and smells delicious!

Starter tobacco: Go to a local tobacconist and ask what's popular. I suggest startting with aromatics. Pipe: Boswell or Peterson
