  • It's the same who complain about the global war,

But can't overthrow the local joker that they voted for.

That is so true. Everyone always complains that the president did this or isn't doing that, but what about that guy you voted in who's destroying your city?

  • Republicrat, Democran, one-party system.

    Preach it, Sage.

  • Sage Francis is a modern day philosopher just like Slug, Eyedea, Brother Ali, Equipto, The Grouch, DOOM, Dessa, Cecil Otter, P.O.S., Aesop Rock, and many more.

  • "Friendly Fire" is a funny term

    Like "civil war"

  • Gandhi > Ghandi

  • new 2 sage francis...i heard a remix/mashup of this and had 2 check 'em out, any reccomendations 2 check out ???

  • @tatershaw this album "a Healthy Distrust" was fantastic, it was like he reached a new milestone. as for his classic albums Personal Journals was an incredible work of art. sage francis is the kind of music you have to listen to when you're feeling introspective.

  • @tatershaw Conspiracy to riot. Narcisscists, Make shift patriot, Hoofs in sandprints. can all be found on youtube

  • Used to rock this daily on my CD-freestyle in 2004.

  • BOOYAH!

  • I love this song.

  • In the words of Ken Kesey, "Fuck it, friends."

A healthy distrust is the basis of a healthy democracy.

I've got a healthy case of paranoia.

  • i want to be a spokesmen for strang famous

  • pooping is for toilets and afterwords you watch the spiral make you loose your mind i like pooping outside i practice it regularly it drops strait down and doesnt go anywhere

  • Who' s down for a revolution? Downnnnn.

  • i know itsabout ghandi and shit but i stilll get the erge to kill a fucking cop or two .. just the ones who fuck with me what ...

  • I wanna hear Sage and Lupe colaborate!

  • my momma loves this song. speacially the part about rich getting richer till the poor get educated. boy did i mess that one up...

  • Just one thing I'll say

Hate, don't hate just my opinion ya know

Em is great with his songs, some are plain crazy, but some are heartfelt, the true underground shit. But doing that is beast, cause his heartfelt stuff makes the intelligent ppl like him, the crazy shit makes, the lil wayne fans like him, pretty simple ain't it.

They both got passion, but Sage is truly an intellectual Em ain't, so his stuff switches whatcha gona do, go back in time and change his childhood.

  • THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE SICKEST SONGS.

  • Its sad that these lyrics and many other similar songs of his and other artist will never be heard by most of the world; furthermore, the majority of those who are blessed to hear songs of such will not even fully comprehend or actually give an effort to depict the metaphors and realize how much deeper this song is and the world in general than songs about "pussy, money, weed" and dumbass dances like Soulja Boy. Yes I purposely used that example. Technology has advanced our world carelessly.

  • @IjustWannaFish And yeah, I know it's part of they plans

To make us think it's all about party and dancin'

And yo it might sound good when you spittin' your rap

But in reality, don't nobody live like that - Dead Prez

  • Fucking great track

  • EVERYONE STOP TALKING ABOUT FEMINEM. This is a SAGE video. It's REAL. Substantial. Direct. Educated. He's not talking about a fantasy relationship or doing crack with his mom or raping boys (I'm sure Em's touched on that at one point. Okay, I'm ranting now. I'm equally to blame.) BUT FOR REAL. For real real, guys. Fucking cut it out. I want to see 75 comments about how sick this song is. Go.

  • real artists talk about society and humanity. thats what their purpose is. not cars, bottles, and FAKE lifestsyles . fuck that shit . what we need is more artistry like sage.

  • BOOOYEAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So look for truth. Quit seeking forgiveness.

You need to cut the noose, but you don't believe in scissors

You support the troops by wearing yellow ribbons?

Just bring home our motherfuckin' brothers and sisters.

  • @justbcuzimbigger Lol, Sage raps faster than your mother fucked up her pregnancy with you. That is pretty damn fast.

  • Sage Francis is way too sick. Not only is Sage, ultra poetic, has this unique continuous flow and fantastically lyrical, his voice has the power of a pastor during sermon.

I like Sage Francis because he doesn't drop anything tasteless, rap isn't all about skeeting in giant assess and snorting coke off of diamond encrusted glocks. This is deep and real.

Search Eddie Pesos "North of Death" and "Hayley" Puerto Rock kid from PA droppin' ill joints on the mic.

  • fucking intense.

  • he has so much passion in his songs reminds me of eminem

  • @SkateHeavenOfficial Eminem? Haha, thanks for the laugh.

  • @SkateHeavenOfficial u remind me of gay

  • @ANPKOOL lmfao

  • @SkateHeavenOfficial This dude is on a much higher level than Eminem, because he's real and truthful, too. Listen to the song Midgets And Giants.

  • sages best song

  • wigger raps son, yo were rocking the suburbs yo,mad dope skills yo. lmao please, im intelligent rapper, i should be played on the radio wah wah wah my music is depressing wah thumbs down if you dont like lil wayne wah wah. get over yourselves dam wiggers ,f'n phonies this goes for all you lil whiteys ,mexicans and jap boys . phooooooonies. stop trying , stick to rock n roll "dudes" lmao

  • @justbcuzimbigger nothing you said makes sense. you're stuck in this racial pretense that doesn't even let you recognize art when it's right in front of you. If you grow up and travel someday you'll see lots of different kinds of art done by all kinds of different people. Or you could stick to your ignorant bullshit that nobody wants to hear.

  • @justbcuzimbigger I want to meet you so bad. You're probably a fat black girl with a T-Pain shirt on. Just. Grow. Up. You'll never understand art or music, but the fact that you commented on a Sage Francis song shows me that maybe, just for a second, you tried. Cheers for that. But you're retarded.

  • @justbcuzimbigger screw.you.fatass.

  • Man I haven't listened to this album in a few years, Sage Francis crafted a masterpiece with this one. It's a horrible shame how he's not so much more well-known, that's the fate of a real artist I guess.

  • Wow its funny people just talk, Alil of there mouth some times... I some times wonder how minds think.... Really Im glad people leave videos for me to watch. Weeeee High 5... I might want to tuck my shit back and squeeze my head $uper hard from behind doing a reach around till my head starts to glows in the dark.

  • Nobody here gives a rat's ass about Eminem. Shut the fuck up about Slim. Just because they're both white? You're just as pretentious and intelligent as a fourteen year old and probably a lot younger, too. To compare this guy with Eminem is to compare a goldmine with a fucking piece of shit on a rusty platter.

  • Shut the fuck up about Eminem, did l come here to listen to Eminem? No. ls he good, thats opinion, and fuck your opinions.

  • sage is a lyrical mastermind

  • thanks legion of doom for bringing me here

  • It's not about "rapping about politics" it's about being able to and wanting to. Eminem either can't or doesn't, and if he doesn't want to rap about it, if he did it wouldn't exactly be good, would it? It'd be forced, also, am I the only one here who doesn't like Immortal?

  • @MrSynthSound yes you are

  • @MrSynthSound

What exactly is your issue with Immortal Technique, besides telling you things you probably could've never fathomed in your own head and on your own times?

  • @MrSynthSound immortal tech is the shit.

  • dont compare Em to Sage... EVER. You cant say if Em rapped about this, this would happen. who the fuck knows what would happen, bottom line is Em HASNT and CANT be compared to Sage mutah fucking Francis... two different styles, one is about REALITY the other is about fantasy... phsss... the truth keeps calling me and IM GONNA LIVE TO TELL THE STORY!

  • 66666

  • GIVE ME ETHNICITY OR GIVE ME DREADS. hah, welcome to community college

  • I prefer the Akira the Don version.

  • rich get richer till the poor get educated

  • @Flammin5s sooo true haha

  • @Flammin5s its difinitive that u need to fall for something as dull as that

  • @10qaws I agree with you. But that line means alot to me, that's why I posted it.

  • @Flammin5s sorry for being an ass i really do beet myself up sometimes i really hate school mannn teachures where meen no what i meen thats all im sayin and you can agree to see its not like that open commenting be like wata no form ;)

  • @Flammin5s by the way you channel the picture with the ambiance on earth .. its weird man its like thus blue sky protects us from seeing the rawness kinda sorta i dont know what im trying to explaine

  • ;)

  • "On my soap box yelling into megaphones.

Killing hard rocks using carcasses as stepping stones.

Had to promise that I'd stop holding my marches

The day that Chris Columbus got crucified on golden arches.

My pedestal was too tall to climb off,

In fact that's the reason for the high horse.

    And from up here I see Marines and Hummers on a conquest;

Underdogs with wonderbras in a push-up contest,

All for the sake of military recruitment.

It felt like Kent State the way they targeted the students" O.o

  • i think sage has other concerns like making music dude sorry for the correction

  • Everyone Check out Bobby Franklyn on facebook.

If you like Sage you'll like my music

    facebook (dot) com / Bobbyfranklyn

  • If you like Sage, check out my video. I just put up a page. I do hip hop to banjo's and guitars. Whitty, ruthless lyrics...check it out, good shit

  • I'd say immortal technique and sage have to be up there with eminem and them. Immortal would be a ultera superstar if he went mainstream

  • @AjM945 It's not about being a superstar to these guys. I believe Immortal Tech said that label records only choose a selection of an artists songs to put on a record. Sage once stated that he's just glad that people are listening to his music, even if it's free.

I would not associate them with Em.

  • @Condition1Latin hes comparing there flow not their message my friend. they have completely different styles, what he is saying is they are just sick in how they flow, unfortunately eminem doenst want to rap about politics, if he did he would be killed, because he is so big he would literally change the world. no doubt about that. if em put out the much sage and immortal technique did, so many more people would get the message, but then em would get shot outside of a nightclub like pac.

  • @AjM945 You sir, are a fool

  • @Zero010993 so right

  • @AjM945 You're entitled to your opinion. But i honestly can't understand why you would put Eminem in the same list as Francis and Tech. Eminem wishes he could rap like them...

  • @censurabass Still that would be dope if Eminem and Sage did a Song.

  • @Sagefrakrobatik Agreed!

  • @Sagefrakrobatik

It would be dope if Eminem never did a song again.

  • @MANIAC119833 this^

  • @censurabass eminem can tear it up just as good as these guys, three of my favorite rappers, eminem is just mainstream. if em did political rap it wouldnt sell. i wish he did more political rap but it is what it is but you cannot deny eminems talent, he just chooses not to use it like immortal and others. if eminem rapped like immortal he would be better than him. and im one of immortals biggest fans, just speakin truth.

  • @AjM945

If Sage (or any other truth emcee out there for that matter) ever realized they were considered to be in the same category as Eminem, they would probably stop making music forever.

And I wouldn't blame them one bit.

  • @MANIAC119833 Sage isn't even close to being in the same category of Eminem

  • @aca28833

You're right, Sage is in a completely different dimension. That dimension, is higher than Em's my friend. You could take Eminems best lyrics and compare them against Sages worst and Sage will still win lyrically. It's a different rapping style for sure, but Eminem does not have as much substance. In my books, subtance is everything when it comes to hip hop comparisons.

  • @1414shellshock

two completely different artists. they're so far apart it's not even relevant to compare them.

  • @1414shellshock How does Eminem not have substance??

  • @aca28833

I did not say he didn`t have substance, if you read the comment. He does, but it`s of a lot less real face value than Sages, that`s just my opinion. There are many more hidden messages and voiced intents coming from Sage than Em, and that`s fact. Em spits for different reasons, one of them being money now. He can claim he doesn`t, but he does. This is especially apparent when you consider how much he dumbed himself down to even consider doing a song with Nikki Minaj....

  • @1414shellshock What do you define as face value? Who said "face value" and hidden messages makes u a better rapper? Eminem puts his heart and soul into his rhymes, he is real hides nothing. He's not a middle class suburbanite with a college vocab who performs spoken word poetry at coffee shops. He came up battle rapping in the slums of Detroit and he presents himself as who he is, which is why he is so original and his style so distinct. Sage is good but he is not completely original, his style

  • @1414shellshock bears and uncanny resemblance to Slug of Atmosphere and to a lesser extent Aesop Rock. & as far as his less than perfect recent work, lets judge artist by the work they did in they're prime not the work done when they were already passed, cuz if thats the case, Sage hasn't been faring to well as of late either.

  • @aca28833

Sage is original son, the only other MC that can compare to his complexity is Aesop. Bro, I honestly don't care about your interpretation of hip-hop, I was simply stating mine like you asked. I base my love for rappers on their lyrical ability first and foremost, but that's just me. I would completely disagree at the notion that Sage is falling off. His last album is wicked, i'm sure alot of people will vouch for me on that one. 16 years blows my mind amost every single day.

  • @1414shellshock Yes sir.

  • @1414shellshock I don't give a fuck what u think of my interpretation, I don't need some hipster dushe, wannabe underground head who only listens to white rappers to approve of my interpretation of hip-hop.. Ive seen ur kind before, stick to indie rock

  • @aca28833

My kind? What is "my kind"? You're a punk dude, you couldn't defend you argument so you accuse my intelligence? Get fucking real, some of my favourite rappers are black (skyzoo, blueprint etc). and what the fuck is wanna underground head? You have some explaining to do.

  • @aca28833 Yeah ur kind, pretentious hipsters who, as i assume u do, come from upper middle class white homes, jump from indie/alt rock onto the underground hip hop band wagon after its already been popularized and claim they know what "real hip hop" is even though they know nothing of the history of the genre.. And for the record hip hop is overwhelmingly made up of black rappers so if those are the only black rappers u listen to then thats saying something..

  • @1414shellshock his new album isnt anything about money.

  • @mosnotdef1

I'm not talking about his lyrical content, I'm talking about his motivation for writing the things that he does.. dur

  • @1414shellshock i doubt he does it for money anyway

  • can you say immortal tech?

  • man im starting to despise this "rap" shit

  • ''they demonize welfare, middle class eliminated, rich get richer till the poor get educated''. sage always has substance and a message. you got to support real art like this. this track makes me feel good. not all song have to be serious but these artists should be responsible if we are going to support and fund them

  • @nonphixional1 Agreed.

  • I used to be obessed with this song like 2 years ago but on my ipod it was like track 7 so i had no idea who it was or the name of the song but it was a different version a different beat in the back but i dont think it was a remix does anyone maybe know??

  • @Ski4lif37 hands down Ghandi - Legion of Doom

  • "Rich get richer 'til the poor get educated."

    Yeah!

  • "Who's the one to blame for this strain in my vocal chords?

Who can pen a hateful threat but can't hold a sword?

It's the same who complain about the global war,

But can't overthrow the local joker that they voted for."

I consider this man a Prophet.

  • You spelled Gandhi wrong.

  • @Jesse123howard No...you spelled it wrong. :p

  • @BSUstudent450 no you spelled it wrong haha.

  • @Jesse123howard Seriously, can the person who uploaded this video please correct the spelling of Gandhi?

  • under dogs with wonderbras in a pushup contest

  • Sage expresses something rare these day's, Intelligence.

this songs should be a wake up call for society. if you listen to the Lyrics

it puts the core of societies issues in your face...what are you going to do about it?

  • @nirvana420sativaczar Geez, I hadn't really thought about until now. Nothing I guess. What are you going to do?

  • Comment removed

  • @nirvana420sativaczar Listen to Immortal Technique, bro.

  • @chris96kalonji fuck yeah man, you speak the truth

  • @chris96kalonji Tech is great, but not like Sage. ImmTech is just a pissed off Columbian genius with a grudge for America's government. It's because he is from Harlem and 9/11 got under MY skin, and I am from Patchogue, Long Island. He is from the city; imagine the intensity of that hate. Nonetheless, he has great music, but cannot add up to Sage. I think Sage pulls past even Iron Solomon.

  • @DEVBAGUPINTHIS I disagree. Immortal Technique is better because he provides us with solutions. Sage really just says what's happening. We need a Revolution, a violent armed struggle, and Sage doesn't really agree with war. He doesn't realize there's neccessity in war, there's just different types of war. War for resources, peace, against-tyrrany, revenge, etc.

  • this is an anthem.

  • genius. Legion of Doom's mash up is awesome too

  • i am the creator of the "HipHopApostles" group on facebook and would like to share the real hip hop with the people who give respect to it

  • you spelled GANDHI wrong

  • Comment removed

  • Im in the service and I think its hillarious when I hear that lyric about under dog in psh up bras.lol Keep it up sage great poetry!

  • THis is like Flobots?

  • Comment removed

  • Goosbumps.

  • Sage is alot like Nas, love this Lounge Rap Stuff!!

  • ill play the scab at your hunger strike! Slow down gandhi

  • Real rap.

  • @Dagueam no offense...real rap? try krs1 or rakim. granted that could be categorized as real hip hop.

don't get me wrong dude, sage francis is a genius. check those two out if you're a fan of good music/lyrics.

  • This sounds fucken awesome!!!!

  • this is the best shit,

  • I love this rap, but I like the beat better in the remix with Dashboard Confessional.

  • now its whistle blower verses the pistol holder case dismissed they'll lock you up and throw away the key witness

  • btw this is ky not brian (not that anyone knows me)

the truth keeps calling me and ima live to tell the story....

    (sorrrrrrrrrrry)

  • ive had this song stuck in my head all day, its my favorite sage song and probably just my favorite in general.THANK YOU YOUTUBE AND WHOEVER DOWNLOADED THIS!!thats the reason for the high horse.i dont care how half naked or fake she looks she smells like dirty cash and aged paperbooks, who would she die for?give me ethnicity or give me dreads.when the cameras start rolling stay the fuck outta the picture pilgrim.one love one life one too many victims.and it fucks you up good but its not that bad

  • So look for truth, quit seeking forgiveness.

You need to cut the noose, but you don't believe in scissors.

You support the troops by wearing yellow ribbons?

Just bring home my motherfuckin' brothers and sisters.

  • on top of everything amazing about this track already mentioned, he also references 'institutionalized' by suicidal tendencies.

will never get sick of sage.

  • Man, if there were ever a course for Hip-Hop, this song would make it into the fundamental curriculum.

  • cant decide if i like this or the legion of doom mash up more. both are incredible. fucking amazing song nonetheless

  • reasons like this is why i love sage francis. police brutality, war, social awareness, political corruption, and brain washing the youth all in one song.

  • this song taught me you can favourite a song more than once!

  • I love everything about this song *: (:

  • the truth keeps calling me

  • Friendly fire - That's a funny term, like civil war...

  • Man this song is fire. It never ceases to amaze me five years later.

  • "It's the same who complain about the global war, but can't overthrow the local joker that they voted for."

    LOVE THAT LINE!

  • I shit you not I was pistol whippin' cops for hip hop

  • love the intro

  • If you liked this song, you might like the Legion of Doom mash up "Hands Down Gandhi"

  • Such a great song

  • @Cherubic0ne People keep praising it and it's alright but some of Sage's best lines are not well heard because the instrumental of Hands Down is too loud, or they sing over his lines.

  • @Cherubic0ne 1 of the best!

  • @Cherubic0ne I first heard Hands down Ghandi and heard after it Dashboard confessional and now this, its pretty cool

  • @Cherubic0ne I heard that song before I heard this one it's amazing!

  • ALL I WANTED WAS A FUCKING PEPSI

  • just great ...^^ love it

  • Great song - the only thing I disagree with is the GM food stab. The only possibly problem is its effect on the environment; its effect on human beings is positive if anything.

  • i agree. if you want to be technical selective breeding using cuttings is genetic modification.. regardless of how you look at it your 'playing god', and like you say, the benefits outweigh the negetives.

  • very intirestling lyrics, as in all of his songs. 5/5.

  • legion of doom made this song waaaay better...

  • you spelled gandhi wrong

  • "it fucks you up good but its not that bad" that the truth

  • "Friendly fire, that's a funny term, sounds like civil war..." Ever so awesome...

  • he doesnt say 'sounds like..' just like.

  • I like Ghandi... Whatever, it's cool anyway...

  • isnt he a hipocrit though?

  • It did strike me a bit that in the song he becomes a somewhat hippocrit, though with deeper analization, I think he wouldn't be.

  • firstly, its not analization, its analysis, dont pretend to be smart by using big words that dont exist.. lol

and secondly i mean ghandi.. not sage..

  • there is such a word as analization. I think I just got the spelling wrong. Ghandi is not a hypocrit.

  • @AbattoirDream, how are you going to sit there and make fun of them for using a word that doesn't exist when you're doing it too? Last time I checked, it's spelled "Gandhi". Besides, we all knew what they meant when they said "analization", so stop hatin' and just ENJOY THE MUSIC.

  • everyone is a hypocrite. ....this is especially true about hip hop artists since they start poor, get rich, then rap about how shitty the conditions are for the poor...yet they do nothing. haha

  • @shoespeak thats not what the song is about

  • Part of the job mate just pull out the the stuff you like.

  • amazing song.

  • "you gotta cut the noose, but you dont believe in scissors"... awesome

  • ahahahah "all i wanted was a fucking pepsi" made me laugh
