@gmcbigrig79 yeah there basicly the same. but check out the new video im putting up now on the 67 72 pu i cut it up even more and when i can find some time i also have a chevy blazer i really cut into
hi dave im gonna be doing a 71 gmc this spring and was wondering what is the best thing to deal with lite rust the rust mort or weld primer and whats best for chassis treatment chassis saver or por i live in maine so rust is always a concern would bed liner work good for inside cab and under neath let me know what you think i trust your opinion thanks man
really if you have the time use metal cleaner first give alot of time to dry then use the best rust converter you can. por 15 is really good but rust mort is a good price then give alot of time to dry then grind off where you need to rust spray those areas with weld thur primer and shoot a top coat inside and out after your done welding up. as for the frame same basic thing clean the best you can then metal clean dry por 15 or rust mort and top coat. if you can afford it sandblast
hey mate, aren't you supposed to use a weld through primer where you take the paint off to weld? otherwise you'll have bare metal just waiting to rust on the inside of the panel. back to square 1??
not having a go, your work is awesome and I am only learning. (hence watching your videos).
weld through primer would have been a good idea also, i painted the area and only grind away a small amount, normally i shoot left over primer, paint and undercoating into the hole at the front in later stages of building. thanks for watching if you have any other questions please feel free to let me know thanks dave
how come you use a grinder to cut out your metal pieces at 6;30 opposed to a plasma cutter? right now im workin on an 87 k5 blazer and its gonna need a new rocker pannel, some metal work above the back left fender well where its rusted through and a spot on the floor very similar to your front left hole
@ih806 couple of different reasons. i try to do the videos with simple tools anybody can get and use cheep grinder is 20.bucks at habor frieght a plasma cutter is grand or two. the rocker panel has sheet metal underneath and the plasma might cut through causing more work the grinder is easier to control. also the plasma cutter leaves a melted edge that does not weld well unless you grind it down more causing more work than saving plus i don't have one
Pure awesomeness
