All they have to do to fix this is create a street above this street. Cars can choose to take either the top or bottom, and this would cut the traffic time in half.
I'd have to disagree with you man, I've been living in Montreal for about 5 years now after 18 years in Dubai, and Dubai is way worse..I always tell my friends here to count their blessings when they're complaining about traffic.
The government enjoy in building skycraper building, underground hotel, the world and even the Palm, but hte forgot the worst problem they are facing the traffic, if your work start at 8am, at 5 am you should start driving to avoid the traffic mess.
no way, at least in Philippines they have tunnels and overpass not like here in Sharjah specially here in Al Tawoon St they dont have signal light or even subway.
this is a regular site at Al Ta'awun round about... this traffic starts at 5:45am and lasts upto 10am... a traffic signal is badly needed on this round about.
Traffic will surely be the next big challenge for Dubai. ANybody is able to cover a city with Skyscrapers, the problem is then how to make it liveable
It's always been this way in Sharjah. Dubai does get crowded but only at specific times and not as bad as this, and you can always find a different route. Sharjah's roads are too small and it's municipality is a mess. Each city in the UAE has it's own municipality. So you can see drastic changes in street design from city to city.
i know man it sucks, specially at 6:00 pm to 12:00 am

Here, traffic clogs up the entire Buhaira Corniche on certain days until around 2am.
And the road running around the corniche is a few kilometres long.

no dude, traffic starts at 5:00 am and ends at 9:00 pm
there is a break between this which only 3 hours from 10:30.
traffic starts morning all the way from ajman ( a major city in UAE) till jabel ali which it is more than 120 km
imagine this. u live in ajman and u work in jabel ali. while at evening it goes the other way. from jabel ali to ajman.
its a disaster !!!

How can someone live there...

they must have Metropolitan train service in there. otherwise should foment helipads and helicopters leasing operations all over UAE.
A friend told me he hated the UAE traffic all the time,so he charted a lot a chopper, but is so expensive and non civilized way !!

Is this congestion problem recent in Dubai (since its recent boom) or has it always been a problem?
I am actually surprised that with all the building projects going on, they did not enlarge the avenues.
