  • What the hell is wrong with you people, We all know of Brians issues, that he is trying to resolve. Why make it so personal. It's a song and a very good one. Iv'e never made a mistake . Right. Other than putting the ' in front e as apposed to the v. Loosen up enjoy the gift of music he gave and his Brother Carl.

  • I first heard this just because I turned the telly over and Brian was on the chanel

I was shocked at what he had become ...until I heard him sing this

    L & M could not do better

  • Thank you Brian.

  • Unfortionately,...............I never heard of "Brian Wilson".

  • I find it sad and ironic that some commenters are attacking each other under a video in which Brian sings so beautifully about love and mercy.

  • If I do get to heaven, this is what I expect to hear upon arrival. Thank you Brian Wilson.

  • Magnificent song. Wonderful sentiment, particularly so at Christmastime. The backing boys; choir on this one is a superelative addition.

  • How can Justin Bieber get here?!

  • Orange County great movie, Music on MTV, Great music, Great times!!!!!!

  • He is almost like a child.

  • I'm here cause of orange county xD

  • Orange county!

  • Che noia!

  • Such a beautiful song and I adore this clip, thank you kindly for posting.

  • Thumbs up if this song reminds you of Reach Out(and Touch Somebody's Hand) by Diane Ross

  • maybe i'll get to tell you personally one day, Brian, but....thank you.

  • Brian is back. Not like when they said he was back in the 70's.

  • @Fooblestheclown no,,,back then i think they meant to say "brian is fat" anyway that was all just spin to give cred to the band ,,(mike no-love.no talent)...its just tragic that he cant play anymore ..like whats going on there ??/in the doco from the mid 90's he could still play well ...then bang he cant . like you dont have to be Tony Banks to play 'love and mercy'.

  • @mugwamp4 ....yes love and mercy is a easy riff to play on keyboard. Similar to Go now, by the Moody blues.

  • @mugwamp4 Well there's always SOMEONE who has penis envy and has to criticize someone else's success. Thanks for letting us know it's you so we can ignore you from now on.

Fact: Brian DOES still play in concert. Maybe not on this clip.

Fact: HIS genius is in composing and arranging complex pieces of music that will last for generations to come. What have YOU done?

This is why Brian Wilson is known the world over and you are simply capable of putting down snide comments on Youtube, you wanker!

  • @BigChiefLtd1 i was simply stating the facts ya fucking moron,,and said its a pity he cant play to concert standard anymore !,,,I love Brian Wilson...he;s one of the great writers/pioneers of pop music .went to see him when he came to Oz @2005,(pet sounds tour) great show ,,but anyone other than the visually and or mentally impaired can clearly see he plays only rudimentary snippets of 2 or 3 songs ,,FACT!!,,now do I have to explain who Tony Banks is....IDIOT!!

  • @mugwamp4 Listen, you SHIT FOR BRAINS. I've BEEN ON STAGE with Brian when he's played. Frankly, I don't care if plays as much as he once did... that's why he's got the best support musicians in the world. But it still takes him to arrange and control what and how they play in order to produce the sound he gets from them. What the fuck: He still accomplishes more with his FARTS than you've ever done in your whole life. There's nothing you can explain to me or anyone so don't flatter yourself.

  • @BigChiefLtd1 so you agree with my past 2 statements ,,thank you !!!.and what did you do on stage??drag cables ..page turner ? or general gopher???

  • @mugwamp4 I did neither of those jobs. But even those jobs would require more intelligence, intellect and maturity than you've shown here. There are those who DO and then there are those like you who can do little more than sit in their mother's basement, masturbating in the dark and making negative comments about those who DO achieve a level of excellence in life just so you can feel good about your own pathetic existence. But there's a song written just for you by the Beatles: I'm A Loser.

  • @BigChiefLtd1 dissappointing that you are first of all so fractious and highly strung (probably anxiety issues borne out of sexual inadequacy)that you reacted in such an hysterical manner to my original considered (and true!!)statement ...and secondly your inability to refute my statement (in fact you simply verified what i wrote)with anything other than the most puerile of retorts .and you're way wrong ,the Beatles wrote some songs for you too ,Fool on the Hill, Help, and Nowhere Man.

  • How this song never charted in the US or UK astounds me.

  • wow all versions are underated noone even notices how great and awesome this song is

  • Great song from Brian and he has such a good voice and is so gifted and talented too. Too bad he could not tour like he wanted to with the band due to his illness and hope he is doing better today. I have a mental illness and Brian proves you can do anything no matter what you have. Love him and this song and his Pet Sounds album. Thanks for posting this great song.

  • if i were brian i wouldn't want to be playing keyboard while singing either. it's a lot harder than you think.

  • So many great different takes on the song. From the eccentric and shimmering production on Brian Wilson, to the more stripped down version on I Just Wasn't Made For These Times and now this loving performance. Such a versatile and beautiful song.

  • "Love and Mercy to you and your friends tonight" Thank you, Brian.

  • I saw him in concert at the Royal Festival Hall, London in 2002 when he performed the Smile album. I was in tears, dream come true seeing this genius perform that album 35 yrs after its creation. It felt so good seeing him in one piece.

  • Great song and a great message for these times.

  • Did anyone watch the 07 Kennedy Center Honors? Diana Ross was rocking out bigtime during Brian's tribute and this was the song that made her cry

  • @Wakipenda So what if he's not playing. He's Brian Wilson. He plays if he feels like it. He doesn't play if he feels like it. It's Brian Wilson.

  • One of the most beautiful, and honest, songs I've ever heard. We are so lucky that Brian Wilson is still around, and touring with such a great band.

  • he's not playing...good simple song though

  • @Wakipenda - it's his song and he's singing it, that's enough for me

  • @Wakipenda He finds sitting behind a keyboard comforting.

  • never a beach boy fan...fine group, just not my thing....but it's a hard mean-spirited soul who remains untouched by this performance, Such genuine love for + from his audience. Who's to say deserves any less. Fair play Wilso.

  • You just have to love Brian Wilson for this song, just wonderful

  • Diana Ross has not forgotten about you Brian

  • Just perfect.

  • Diana Ross's fav Beach Boy

  • Perfect song for the human race.

  • he makes me feel love and mercy...thank you Brian

  • @mixtape24 I don't think so

  • One person doesn't know music. Anyone think of the Movie Orange County with Jack Black hearing this song?

  • Wonderful version of this tremendously important song....more Brian Wilson magic..

  • Great song. Not so great a voice though. I heard Brian never sang live when he was touring with The Beach Boys. He has a great mind. Too bad that douchebag Mike got the voice...

  • so so nice

  • what a great song, it even made me cry. damn you Brian Wilson, lol.

  • If God exists, Brian Wilson is God, what a blessed inspiration, for someone considered as "insane" and mentally "damaged", by ignorant and cruel doctors, Brian Wilson is to music what Van Gogh is for painting and art...

  • So beautiful.

  • Brian may be a great man and a genius but i think its wrong that he listens to his wife Melinda and goes and adopts 4 little children at there age.Brian should be concentrating on his blood children and grandchildren. His wife figures she married him at such a late age and could not have her own kids so go out and adopt 4 for finiancial security.Brian is not a wel man to play DaDA he has auditory halucinations till this day.I say the women he married is a common gold digger.

  • @Desiree50 I agree 100% Sista Brian's a true survivor but that marriage won't last

  • @Desiree50 Blood is thicker than water.

  • @1BlubeTube your right blood is thicker then water but Brians wife is trying to seperate the blood and build a new false family ,5 adopted kids means more trust fund money and less for poor carnie and wendy.the gold digging bitch try to keep his blood kids away from Brian.I wish Carnie and Wendy would grab Brians ear and clue him in.

  • i love the melody!

  • The only problem with Brian Wilson live performances is that he really doesn't seem to enjoy himself very much! It was like when he played Glastonbury a couple of years ago, you almost felt that you were being entertained by your school teacher who happened to have been in a famous band in his youth. "OK - you at the back! Quiet! Heres another of my famous No.1's and then I'll give out your homework....."

  • @StanPomeray That's because he has huge amount of stage fright.

  • @yeoGlover Oh.

  • @StanPomeray Yeah I see exactly what you mean. Well, seeing as how he had anxiety attacks later on in The Beach Boys career, (which is partially the reason they stopped touring) I'm extremely happy to see that he's giving it another go again, and that he's doing such a great thing for his fans

  • is this a dirty christian song or no?

  • You know, some people have something aginst Brian for his mistakes in his life. But I'll tell you what. We are all human and we all make so many mistakes in our life. He is one of the GREATES songwriters and musicians of all time. My highest reguards goes to him.

  • he is a genius......he used a patern also used in "whiter shade of pale" and "Pachelbel's Canon in D"

why always reinventing the wheels.....this guy know how to compose hits!

Sir Elton,Sir Paul,John Lennon and a bunch of legend openly said using Brian Wilson Chords Progression and pattern.....when legend use your work as they do.......it just mean that HE is a legend too!!!!

  • What an absolutely wonderful man.

  • are people leaving at the start!?!?! what is wrong with this world!

  • @westcoastdoldrums Yes i seea resemblance both of them are regular looking guys who are handsome, can sing, and dance i can't believe anyone else can see it or don't see it

  • hero

  • i wonder what movie he was refering to.

  • @bill291212 he made a film with the beach boys and the fatboys around 1988 ... they were in it for a song or two .. he hated the experience

  • Am i the only one that has noticed that Brian Wilson lookslike Justin Bieber maybe they're long lost relatives Justin Bieber is the next Brian Wilson

  • @coolsweetgroovy you have to be joking....

  • @SJI13 No i'm not Look at Justin Bieber and look at footage of Brian from back in the day spot on resemblance. Now we've got a glimpse into Justin Bieber's future Justin Bieber is the next Brian Wilson

  • @coolsweetgroovy

Spot on resemblance? Are you joking me? Brian will never be equaled let alone surpassed. As for Bieber, when his bollocks drop nobody will be buying his records in another 5 years,Brian will be selling them beyond the grave.

  • @coolsweetgroovy Fuck you, don't bring that Bieber shit all up in here.

  • @Wisconsin222 Sorry I just said that I thought that Justin Bieber lookslike Brian Wilson because if you look at Brian back in the day then at Bieber you can see what I mean

  • @coolsweetgroovy you didint have to say your sorry to that asshole cause u said Brian reminded u on Justin Bieber.like he said to u fuck u well fuck him

  • @Desiree50 I agree with you sista thanks for having my back and P.S. do you think Justin Bieber lookslike Brian Wilson?(to me Justin reminds me of him)

  • @Desiree50 FUCK JUSTIN BIEBER he is for the young only or those with no reason to care.

  • Happy Birthday Brian!

  • good song

  • Such a beautiful song with a wonderful message...bless you, Brian. Hope you tour again.

  • Here's who's bring sexy back and it sure isn't Justin Timberlake

  • First time I heard this song it was being performed live by the band Golden Smog... BLEW ME AWAY!! GREAT song!! Didn't realize it was Brian's song. I went out immediately the next day and bought Brian's cd and it renewed my love of all his music! Sure wish he'd come back to Atlanta!!

  • Brian Wilson's opinion of the Beach Boys 50th in 2011: Whoopty Fuckin Do (as he sits down staring at his piano during an interview) No im not working with Mike Love again.

  • @relimes dude did he really say that? :O

  • @ChrisisBass13 actually brian said in an interview that he drank half a bottle of champagne and was is a really great mood when he wrote this, lyrics might make you think different..

  • Brian must have been in an emotional wreck when he wrote this song,

  • @relimes

    No, he was drunk... =)

Look at the link "brian wilson talks about libera and love and mercy".

  • have seen brian wilson in glasgow and edinburgh 5 times over the last 8yrs and even with all the fantastic songs that he has this always stands out.THANKS

  • LOVE THIS SONE,GOSPEL MUSIC TO ME!!!!

  • speechless

  • So beautiful! A great message in this song, definitely.

  • this was written in 1988... that's not ahead of his time.. the beach boys were however

  • do you think teenager like ths song..? yeah im a teen ager but i like this..i know this song cuz libera sang this song..so now im listening to the original artist of this song..and i found out yeah..it realy nice..and the lyrics is 100% good

  • speaking of teenagers, this song was featured along with Lay Down Burden in the movie, Orange County starring Tom Hanks' kid, Colin.

  • the mozart of our time.

  • Haunting....Those melodies stay somewhere deep....

  • Great!!!

  • Pure magic!

  • awesomeness personified...

  • magical song!

  • que grande eres brian,no te mueras nunca

  • One word...WOW !!!!

  • who knows where i can find the music piece for this song?

  • Magic!

  • in a world full of stupidity, evil, senselessness, and shit round every corner, brian wilson restores true love and sanity, it's incredible that people like brian wilson are still alive and still here, brian is so out of place in today's messed up world, and yet at the same time he is right in place and resonates stronger than ever, i hope brian is saved by Yeshua/Jesus, brian is simple and complex at the same time, i love him, love his music, there's just not words, i suppose 'astounding'......

  • if this doesn't send chills up your spine, then something's wrong.....

  • that humongous chorus just blends right in with the song, Wilson is too much

  • He's such a sweet guy.

  • A beautiful message from a beautiful man!

  • Brian had so many deamons to defeat. First the depression then a doctor who gave him everything but what he needed. You can see it in his face ! But one thing they could never take away was his brilliance and he still has it and this is proof positive. One of a kind legend and yes he is a legend !

  • Really like the tune of this song. The Beach Boys are my 3rd favourite band of all-time!

  • The genius of Brian Wilson never left, it's just people still misunderstamd him, he is as gifted today as he was 40 years ago, it's just people are looking for the same stuff as he was doing 40 years ago, That Lucky Old Sun is just as good as SMiLE, just in a different way, people are bound to disagree, but, that's what i think, hw is a very gifted, but misunderstood person
