It is difficult to tell exactly what happened in the first Christian groups, especially within the lifetime of Jesus. He is using critical/historical methods of reading the text, for one thing there is little to no contemporaneous corroboration on which to check facts, which scholars usually rely on. There are no surviving texts from the original group...

It is difficult to tell exactly what happened in the first Christian groups, especially within the lifetime of Jesus.
