That was the most brutal theatre of the conflict, and I stand firm in my belief Spielberg has little interest in depicting that part of WW2, he is too busy showing us how the Americans won WW2 singlehandedly when they invaded France in 1944, like in the movie you mention.

First of all the Germans are portrayed as cold, emotionless nazis. When they decide to spare the life of a German, surprise surprise he comes back to kill them since he is a Waffen SS soldier and a fanatical nazi to boot. If I want to watch a movie about German soldiers in WW2 I'll watch a German movie, which portrays them like humans. Stalingrad(1993) is a good example. Das Boot(1981) another.Then there's Sam Peckinpah's "The Iron Cross", which although not German it also doesn't portray all Germans as nazis with no faces

Though red army females were not common whores, their officers used them as "brides". Commanders didn't want to have females in their units coz it tended to bring down moral of troops. Females got bored with war very soon and many of them wanted to get pregnant to leave boring and lousy battleground life. And they got pregnant often. They were mostly just young girls of 20-22.
But here - see another piece of bullshit - they called it "Great Patriotic War". An idiots are still worshipping it.
1979: Searchers find a crash site on a farm near Dmitrievka and are told a woman pilot had been buried there & was moved in July 1969 to a common grave. The doctors only say that the pilot had been a short woman and had sustained a head injury. March 31, 1986: USSR Ministry of Defense confirms that the woman pilot who crashed near Dmitrievka had to be Litvyak. 1988: Litvyak's name is placed on the common grave. Her records are changed from missing to killed in action, 1 Aug 1943.
Her body and aircraft were not found during the war, but a marble monument was erected in her memory in Krasny Luch, in the Donetsk region. Litvyak had completed 168 missions, and had 3 shared victories in addition to her personal twelve. She was 22 years old.
Her remains were found in 1979, buried under her fallen YaK-1's wing, near Dmitriyevka. 10 yrs later her body was recovered for official burial; and in May 5, 1990 she was posthumously conferred the title of Hero of the Soviet Union
From what I understand, Russia's top female ace of the war, served 3 years in Nazi concentration camp, then when she was rescued served another 5 years in the gulag because Stalin didn't trust the POWs.
Russians should always be proud of their history and country no matter what... the 'west' never likes to praise Russia because it is jealous but during ww2 it was the Soviet Union and the Russians that gave hope to the whole world that Hitlers murder machines could be stopped and the women in these photos were just a few of the greatest heroes.

@McLarenM happen to be a Military Historian who has studied that conflict since childhood. I had family in that war. Our family had many a friend and neighbor in that war. I had a classmate growing up whose grandmother had a number tattooed on her arm courtesy of the Allgemeine SS.
So you know Spielberg's mind, do you? Funny, but when I watched SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, I saw depictions of German and their auxiliary soldiers acting in a manner consistent with accounts of those who fought them

What conflict are you speaking of? The German-Soviet war? That was the most brutal theatre of the conflict, and I stand firm in my belief Spielberg has little interest in depicting that part of WW2, he is too busy showing us how the Americans won WW2 singlehandedly when they invaded France in 1944, like in the movie you mention.

If I want to watch a movie about German soldiers in WW2 I'll watch a German movie, which portrays them like humans. Stalingrad(1993) is a good example. Das Boot(1981) another.Then there's Sam Peckinpah's "The Iron Cross", which although not German it also doesn't portray all Germans as nazis with no faces
The fact remains.American movie goers don't give a shit about other countries' wars

I wish there was more video on the Great Patriotic War between Russia and Germany but I don't think many people had the time to take many pictures. If they did I heard you just would see a lot of smoke anyway. There were many great hero's in that war in western Russia .

Many Russian soldier patriots who came back from Germany were put into Gulags and killed because of Stalin's sick paranoia. WHY the Russians allowed Stalin and other corrupt Russian leaders do all these sick things to Russian patriots is beyond me.

Here it is what I learned,
Yes, Stalin and the political machine he and others stood for DID commit crime such as violate human rights etc.
Yes, it is also true that the West exaggerate him and his act to benefit themselves.
Therefore, always be careful with propaganda not only in the East but in the West too.

Though red army females were not common whores, their officers used them as "brides". Commanders didn't want to have females in their units coz it tended to bring down moral of troops. Females got bored with war very soon and many of them wanted to get pregnant to leave boring and lousy battleground life. And they got pregnant often. They were mostly just young girls of 20-22.
But here - see another piece of bullshit - they called it "Great Patriotic War". An idiots are still worshipping it.

1979: Searchers find a crash site on a farm near Dmitrievka and are told a woman pilot had been buried there & was moved in July 1969 to a common grave. The doctors only say that the pilot had been a short woman and had sustained a head injury. March 31, 1986: USSR Ministry of Defense confirms that the woman pilot who crashed near Dmitrievka had to be Litvyak. 1988: Litvyak's name is placed on the common grave. Her records are changed from missing to killed in action, 1 Aug 1943.

Her body and aircraft were not found during the war, but a marble monument was erected in her memory in Krasny Luch, in the Donetsk region. Litvyak had completed 168 missions, and had 3 shared victories in addition to her personal twelve. She was 22 years old.
Her remains were found in 1979, buried under her fallen YaK-1's wing, near Dmitriyevka. 10 yrs later her body was recovered for official burial; and in May 5, 1990 she was posthumously conferred the title of Hero of the Soviet Union

From what I understand, Russia's top female ace of the war, served 3 years in Nazi concentration camp, then when she was rescued served another 5 years in the gulag because Stalin didn't trust the POWs.
