  • TNN must have been in a real hurry to show some country music videos, because they never showed a replay of the Chad Little wreck. We got to see the start of it, Gordon crossing the line, then the end of it.

Thanks for sharing! This was going to be one of my next race "reviews", but I may just go ahead and do mine for fun, anyway.

  • "again...and again....and again....and again....and again." LOL!

  • wasnt this postponed to october because of wild fires

  • yes it was

  • Yep...it was run in mid-October

  • I wish the lowline rule was gone, the racing was awesome with ppl flying to the apron

  • yeah, I know! At the '09 Daytona 500, Dale Earnhardt Jr. apparently forgot about that rule. I really think racing would be more exciting if that rule was eliminated. I don't see the difference at daytona compared to other tracks that are allowed to go below

  • he did'nt really forget he was kinda pushed down by accident vickers did nothing wrong he just made a legal block but NO MORE APRON RULE

  • "fucking gloged up" LOL

  • TNN is the sister to TNT

  • No it isnt. TNT is owned by Turner, and TNN was owned by CBS

  • then TNN became Viacom owned in the CBS-Viacom merger, became known as Spike TV because too many people got confused with the two networks. then Viacom was spun off and took most of the cable channels they own post spin off.

  • "43 started, 42... OH CRASH" lol ironic

  • Involved in 1st crash (10 cars): 7- Geoff Bodine 11- Brett Bodine 13- ? 16- Kevin Lepage 21- Michael Waltrip 25- Wally Dallenbach 26- Johnny Benson 46- Jeff Green 55- Hut Stricklin 98- Rich Bickle
  • Edit: 13- Ted Musgrave, and Dallenbach was in 50 obv., I forgot.

  • who was stricklin driving for?

  • Andy Petree Racing I believe.

  • ok that would make sense because it looks like he is driving and oakwood homes sponsored car, and that was Petree's busch sponsor at that time. thanks!

  • did anyone notice that in the flashback wreck, Earnhardts wreck kinda looks liike his last

  • i noticed that too....kind of creepy

  • first crash was the big one

  • Dan Purdus was in this race

  • I remember this race. Earnhardt wouldv'e won this if fricken Bobby Labonte's crew didn't leave a tire out at the exit of Earnhardt's pit that heavily damaged the nose of his car, where he had to make several stops under caution which cost him track position, and he still came back to finish 10th.

  • Do you have the Kevin Lepage crash

  • ugh Again...and again...and again...and again...and again... for Steve Park

  • Chad Little was moving around

  • kenny irwin was in that wreck at 3:08

  • Steve Park was in the wreck

  • i actually liked TNN's race coverage...ugly hit there for the 97

  • ugly hit there for the 16 & 97

  • wow gordon's 40th win, and 11th of the season!!!!!!!!!! i miss these times lol

  • its the big one we all been wating for i was at thta race 15th race

  • Again...and again...and again...and again...and again...

  • Chad Little was the last driver to race the Ford Thunderbird (which was legle in 1998) , but wrecked it as you can see.

  • Don't forget Jimmy Spencer also raced a Thunderbird too. (4:09)

  • But he wrecked out

  • This is one of my taped races

  • Love this video!

  • 3:03 was eriely like the '01 500

  • holy crap ur right....

  • I just recently re-watched the clip, and it seems that the car lost speed before it hit the wall; that's why the crash was not fatal (in the clip).

  • yeah it does look like it

  • 1:32 Dick Berrgeran?

  • yup, it's him

  • ha ha Park was cleaning up the oil from his own crash! lol

  • I can't tell if your joking or not about that.

  • Incidentally enough, his car was sponsored by Pennzoil...

  • Thatrace was in October 1998 because of blazing wildfires in July when it was originally schedualed. Go #24 Jeff Gordon!

  • I was six at this time and the 1998-99 seasons were the two that hooked me too NASCAR. But I remember watching this race and I was just dazzled by the lights and the cars running around Daytona at those speeds under the lights. And the TNN crew with Eli Gold, Buddy Baker, Dick Berrgern....who I belived relpaced Glenn Jarrett for that race brings back memories.

  • Me too. Then I started taping races. I was 6 and it was late 1998-early 1999 when I really got into it big time.

  • Do you have the chad little crash?

  • It's at the end of the video

  • You should thank the capper and the TBK user who posted this, unless it was you. Good vid. I haven't seen this one in a while.

  • Pepsi 400 will return to cable in 2007 on TNT

  • That race was in October, not July, due to being postponed due to wildfires. It was supposed to be on CBS (first race on prime time).

  • hey, it was, wasn't it

    I forgot

  • Yeah I remember how the haulers were already there when they announced the postponement so they had to go right back to NC.

  • Does anyone else think its weird to hear Dick Bergreen doing color commentating?

  • yeah,i do

  • It may be a rarity, but Dick is not too bad of a color commentator.

  • I think it is.

  • It's not weird for me since I have watched NASCAR since TNN was broadcasting races.

  • @Ruddfan1997 Surprisingly no, because with him on TBS and TNN, I became used to it. Buddy Baker is weirder, he talks with marbles in his mouth and words come out as if Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force was announcing a Winston Cup race!
