bro , you have no idea this song should be redone , claire fisher did the string arrangments never heard better strings in a song fabulous , Dammitman!
@2ventin2011 Such as with any Classic band, who comes along at the right time, hit's the courageous notes and raises the bar a little higher; It is what it is. Bands like Rufus featuring Chaka Khan are a classic band; your question is like asking 'where would the apostles be without J.C. IT AIN'T RELIVANT. Enjoy the gift. PEACE!
Yes Indeed. Yes....music was the truth back then...I love it and I miss it...but then again, I dont because my own library is DEEP! Listen to this all of the time. Play on, Playa!
The Rufus pink album promoted some great songs. "Fools Paradise", "Sweet Thing", "Circles", "Everybody Has an Aura", "Have a Good time", "Oooh, I Like Your Loving", "Little Boy Blue" and "Dance Wit Me" all got air time. That was eight out of 10 songs from this album. Great post.
Intense and magical - Chaka doin Chaka - with the amazing RUFUS. Glory and sadness is found within the lyrics and mood of this song - A strong performance by Ms Khan - on a highly emotional and powerful song. Brillant.
perhaps one of the greatest song of all time until this world ends. The music, lyrics and voice of chaka kahn are one, a singularity not only in music but nature itself. music stirrs the soul, and boy this song does.
what!! @ADJ2065 you just said a lot, but you are right on point. No body/very little people even know about this song. Great and hits my heart. intelligent, complexed and real. LISTEN
@adj2065 I've never called myself a musicologist. But here's what I do know, beautiful music when I hear it.This is one of the best vocalist to ever record music. I had so many of Chaka Khan & Rufus' albums(on vinyl , cassette tapes) now I can hear this song that I fell in love with "back in the day" right here on you tube. Guess there are many of us (musicologist) in the world.
Trust me people, I'm a musicologist for real. This is one the greatest songs ever recorded in human history not just R&B, human history. Trust me, you'd be hard pressed to find another person who listens to as much music as I do. This right here is the top the human musical matrix.
@bry3921 Yes, you are correct. I was a bit "over the top" in my verbiage but still I sense my description fails to capture the worth of this artistry. See, I toned it down.
@adj2065 Yes, yes-yes and yes again. I too, am a Musicologist with a capital 'M'. However, this track needs no convincing from you nor I...this track speaks to truth, funk and soul-the latter being what you'd need to get the full affect of this track. Which, by the way, it's good to know someone else who's GOT THIS! Mannnn!
@adj2065 this is my all time favorite song i im 30 years old i remember whn i first heard it riding in the truck with my father on our way 2 cali i feel in love with it
it's so heart-breaking i'm just glad it's early in the day. in Brasil they're proud of their "pop" music. this is a song poem that sticks in your soul. the arrangement, the band, everything so tight. her voice can turn a room upside down; but it's the truth, the story she's telling that we choose to listen to, or ignore.
Forever and always in my rotation! When I break out my old lps and make a little noise this song is a must, listen to the song it tells a story that is timeless.
Clare Fischer passed away Jan. 26, 2012. His arrangements for Rufus were unique and memorable. His talents will be sorely missed.

It has a bitter sweet sadness, but I love Chaka and her sound. She knows how to belt out those highs with extreme intensity.
