  • I love my church! You never know what Pastor is gonna do next! :)

  • BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! AMEN!

  • All those who would call modern worship music "too close to the world", I wonder how close to the "world" the music of the Hebrews sounded. My guess would be that is sounded exactly like the music of the day.

  • The thing I always seem to notice is that the "Apostolic" music that we love so much has, at its roots, blues, rock, and african rhythms and melodies. ALL music borrows its sounds from other places. So before anointing the music you LIKE, and disregarding the music you DON'T like think about where YOUR music came from in the first place.

  • why are the black folk jumping up and down they know how to dance

  • Oh this is just awesome!!

  • Anyone have music for this?

  • Apparently you misunderstand. I LOVED this music. What I cannot tolerate is the "new" praise and worship and contemporary styles that people like Jonathan Dean and others are doing.I am in full agreement with what you said about worship.

  • Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and the Church of God in Christ all day! She would be so proud to know her ministry reached the masses! Thank God for the Holy Ghost!

  • @sensibleadult in the bible it says go to the highways and hedges and that's what new music does. People who are used to Metallica or Tupac find God through Disciple and Kj-52. Because music is going to where they are and witnesses. And you ask why we need music? Because the bible tells us to praise him with the high sounding cymbals. Read psalms 150.

  • @acousticdoug Doug, I love you, son, but you have no clue. I went to Disciple- The Wait Is Over. If that is Christian, I'm Santa Claus. Anyone who is attracted to that garbage is so far from Christian, it's not even funny. A good thing to remember is, If it looks and sounds evil, it's not of God. No question, no exceptions.

  • The Bible reads that David danced before the Lord with all his heart and soul... and if you are not feeling the anoiting on this viedo.. Perhaps its user error.. and has nothing to with the choir singing it. I believe the Bible also went on to read that if man did not praise and worship God the rock and the moutains would cry out to him. Keep it up Alexandria It truly blesses me . God is Great.. and Greatly to be praised.

  • Taking*

  • @sensibleadult this music was raking cues from another worldly genre as well. Look at it this way throughout history the evolution has flown the same. In fact rock music came from blues which came from gospel. What I'm trying to say is worldly music and religious music is in a constant rotation. Anointing is in the words in the power not in the genre or chord progressions. If you don't believe a rock song that says Christ is the solid rock or how he's our sweet redeemer is not as anointed asan

  • @acousticdoug OK, Doug, if the anointing is in the words, then why do we even need the music? Anyway, one of my main disappointments is that the majority of music directors I have seen always push the music as far toward the world as they can. Hardly any of them take it the other way, in the direction of holiness. And POA, in particular, always seems to have a minister of music who is just a whisker away from being gay, or secular, or downright worldly. Why? Coincidence?

  • @sensibleadult I do love this old music but mind you psalms says sing a new song. How would you feel if we never even got there. A couple hundred years ago even this would be considered devil music. How would you like it if everyone was still in the days of Bach or worse gregorian chants. Music evolves and changes. No we shouldn't stop with the old but we should never quit writing new.

  • @acousticdoug "sing a new song" is not talking about taking your cues from the Hollywood entertainment and hip-hop industry, and cheapening the gospel by setting it to music designed to appeal strictly to the flesh. There is a definite clash between the anointed music of old and the trash we are getting now. The new music is popular with people who are comfortable with worldly styles of dress, funky hairdos, and pop culture in general.

  • seems that once your finally comin back up the mountian from the vally, you get a blessin, and find yourself back down in the vally. lol.

Like my pastor Bro.Griffen said; your eather goin into a trial, in the middle of one, or comin out of one! :)

  • I literally wept while watching this. When I think that we have forsaken this type of anointed singing in favor of the new hip-hop rock contemporary so- called praise and worship junk, I fear for the future of the Pentecostal church.

  • Climbing up the mountain trying to reach the top. Almost finished my battle, Gone have way and I just can't.At the end of the mountain there if faith and trust. I can see Jesus standing there to greet us. On we go. I'm reaching for my self.

  • Climbing up the mountain trying to reach the top almost finished my journey I've gone half way and I just can't stop At the end of the mountain there is faith and trust I can see Jesus Standing there to meet us I thank God, I've got to reach it for myself. There are parts that the choir breaks into Tenor: climbing, climbing up the mountain (repeat) Soprano/Alto: climbing up the mountain, trying to reach the top.......
  • I believe I may have had to mess up my nice suit and tie, and tussle my hair about a little bit before this song was over! Ya'll go on an' shout!

  • gloria a DIOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i thank GOD that i almost reached the top

  • aleluya!!!!! very nice!!!! esta muy bonito

  • I thank God for the apostolics. I have to go to a real Pentecostal church like this for this kind of joy filled worship. Unfortunately, there is a stiffling of the Spirit at my church. I pray for revival, so we can worship God with the freedom He has given us.

  • @fxnhrts where are you at

  • @poneyfeathers i live in southeast florida

  • If that service don't make ya wanna go to heaven!!!!!!!GLORY!!!!!!!

  • awesome! love improv!

  • This has a certain "ring" The sound of truth sung by those that are "sealed" Song writing is a gift given without repentance. But, even a song can be renewed and when Jesus name, Spirit filled people get done with it, there is a TRANSFORMATION!!!!

  • @jeb2cmb Where have you been? The Assemblies of God (of which I'm a member) is the largest pentecostal church in the world. The COGIC is also a large (predominantly black) pentecostal denomination. Both are trinitarian. Regardless, UPC plays some good music.

  • Just in case you didn't know, the Assemblies of God came of the COGIC.

  • @hammondman94 Thank you for posting this comment. People need to know the truth about history.

  • I can't sit still watching this. I love the sign

"those of you looking at this screen you outta be shouting"

Love it because that is what I want to do right now.

  • i can see JESUS standing there to meet me!!!!!

  • this song was birthed by a trinitarian pentecostal church woman by the name of Sister Mattie Moss Clark who was the national minister of music of the Church Of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) i love this song so much. im glad to see that it aint just black churches singing it! HALLELUJA!

  • @organplayerboy ive never heard of trinitarian pentecostal church

  • Oh, brother! Even brand new churches being birthed are still singing this one. I can remember quite a few times, before this song was about half over--one of the mothers of the church would cut out a running, and bar up the door cause there was going to be some shoutin' that night!

  • this song brings back great memories from the 70's

  • Thanks so much for sharing this! I listen to it about twice a week to lift my spirits, and it always comes through!!

    God is good!

  • Felling better after hearing this & enjoying the worship!!!!! Thanks POA & Pastor Mangum.

  • I love the UPCI!!!!

  • You gotta praise all time??... Help me with the lyrics plz....

  • You oughta praise some time

    You oughta sing some time

    You oughta shout some itme

  • Its 'You oughta pray some time'

  • This is wonderful.love it.love these people

feel like they are my family.haven't met

them in person yet.look forward to the

day I get to be in one of these services.

SOOO glad to be apostolic.bless ya'll

    Brother Mangun.

  • I love it... this is our theme song, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark made it... let us keep on climbing

  • I love this song It is so POWERFUL!!!! WOWOW HALLELUJA

  • this made me smile :)

  • This is a fun jumping shouting danceing hand claping holy ghost service. Nothing like the holy ghost. None compare to JESUS.

  • YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

  • Couldn't sleep tongight, so got on YouTube to see if I could find something to jump start my morning. Gotta say, cause I'm not ashamed, I had to put the laptop down and shout around the basemnt just a little bit. God is Good! So glad we're nearer the top of the mountain!

  • Great song! It may be old, but to us young people it's new. I'm lovin' it! Praise the Lord!

  • This song was composed by the great Church of God in Christ musician, Mattie Moss Clark, of Detroit. Type in "Climbing Up the Mountain" and Mattie Moss Clark to get a taste of the original.

  • is tht song old or new

  • old well im 46 and we sang this when i was like 16. so 30 yr's . i guess it's a new song =) LOL God BlessÜ

  • this song sound like it might be old song

  • Oh.... I'm 31 years old, and I approve this message.

  • AMEN FROM ME DUDE!

  • I've already posted, on another song's page, that I can hardly stand the newer songs. A friend of mine calls them 7-11 songs: the same 7 words 11 times. They are extremely shallow. If you read the Psalms, a more Biblical standard for songs of praise, they are not shallow and simple as today's 7-11 songs. Why we took out the hymnals and put up the big screens is beyond me.

  • these younger folks might think those old songs are new. I like to sing song thats lets me feel the Holy Ghost. Most of these singers didnt even know this song. Take some of this new stuff they are singing and put the old back in there they would never know the difference. but their Spirit will I gaurantee!!!

  • I definately agree with you, I myself am only 18, but my mom is a music minster and ever since I was little she has taught me about all sorts of different types of music and growing up in church all my life I know about all these older songs and there really is a difference in the songs and what they say. My worship doesnt stop because of the song thats playin or not playing, however what the song says goes a long way towards enticing the spirit that is within us to give more or less.

  • out of all the views i think i have this about 1000 haha

  • I like this song

    I like the preacher he's funny =)

  • Fantastic !!!

  • good singing i hope that god is there.

  • what are the lyrics to this song? its a fun song.

  • Climbing up the mountain trying to reach the top almost finished my journey I've gone half way and I just can't stop I thank God, I've got to reach it for myself. At the end of the mountain there is faith and trust I can see Jesus Standing there to meet us I thank God, I've got to reach it for myself. • This is a perfect example of how anointed songs can cross barriers! This video really blessed me.

  • LOL I iove POA, and I love this song being from detroit best of all I love JESUS

  • I had not heard this song in years! I wish more of our pentecostal churches would add in more of these traditional spirituals. These songs were birthed in the revival flames of Pentecost!

  • What an awesome song. I had never heard that song before. God is such an awesome God!

  • I love this song and the anointing of the fellowship.

  • They always have church like this.....These were the ones that let me know that white folks know how to have church too!!!!!!

  • It doesn't matter who wrote it and what church is singing it...the whole idea is to glorify God and to worship Him. I'm glad to see POA singing some of the older songs cause I remember growing up and seeing the church shouting to these songs..PTL

  • Oh my. I can't help but cry. You can't replace this kind of music and worship. It's RETRO and OLD PATHS, OLD CHURCH. We white folks learned it from Sis Mattie Moss Clark !

  • I thought all the comments were preyty good until you had to go and mess it up. But since you went there, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, Church of God in Christ, United Pentecostal, Apostolics surely will not save you. No denomination will... only Jesus!!! ur noting that Dr. Clark wrote this song is our way being proud of our COGIC heritage and also proud to see all of our brothers and sisters are climbing up the mountain TOGETHER!!

  • what iz yo prob?

  • I have no problem. I sense the spirit of hostility.

  • yess and an extra helping of PRIDE My Friend.. pray about it before you come on here belittling the pentecostal chrurch. ok I'd greatly appreciate it =) PRAISE GOD 4 HE"S SOO WORTHY AMEN!!

  • Is that what you call it? I didn't belittle anything. Isn't all our goal is to lift Jesus and not any particular denomination? Yes I am proud of my COGIC heritage and also proud of my Baptist upbringing but I have sense enough to know that no denomination will save me, only Jesus. Now for the record, I spent a lot of time at POA.They helped me greatly in walk and in my ministry. So how did you get I was belittling the Pentecostal Church? By the way Holy Ghost filled people dont get hostile!

  • Ahem..carnal ones do!

  • hammond, can't we just all get along. LOL!

  • LOL.....Holy Ghost filled people get along!!!!

  • Brought to you by "The willful ignorant association of the World"

Dr.Mattie Moss Clark the Author of this song is yet being heard even as she is with the Lord. I was having trouble at the time I saw this and it was as God was talking through Dr Clark to me. Thank God for a mountain to Climb I'm almost there in Jesus name I'll keep moving up!

  • i felt da same way man

  • There's something in this song that "I Am A Friend of God" could never measure up to.

  • i think us black people need to get learn how to get loose and praise God like these people....these people are on fire and dont care who see them act a fool these people JUMP AND RUN AND DANCE AND SHOUT and ooohhhh God thank you Jesus

  • This is trully AWESOME!! I love the new stuff, but I don't think it compares to this. I'm climbing up the mountain too!!!

  • An ole Church of God in Christ standard.. we are Pentecostal too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I bet Dr. Mattie Moss Clark is smiling in heaven just to see that her work lives on. Every song writer especially the gospel writer wants to touch people with their music and Dr. MMC has certaintly done that as evident that her music crossed color lines, praise God for her musical legacy. I hope her daughters see this. Check out the original verison performed by the compose its here on youtube.
