My Xbox is 3 Years old today, and It is very quiet, I have just got the 2 red lights, and the Xbox is VERY well ventilated. and I think the Fan's are starting to fail, Would you say that this is a good fan that I could use to replace the factory fans? I'm not bothered about the noise, as long as the fan does it's job.

in 5v mode they still utilize the normal fan power supply, so yes they will adjust as the unit becomes hotter.

It's no secret that the 360 has hardware design flaws. Some of us prefer the games and online experience that the 360 offers. So sure if you want reliability of hardware but a much lower quality gaming experience, go PS3.

mine lasted 4 years before it went RROD, did the Xclamp fix and it lasted another year... now it's RROD again... dammit... ordering the 2nd gen GPU heatsink and adding an intake fan... guess maybe I should do a Talismoon fan too, I just don't want to spen $26 on a damn fan.. they're a little overpriced...

UPDATE: During routine maintanance of my xbox(dusting out and cleaning)...the NITRO switch on my Talismoon fans BROKE!! So I had to cut and splice wires to bypass the switch. Now the fans only run at 12v...but honestly I never used 5v mode anyway and the switch was just a hassle in my opinion.

Also I'm sorry about the background music and the volume of my voice being too low in this video...it was my first video so I didn't really know what I was doing.

My xbox is fine and dandy. Actually, the heating from this console is the only thing that hasn't gone wrong with it really. I've had to replace the DVD drive. And I went ahead and upgraded my GPU heatsink and replaced the old worn out thermal paste with Artic Silver 5, and replaced the xclamps with bolts and washers. The system is still running strong. My goal was to make a bomb proof 360.I do repairs on xbox's and can help anyone with any questions. Just let me know.

For the 12 volts mod for the original 360 fan people say you have to install a special firmware to not get banned from xbox live (becouse of some hardware checks they do when you log in).

Is there a risk of geting banned for this hardware modification (its just a replace... but its still a change)? Is you xbox firware or chip modded or some thing like this? Or just as mine it was factory sealed and you just opened to instal the Fans and nothing more?

Just open and install...no firmware or modding needed...many people enjoy these fans with no reports that I've seen of people getting banned. There is lots of 12v power going to the xbox...the only thing they could possible detect is the different amount of current it's drawing, which can't be verified as a "hack" because the xbox has USB ports which USB components will draw more current from the 360 as well. Don't believe the paranoia.

No it does not, but the whisper max fan kit comes with an adapter for either version of the xbox you may have. There will be no surprises when your assembling it.
