  • does getting epidual hurt???????????????

  • it doesnt hurt because of the first needle.

  • I'm not pregnant, but I look forward yo having a baby in my mid to late 20's. I'm not a fan of needles, but I think I'd rather have an epidural than a natural. Can anyone explain to me what a water birth is?

  • when your in labour you dont care you imbrace it and it dosent hurt

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looking forward to doing this in the future...as an anesthesiologist :)....I personally could not handle a needle being shoved into my spine.

  • Wow.. I hate when I get shots in my arm... How am I going to get an epideral in my back... Ooh no y did I get pregnant!

  • im so happy that i dodnt watch this video before i gave birth :D

    it looks soooooo scary.

Yea, i must say, it helped me alot.. and when a doctor recommendes to use it i'd say- go for it ! :)

  • damn i prefer to die!!! :O im soooo scared!!

  • holy shit i dont think i should have seen this now when they give me the epidural ima remember what they do..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No thanks, rather have the pain than being a wimp.I hate needles.

  • Wow I can't believe I had 3 of those.Iam not having more children.I can't believe they put that in my back & never knew it

  • OMG I guess this is nothing compared to the labour pains!!

  • OMG I HATE NEEDLES AND I HAVE TO GET THIS DONE IN OCTOBER AHHHH!!!!!!

  • OMG, I shouldn't have watched this.... I have to give birth in about three weeks...

  • @Linnas79 hahaha

  • hmmm....ouch! And I wanted that? LOL

  • omg now im terrified

  • heiauf der suche nach jemanden der mich von meiner andauernden einsamkeit erlösen kann

  • its like stabbing you with a needle lol

  • I dont look forward to giving labor... :(

  • what is it???

  • OUCH OUCH OUCH! And I had this done... WOW.. I think I should have NOT watched this right before I am due to have a baby... OMG!!!

  • So maybe I don't want to have kids anymore.

    uh

  • omg ..... omg.......this is not somthing you want to watch before your due date..........i could not go past 30 sec of watching this

  • damn it. looks more extreme than base jumping!

  • i gave birth to 3 kids. naturally hurt but well worth it

  • ANd DO yourself a favor, dont watch stuff like this!!!

  • If you think this is bad, TRY to imagine a small watermelon coming through your vagina. This is a cake walk in comparision believe it or not, the epidural is WAY WORTH the 5-10 o misery, compared to feeling hours and hours of the worst pain imaginable.

Ive had a baby natural and with epidural...OPT FOR EPIDURAL PLEASE!

  • wow, i do believe i will go to the other room when my girl has this one done....... i would freak

  • My husband was freaking out when I got this done, now I know why! lol. It didn't hurt. It was uncomfortable, but it was not painful. And compared to my first experience without pain meds, I would do this again ANY DAY!

  • I'm due in March and just by watching it, there is no WAY I want one. I'll take the pain shots. I'm just afraid that I will move once I felt it going in. No thank you...

  • I am due in March too! I think this guy was stupid i haven't seen it done like that before!

  • Stupid in what way? Because he had to redirect the needle? That's usually what you have to do. Rarely does it go straight in.

  • I can't wait to have kids and im great with needels but fuck that one I will just take gas and air and the pain

  • omg i almost passed out. im 22 and terrfied to have a baby becuase of things like this.

  • Don't be afraid of an epidural, it ends the pain. The problem is that you are watching something that usually only the Dr. sees. I had 3 children and 2 epidurals, I prefer to have an epidural any day. The pain you suffer is only temporary, you end up with a child for life. People think the hard part is labor/delivery. It is the raising them and even when they are adults you still have them in your life. Don't watch so many birth scenes, everyone is different.

  • Thanks. Everyone tells me the same thing and i'd love to have a child one day but blood and needles are all i need to pass out. I think i could handle the physical pain and even the raising of the child, but its still scary.

  • ahhhhhh

  • Shit....I"ve had this done twice and I swear if I would have seen a video like this for it I wouldnt have had it at all....LOL. I HATED the thought of it for both kids but labor became to intense towards the end.

I have been thinking about having another baby but after actually seeing this....I dont think I can....LOL!!!! Makes my stomach queezy just watching this!!!

  • The first needle contains a local anesthetic to numb you for the actual epidural.

  • OMG you just made me so scared I"m 34 wks in and I just wanna know what it feels like.

  • You lay on your side in a fetal position and it is over in a minute, with sweet relief.

  • i hate needle :S

  • god damn that looks painful, but not as painful as it looks w/o drugs... seems like a loose loose situation lol. makes me think of never having kids (but im a soph in highshool so i still have time :D)

  • First he says he is introducing the aneasthesia, but digs the needle even deeper, and then takes it out and jams another one in there.....by this time you have felt all that....why don't they give the aneasthetic FIRST, then when you are all numbe they can do all that digging and probing?!? I am freaking petrified, don't know if I can go through it...I guess I'll be adopting?

  • Instructive.

  • I had the worst experience with my epidural for my first son. First off, they had to place it 3 separate times. But the needle going in only felt like a slight bee sting.

What bothered me the most was when they were injecting the meds. It felt like when you hit your funny bone in your arm, except all up and down my spine.

Not to mention after they finally got it placed they never turned the 'drip' on and when they finally did only the right side of my body was affected.

  • best thing ever,i was really scared of having this done but it was fab. i advise people to get high off gas and air first before having this done, cos your not as scared that way...you don't even think about the procedure cos you will be too high of the gas and air haha

  • i am pregnant with my fourth child and i am not getting an epidural with this one!! with all my other children it either didnt work or my labor progressed too quickly for it to take effect! so three children so far no numbness and i can do it again piece of cake!!!

  • it seriously doesnt hurt bad.

  • im due in a week & it looks painful but . . im still getting one

& those of you saying you wont get one . . yeah okay . . you will get one because thats how much pain you will be in . .so dont play yourself

  • omg..i almost fainted just trying to watch this..im 7 months pregnant and i need to know..does it hurt to get an epidural..i mean, the patient looks comfy and all but shit, that needle is big as hell!!..im also scared of contractions and all that..ahh!!!

  • About 10% of all women will develop back pain during or around delivery whether they get an epidural or not.

Epidural anesthesia may cause some local tenderness where the needle went in that can last for about a week. It does not, however, increase your chance of experiencing back pain.

  • I told myself i would never ever get one no matter what, but holy SHIT did contractions hurt. You'll never truly undertsnad how painful it is going into labor if u never have. The worst part of the epidural is that little needle at the beggining. It feels like a bee sting, but quickly goes away as quickly as it came. Then you just feel a "pooping" sensation when he puts the big needle through. After i had the epidurl - i actually could sleep , and i laughed when i was giving birth.

  • lol, i said "pooping" i meant "popping" :-))

  • thats awsome.. i hope in the future it will be as easy for u as it was for me.. during an after the epidural of course.

  • this is hard to watch

  • one of my clsoe friends is paralyzed from an epidural. will NEVER get one. i'll bear through it.

  • OMG ARE U SEROUS!!!?? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!?? did she move?? maybe she moved when she wasnt supposed to.. sorry for all the questions im just concerend :(

  • Few critical observations.:

    1. You should not give a "test dose" through the epidural needle. Insert the catheter first, The test dose is for the proper placement of the catheter not the needle.

    2. You should not rotate the needle 90 degrees once you are in the epidural space. That is setting up yourself for dural puncture or subdural injection.

  • It looks well painfull i dont think i would want that done to me!

  • when they put the medicine in, thats the part that fuckin hurts. when you get a local anastetic when you get a c-section you can't even really feel all that shit goin on cuz the needle is a billion times smaller.

    ow.

  • It dose not hurt at first but in a few hours that will change., I just got home from having it done. for now I can bairly move my legs. In a few hours my back will feel like I was hit with a bat. This is my 4th one in the past year.

  • OMG!!! I even can't watch it :( I'm sure it hurts like a hell !!! I will never let doctors do this to me. It doesn't matter for me what is going to happen if it will be necessary and I won't agree. There's nothing worse than die from pain.

  • You should realize that the whole point of having an epidural anesthetic is to prevent pain. This really doesn't hurt to have done. It feels like a bee sting when you get the numbing injection and that's it.

  • That shit looks like it hurts like hell.

  • It looks terrifying.

  • honestly its like hes taking his sweet ass time putting that needle in soo slow i wanna throw upp..but i will most likelyy be getting thiss shot.. i cant deal with pain

  • i dont know if to take it or not! ANY ADVICE?? can some one who has had experience tell me if it hurts???

  • yes it hurts but contractions hurt worse.

    get it.

    lol

  • im 30 weeks pregnant and i am saying no effing way to epidural.

  • sometimes it doesn't work. The doctor tried putting this in my back whilst I was in labor..... the doctor nearly took out my spine! Thats what it felt like. So I got loads of pain( the epidural was worse than labor) and never ended up with a full epidural. Epidural..... not always the answer, I got on better with just euphoria and knowing it won't be long before I have my child.

Don't get me wrong, labor hurts... a lot!!!!!! but "pain relief" sometimes only makes things worse.

  • what your saying is true. For my second baby i had an Epidural and i believe that it only made my labor worse my contractions felt much stronger to the point where i was screaming..

  • omg this made me wanna throw up!

im due in about 2 weeks

i dont know to use it or not?

  • does it really take the freakin long???

  • I'm going to get one of these when I have knee surg. Good idea, bad idea?

  • i had this while awake durring knee surg, i would reccomend it, i never felt a thing , my knee is grand and my op was ten yrs ago, gd luck

  • I'd take this over natural child birth any day! :p

  • All I can say is...NO!!

  • OMG i'd rather die in pains than do that shit!!!

  • omfg i am NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER getting one of these, r u kidding me. i bet its super painful

  • yea but pushing is gonna hurt ALOT more without it

  • me neither! and u can 4get about me giving birth 2 a child, hehe!

  • I had my baby girl, a few weeks ago, I had one of these. By the time the contractions hit, I didn't even care about the needle. Seriously I didn't feel anything when they injected me with it.

  • i just had my babygirl 4 days ago got an epidural it really didnt hurt i was SO SCARED and it wasnt even that bad as soon as she stick the needle in my back the numbing effect started but it works diffrent for everyone the only bad but stranely cool thing was when i was giving birth i had th literally hold my legs up cause i was paralized from the waste down but honestly dont worry about the needle

  • This is SOOO not worth the back pain that you have later in life.....TRUST ME

  • a mi tambien me la pusieron y duele bastante y viendo el video me parece peor ahora

  • that shit hurt like hell,i still have back pains from it,,im never having anymore kids.

  • holy hell, I have of course had an epidural, but watching this it's pretty flippin scary looking. I will say though that I will have one again, and when your in that much pain, this isn't anyhting!

  • good to know the fear of the needle is worse than the needle itself

  • Don't let these ppl tell u it doesn't hurt.....IT DOES! You can feel the needle going in and you CAN feel the doctor threading the line through. It tingles all over your body and feels like a toothache in your back........and you have MAJOR BACK PAIN LATER

  • Honestly it does look A LOT worse than it is.... all of you that are freaking out, dont let it scare you, you can chill I promise..lol They numb you with a little shot before they do it anyway... Thats just a little needle going in your back compared to a BIG baby coming out of your ta ta.. which would you rather feel? lol Seriouly, I loved it and I'll definately be getting another one. You honestly dont feel it once they numb you I promise. ;)

  • yeah ur right...i wud rather get an epidoral then have a baby cumin out of me with no pain relief..i had an epidoral b4 wen i had my son and it didnt hurt wen they did it..but till this day..2 yrz and 4 months later...i still get od baq pains..mind you..lol..im laying down right at this split moment becuz my baq is killing me and im only 19..thats crazy

  • it's not as bad as it looks!! so don't be fooled. it's worth getting.

  • yeah unless you have edema then you get poked 11 times with no result LOL!!

that sucked let me tell ya haha

  • i had an epidural, and it was the best thing i've done. It doesn't hurt. I never felt any

contractions after i had it. and i never felt

my daugher come out at when i was at 10 centmeters dialated, and had to push. it was so awesome. i had the best birth ever. So even thou i've been thou birth and have had a baby, i don't really know what the pain of childbirth feels like... i was compleatly pain free. no pain at all!!!

  • ye epidural sucks.............i felt everything i went out when they cut.....omg suck suck

  • epidurals dont even hurt.. its more of an annoying feeling on ur spine...

  • I had an epidural and they completely messed it up, I had to be sent for an emergengy c-section after pushing for 2 hours and nothing happening, when they cut me open I could feel it even after them topping off my epidural like 6 or 7 times, so they ended up having to put me to sleep. IT SUCKED!

  • Ive had two and even though the second one stopped my bladder working for 2 days, I am still going to have another in 7 weeks when I have my 3rd baby girl. I dont like needles much, but when you get those contractions coming thick and fast, this is a godsend !! Pain gone in seconds and you will get to enjoy the birth of your baby

  • i has one of these but to me it dident feel like it helped me i had to get c-sectiom cuz i dident dialate right

  • Would a sea section be better then just doing natural? I wouldn't care having a few scares.

  • This is disgusting - the procedure. It wasn't even me who got it and it seems like it was 10 minutes long. Sick. It's for a lot of people, just not me. At all. Thank God I'll be having a water birth when I do have kids.

  • I heard they are ment to be dangerous tho? If they go in the wrong place you can be paralised and somthing else about blood clots?

  • ...and then when I was 21 when I had my son before I had him I was on here watching epidural videos and got myself all psyched out and was bawlin my eyes out scared to death but honestly when you are in that much pain the little pinch or weird tingling you feel doesnt even compare to the pain you are in... but if you got an epidural for any other reason other than labor it probably would be much worse...

  • Ha watching this video gives me so many flashbacks...I was 17 when I had my daughter and I refused to watch the epidural video and refused to get it..I am terrified of needles and I let them know it wouldnt be necessary until the labor pains hit then I was like I WANT IT I DONT CARE IF IT HURTS and you know it really isnt that bad at all...all you feel is the local they give you before the give you the epidural...

  • i am so glad that i didn't watch this video before i had my epi. i mean, i read all about it... but seeing it actually happen is a lot scarier. whoo!

anyway. to all of the women that are getting one of these and are just watching this to get an idea of what it going on... it is not that bad... you don't even feel any of it (except for the first little bee sting of a shot) and it isworth it! i had my son completely painfree with an epidural and i would recommend it to ANYONE!

    CONGRATS!

    **

  • AHHH!!! I had to get 2 of these for my son (the first fell out) ...then I ended up with a Spinal (basically the same thing)...omg...AHHH!!! just keep ur head down and don't MOVE. LOL

It' doesn't hurt that bad. Just breath and it's over soon.

  • ...While birth is a beautiful thing and I praise all you women who birthed your baby..

    ...Uh...

I'm gonna adopt. -coughs.- I'm chickenshit of needles and pain makes me toss my cookies. :D; (Go moms! Man, I seriously owe mine big time. Apparently I took a crap in her while she was giving birth.)

  • im going to have a baby in less than a month. should i get it?

  • hy il tell u i had it 10 years ago when i had my girl and until now i have a lot of back pain u know im taking since 9 years painkillers wich is codain the strongest painkiller if i dont take it il die from the pain and the thing is i cant do anything anymore i cant do long walking or stand longer then 10 minits and even iv got a few friends they have the same like me so my advice DONT DO IT take the birthpain but DONT DO THE EPIDURAL and its up2u good luck with u and ur baby by

  • well i had it and i didnt have a c section i thought it was more painful than the birth but thats prob it took away ALL the pain

  • .....why did I watch this.....I'm only 12 weeks pregnant and already having seconds thoughts about an epidural. I thought an epidural was one long needle and alot a medicine in the needle....I saw 2 different needles being used with medicine in it....is that what an epidural really is??

  • you only get this if you have a c-section... this is dif if you are giving a natural birth

  • thank you

  • I had this and it was no biggie trust me the only quick pain is when the needle goes in so thats a half a second of pain trust me!!

  • And it is soooooo worth that quick little sting.

  • thank you

  • You don't have to have an epidural if you don't want to. There are narcotic opioid analgesics (stadol, nubain, demerol) that are available for pain management. Epidurals are not limited to c-section births as ambermayq stated and they are extremely effective in reducing the pain of labour. In addition to pharmacologic methods, you can also use a birthing ball, water therapy, and relaxation techniques to manage your pain. I'm a nursing student and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

  • i had it done....i had regular child birth no c-section...this is like GOD ehehe...it takes pain away quick..i do it again if i ever go thru child birth

  • I'm due in a few weeks and just watching epidural being used has made me dizzy. Nope not for me if I can help it.just give me gas and air! I'm hoping for a some what peaceful water birth if possible! Thanks for the the video any way!

  • OMG! im due in like 3 weeks.

i wish i wouldnt have watched this.

it looks so painful and scary.

i dont wanna go through with this but i dont wanna feel too much pain.

    ugh.

    this sucks so bad.

  • My suggestion to you would be to relax! :) It's not as bad as it looks and it completely relieves your pain. For other options, see the comments I left above. Those options are not nearly as effective as the epidural though, and if you want to have a pain-free labour, this is the only way to do it. No worries, you'll be just fine.

  • I feel the same way you do. Im 5 months pregnant and Im wondering if everyone who has gotten an epidural gets backaches after? I have seen some comments about this and I am concerned. I wouldn't want any back complications since I want to be a Hair Stylist and want to be on my feet for the most part.

  • i didnt get any pain afterwards,at all...but people are different, i would easily do it again

  • I had an epidural and it didn't do a thing to me.Once they ran the saline IV thru me I drove home (wasn't for childbirth).Next day my spinal fluid began leaking thru the hole in my back. That's the worst pain I have ever experienced.Every time I raised my head it felt like being hit in the head with a hammer, like a migraine x 100.I had to have an emergency blood patch.I am now due in 15 weeks and no way am I having an epidural. Gonna do a water birth rather than have that pain on top of the rest

  • my epidural didnt work when i gave birth. if ur in pain at all let drs kno. my left leg hurt during it. they redid it 3 x b4 finally they left it as is. i had a curvature in my spine & all the pain meds went to my left thigh & down so i felt it all. the birth is worse than the epidural itself. il try again 4 future births. i found out AFTER this is a common problem. i have a few friends that had the same prob, i also have a few friends that it worked 4 & they laughed thru their birth. good luck!

  • omg! Im due in a few months and THIS is my owrst fear so far!It looks soooo painful !!!ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhno fucking way

!!!!I am about to throw up:( now im more freaked out then ever. I know i have to get this ,:(man o man im gonna have nightmares for a while.

  • No need to worry I had this done to me 3 times and they told me they were gonna do it and i didnt even feel it actually and im not good with pain.. Very easy just looks like it hurts alot..

    Hope it helps

    Deb :)

  • i broke my leg when i was 8 and had an epidural lol. cnt remember much but this looks as if it would hurt me

  • 5 months pregnant now and i prolly shouldn't have watched this! My stomach feels hot and bothered now. Good to read the comments that it doesn't hurt as bad as it looks :) we'll see!!

  • I feel the same way I am 5 months preggy too but Im still concerned about the after affect of backaches. I hope this doesn't happen with me.

  • No need to worry! Had this. Didn't feel a thing. My ceasarian on the other hand (waaauwch).

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol

  • It looks painful, but imagine how painful a surgery/child birth would be without it. Ouch.

  • lucky for me i didnt see that before i got it done the first time .watching it i could almost just imagine getting it done agen .i cant stand anyone touching my back since i had it done

  • As you start to feel pain while giving birth you can wait intill it hurts alot. Then tell your doctor to give it to you. You barely feeel the epedural at all. and you give labor without pain,. its brillient!

  • i felt sick watching this.. i can't believe this was done to me TWICE!! it sure doesn't feel as painful as it looks!!

  • Google "Arachnoiditis" Epidurals are dangerous, regardless what they may wish you to think.

  • omg im soo not gunna get he epidurl after watching this ;( looks painful

  • omggggggggggg just watching it made my back tingle and hurt again, i felt it grinding in, i think that was like the worst part of childbirth, but then after a few min, ur in lala land

  • Ouuuuuuuuuuuuch!!! My feet were tingling all over again! Honestly, this was the worst part of childbirth for me. But I guess the c/s would have been worse without it!

  • Is the patient dead or clubbed to death?

  • I Don't Want An Epidural After Watching This!! It Looks So Painful!!

  • im glad that i didnt see this before i had mine or i probally wouldnt have gotten one! im glad that im going all natural this go around! that is a huge needle!!!

  • woooooooo, its painful heard kkkkkk, but i could not feel contraction

  • wow thanx for bringing back painful memories of my c-section birth back in 05'

  • ya,, me too,,,

    lolz

  • me three.......lol.

  • wow im now terrified.

  • oh my fucking jesus..i have to do this in 3 months:(

  • man, i will do this in 3 weeks... my first time for my second pregnancy... im scared but i'd rather do it than go all the way through the pain of labor again..

  • welll i ended up having 2. and neither worked!!! frikin useless!!! it didnt hurt when they did them though...maybe thats just cause i was in so much pain

  • It's great ye will be fine lol I had it for having my lil girl. It's fucking brilliant! =) Good luck to ye both

  • i don't remember mine taking this long or being this scary but the dr was behind me and i was having contractions over and over so.....

  • my doc was poking me 5 times before he got the spot. hurt like hell! then I felt like a buzz in my legwhich means a good thing and i had my twins:)

  • It can hurt a bit for some women, but it is nothing compared to the pain of contractions. It's one or the other. Either you can choose to have it and have a painless birth without complications, in most cases, or you can feel the pain of labor.

  • it's not painful at all...i had a painless delivery and it was really painless.

  • that looks SO SCARY AND PAINFUL am just gonna have a natural child birth thank you

  • does it take that long!!!!!

  • sado

  • IT DOESNT HURT PEOPLE!! I had one with my son and they numb you first..... TRUST ME once you feel the contractions thats cake!! AND ITS SOOOOOOOOOOOO WORTH IT! I actually enjoyed the birth of my son because I felt NOTHING!!! =)

  • Oh yeah... and it doesnt take very long neither.. that dudes going slow if u ask me....

  • Amen to that!! i've had my first baby this year, and i had an epidural, It's so awesome, as i never got to feel the pain of childbirth.

i don't really think i ever want to feel that kind of pain. If i ever do have more babies, well you will know what i will be having lol... Who wants to be in pain?? i sure don't!!

  • Bu "adot" I mean adopt!

  • I'm am going to adot a child!

  • This shit looks painful!!!!!!!!!! I'm scared to death to have a needle put in my arm, so wat makes u think I would them put it in my back!

  • wayy anasına :o :o :o

  • i had an epidural with my daughter and it was fab but man did the birth hurt
