in this leason you can see why we use č and ć, veće/veče. they are two different words. first mean bigger(veće) and second mean evening (veče). even author of this videos have problem with them.

@BarcaLioMessi Večer or veče is actualy a feminine noun so the most correct would be "dobra veče(r)". But the most used is "dobro veče" even if it is grammaticaly incorrect. Some older people would also say "dobar veče(r)". Is it veče or večer. Well in both cases it will be declined as "G. D. večeri, A=N, I. večerju, L. večeri". Of the same type are the nouns kći and kćer (doughter) and mati and mater (mother). It will lack R only in nominative.

It seems as though croatian has relation to russian like dobroe jutro is dobroe utro in russian and dovidenja is dosvidaniya in russian. But with the bosnian war alot of the speakers of serbian and bosnian/croatian will understand each dialect for example serbian will understand croatian and so forth,am i right?

BOG je katolički pozdrav koji se koristi u zapadnom Srijemu i Slavoniji još iz doba bivše države Jugoslavije kao skraćeni oblik pozdrava HVALJEN BOG.

Do promjene tog pozdrava dolazi kada mnogi mrzitelji svega hrvatskog i bezbošci polagano pretvaraju BOG u bok (inače kad me pozdrave sa bok upitam ih gdje...) Za ovo treba imat kliker da bi se shvatilo...

@marsoonia Ne bi trebalo donositi preuranjene zaključke i reći da se tako priča i da je to ispravno, a sve to na osnovu gledanja komercijalnih televizija u hrvatskoj koje imaju na pretek neobrazovanog kadra (manekeni umjesto novinari).

Postoje ljudi kojima je posao govoriti što je na hrvatskom ispravno, a što ne.

Ja kažem ćuprija, kapija, pendžer, itd... ali sam itekako svjestan da to nije ispravno.

However, there was a war betwen croatia and serbia 20y ago, so everyone will act like theres a huge difference...

@Croatian101Lesson Well that's strange since my mother told me that serbian and croatian differ in many aspects. I'm not fluent in croatian (still learning) and I'm sorry if I make any grammatical mistakes. Shit happens. An english sentence "I am going out to find out whether or not it's going to rain."

So, my understanding is that a Serb-guy'd say something like:"Ja ići van da saznat ću da li će kiša da pada." While a Croat'd say: "Ja ići van saznati hoće li kiša padati?"

They have similarities, but are not the same.

Zdravo and bok are not good examples because you can say it in Croatian and in Serbian. (Zdravo basicly means healthy, and bok came from Bog, which means God). Both words exist in Croatian and in Serbian.

There are many different words such as theatre (Cr. kazalište, Ser. teatar), shark (Cr. morski pas, Ser. ajkula), island (Cr. otok, Ser. ostrvo). But it is best for you not to compare, but just learn the language you need.

@pizzaeater6000 Check the order of the letters in the Serbian Alphabet on You Tube and see it for yourself. That's a real big difference when it comes to confusion. While you are at it, Google all the X Yugoslav alphabets.

@ljuba1986 Not quite true. West Serbs say lIJEPA and East Serbs say LEPA. The line of separation of LEPA and LIJEPA lies not in the peoples but dialects. For example Croatian Northern dialects say LEPA and Southern LIPA or LIJEPA. The same with Serbian and even Bulgarian where their East dialects would say LJAPA and West LEPA if they would have this word.

Ha ha ha. Its incorrect to say VEĆE in Croatian. It should be VEČER (with an R as last letter). The letter Ć is also incorrect. It should be Č (ya, I know, the pronunciation is almost the same of these two letters). Good evening should be DOBRA VEČER and not DOBRO VEĆE.
